I often here about the benefits of manual stretching, and I would love to try this. The problem is for me, for whatever reason i cannot bend my penis (while flaccid) in the opposite direction of the bend. Is this normal? Every time I try a little bit i get the inflamed feeling for about an hour. I am 28 years old, 11 months into this terrible condition after an injury which caused a 20 degree left bend.
I haven't tried the VED or traction devices yet because I am worried about making it worse.

Keep at it, gently.  If you pulled a tendon your therapist would say let it heal for a couple/few weeks and then gently start stretching it, even if it's painful.  Keep it moving, keep it warm, keep stretching it, keep massaging it.  The worst thing to do with tissue that is healing is keep it immobile.

As tissue heals, it uses the mechanical forces it's subjected to to determine the matrix of scar tissue to lay down.  If it's not subjected to stretching forces, it will lay down a tight, constricting matrix.  If it's subjected to forces on just one axis, it will be supple in that one direction but tight in other directions.

The tissue on (and in) your penis, when it become erect, expands in ALL directions.  Therefore you want to subject it to those forces as it heals so it will "learn" that it better remain supple in all directions.

To answer your questions specifically, 11 months is a long time and your penis will, in the next few months, stop feeling pain.  This is bad, because the end of pain means the time for rapid healing is over and trying to remodel a constricting scar once the pain is gone will take years.  Years.  Ask me how I know.  Therefore you should get on a VED immediately.  I got a cheap one-cylinder eBay one for $18 and it's served me fine for the last couple of years.  Start pumping now, start pumping hard, and start pumping every day for at least 30 minutes a day.  And don't stop until your penis is back to normal or at least back to a shape you feel comfortable with.

May I ask your protocol for 30mins pumping each day?

Mine's pretty simple.  I have a one-cylinder pump and I pump until the penis stops expanding at a reasonable rate, then I release.  Wait a minute and massage the penis to get the blood to circulate.  Then I pump again, usually it gets bigger this time.  Pump quite hard until it's uncomfortable, hold 20 seconds, then release.  Massage again.  Repeat for at least 30 minutes.

If you can apply heat (such as a heating pad) to the penis for 10 minutes before pumping, I believe your gains will be significantly faster.

I personally dont think that it is a good idea to pump on a penis that obvisiously is not in the stable or as it sounds still  in a kind of acute phase.
Of course it is your decision, but first of all i would try to determine what is really causing that pain (inflamed feeling) - do you have a Scar / fibrosis palpable?

Then you should take the apropriate medis (i.e pentox).

Every case is different so my expierence with VED is that it reduces my NTE and gives me inflamed feeling almost everry time after i used it.
Stopping VED leads to now very good NTE again and no inflamed feeling...

Maybe you were over pumping. I don't think pumping until it is uncomfortable is a good idea, but pumping till you are comfortably erect and releasing after 20 seconds shouldn't cause any issues. Check with Old Man on VED. Nobody knows more about VED and OM.
