Traction - advantages of two pairs of underwear
« on: April 07, 2018, 08:57:39 AM »

I read from a previous post about someone who found the easiest way for applying heat is to wear two pairs of underwear and putting the heat pad between the two pairs.

Well the same technique works great for traction. Here are some of advantages to this
The extra "support" you get really makes a difference
The device is even more protected from slipping out
It's slightly harder to do the movements which would cause discomfort

With the two pairs I was able to walk around and do the shopping and climb stairs with no issues - previously

Now with two pairs you also have the advantage in being able to add a heat pad between the two layers.

Perhaps ok on the smaller pads but it's not recommended to directly have the heat packs on the skin so this issue is solved.

You can position this over the plaque area and it seems to stay in place (using hand heaters).

I have the feeling that they heat up lower temperature but longer (probably due to less oxygen entry). A hand heater seems to last maybe four hours).

Will certainly be keeping up this routine as it's pretty easy to use.

Interesting idea, what traction device are you using?

Wearing the andropeyronies device. I guess this is not so much an issue with the vacuum/belt systems.

Another advantage is that even without the heat pack you would be warmer in the groin area due to two pairs (and warmth promotes the blood flow).

andropeyronie is a system with rods... how can you fit it in your underwear and go about your day?

what do you think are the disadvantages of vaccum devices that made you choose a system with rods?

It would seem heat promotes circulation which counters the traction’s effect of cutting off blood flow, allowing it to be worn longer.

Surprisingly easily - maybe because I'm trying to correct an upward bend that it folds down as is hardly noticeable.

Why not a vacuum device? This was recommended by my doctor but as I'm discovering now - they don't know everything! I'd doing VED as well now. I think with the reading on this forum I'm a lot more knowledgeable than the first specialist I saw...

does it have enough room? doesn't it go against the seam/saddle between the legs of your trousers?

Yes, but the technique is to wear your trousers a little bit further down your hips and it has room. Again another advantage of two pairs is that it disguises  the form better.
