Hey guys..
I have a left curvature in my penis.. not severe .. but it's there.
I know there is peyronie disease and congenital curvature.
But i've seen a lot of articles and posts about "normal curve"
so what is it?
is it the same as congenital penis curvature but a small curvature?
and if so what curvature degree is considered normal?
really appreciate any help!
thank you

TonySa

Have you always had this or is it new?  If you've always had it, it's "normal" for you and nothing to worry about if functional.  If something new, you probably want to start addressing it ASAP to prevent any worsening.

Aa -- Out of every 100,000 men about 9,000 have some kind of visible curve (Johns Hopkins Medical Hospital). A curve may include some corkscrewing shape, and curve heading off in any variety of directions.

The definition of NORMAL = sexually functional. Is the man able to be sexually functional? If yes, then normal.

Historically, dick specialists appear to have viewed a curve of up to 30-35 degrees as within bounds of what was sexually functional and still safe for the man.

Some accounts on this Forum suggest that specialists may be willing to help a guy out with a far less than 35 degree curve, but for the most part specialists don't like to intervene for normal curvature.

First sir.. i want to thank you for all the information you put in this forum and still answers everyone even you don't have a problem after your plication op.. you are a great man!
well i have a question.. let's say a penis with a small curvature.. like 10 degrees for example..
Can this be fixed by traction? and why?

TonySa

I understand congenital does not respond to traction, only surgery which shortens the penis.  Hopefully you can come to accept the 10 degrees or a shortened straight dick.

Tscanchez --
i have more than 10 degrees.. it was just an example..
yes i know surgery is the only treatment.. but just curious how  traction makes penises longer..
why can't you make one side longer if you have a small curvature right?

JohnWright

It's difficult to have a meaningful conversation with broad statements flying around, e.g. "Surgery shortens the penis." What does it even mean? The statement has no context.

Aa -- If you'll follow Zoli's posts on the surgery he just went through, you'll see there is hope.

My own diary details that I lost no more than 1/2".

Researchers at Johns Hopkins Medical Hospital published a paper at one point in time (which I read with my own eyes) which stated congenitally curved dicks were longer, on average, than the average non-curved dick. The average non-curved dick is about 5.4" inches. My congenitally curved dick was a little over 7" pre-surgery, and almost 7" post-surgery.

Second, regarding traction and the congenital curve: I believe the reason traction works with a non-congenital more or less straight dick is because the cells in the cavernosa are normal cells and can build new cells as stretching occurs. In the case of congenital, there is a defect in the cells that came about during fetal development. The cells are defective in one of those caverns, and they don't respond like a non-congenital dick's cavernosa cells. That's my interpretation of the answer to your question.

I completely agree with JohnW. There of course are the horror stories of people losing 2-3 inches. I think in general most lose less than 1-2 cm and I know of a few personally who did not lose any length. It is a factor to consider like many others.

LWillisjr is correct -- there are horror stories of men who lost inches. And, there are reasonable explanations for all:

- Some men choose doctors who have only experimented on a few dicks and the doctor has no idea what in the hell they are doing. They do it anyway. At the same time, there are some doctors in Europe and the US who are experts in the male dick, analysis, and reconstructive approach. Many men obtain fantastic and proud results from these experts.

- Some men choose (or allow) a corrective procedure that isn't suited to the results the man is looking for AND that correlates to the man's specific situation (how curved, how many curves, how much corkscrewing, etc). All the more reason to gather factual data on techniques. I say "factual data" -- not opinions, not meaningless statements. Read medical and clinical papers on the techniques. EVERY corrective dick technique has risk -- don't delude yourself otherwise -- because there is risk in everything.

- There is risk in everything, from getting up in the morning, walking across the street, eating at a restaurant, getting your dick operated on. Because it is the dick we're focused on, and our male psychology is essentially wrapped up inside our dicks, we emotionally freak out at the thought of risk to our dick. Takes us back to gathering factual data and making an informed, educated choice.

That's great to hear many men have lost very little length!  From all the medical articles I've been reading, and that so few of us have access to the best docs, I'd say loss of length is very likely for most surgeries-although it's good to hear that can be minimized in many circumstances.  And if someone has great length to begin with it could well not be an issue at all.  Please give us any references that indicate loss of length is not an issue, I'd love to learn more about those procedures.  Thanks!
