Where and when will it stop?

43 yoa.  I have not seen a urologist yet, my appointment is actually tomorrow morning, but I am not optimistic.

I just can't believe how quickly these changes have come on and it worries me as to when they will stop and how bad will they get.

8 weeks ago everything was normal.  No pain, good erections.  Never heard of Peyronies Disease.  My wife of 19 years and I went away for a conference, had a nice dinner and drinks, and went back to the hotel where she wanted to have sex.  Being away from the kids always put her in the mood.  I was a little tired and a bit tipsy but was able to get erect and fulfilled my husbandly duties, and was able to ejaculate.  The next day I was sore, which I had never been before.  It seemed to be mainly with an erection, which I would get several times during the day normally.  I did an internet search and the only cause other than fracture for my symptoms was Peyronies.  I worried a little but since I only came across the medical sites and they really do not mention treatment, and it was early, I waited.

The pain with erections has worsened.  The past few weeks I have awoke in pain every morning at 5 am when my body thinks it is fun with the wife time.  Over the same time period I have started to have soreness while flaccid.  It is uncomfortable to sit and have my thighs push against my penis, which has responded by shortening into itself, even though it feels firm along the entire top side.  The color of the glans and shaft is darker as well, a reddish purple, but not like a bruise.  The worst came last week when all of a sudden my morning erection had a dorsal curve, which my wife noticed, and was probably only 15 degrees then but it has worsened daily and she measured it with a protractor last night and said it is between 20 and 30 degrees.  I cannot feel any plaques and do not have hour-glassing or dents, but the pain prevents the erection from being as hard and firm as they were before.

Psychologically I am a mess.  I go through the 5 stages of grief on a daily basis, only to start all over again the next day when I awake.  My wife has been supportive, but I don't think she understands the life sentence this will be for us.  We have continued to have sex, which wasn't too uncomfortable at first but is getting worse.  The only position I can even penetrate her now is missionary and her pubic bone rubbing the dorsal side of my penis is uncomfortable, and the pain and sensitivity seems to actually cause me to prematurely ejaculate.  The daily worsening of symptoms gives me the impression that I will progress beyond being capable of having intercourse very soon.  I am too young to give up sex and so is she, and I am afraid that after a year or two of my inability to please her that she will be tempted to find someone who can.  Of course she tells me that sex is not important, that she loves me anyway and will love me forever, but my current mental state will not allow the thought out of my mind.

As I mentioned before I am really concerned that I am only 6-7 weeks into the acute phase, which can last 18 months per the literature, and am feeling this poorly.  If these changes continue for another year I will have a pretzel shaped penis.  So tomorrow I see the urologist, but he is the only one in town and that is the reason I am not too optimistic about my visit.  I am hoping for the usual prescriptions (Pentox, Cialis) at least, until I can get into the Cleveland Clinic to see someone more focused on Peyronies Disease, but even that does not give me hope as the treatment of choice seems to be implant surgery, which can't be done until the chronic phase, hurts like hell, and I cannot afford to take off for the recovery.  I have only found this site in the past week and have just today ordered my CoQ-10, carnitine and arginine.  In my current state I am not hopeful for much relief even with these supplements.

That is my situation.  I am feeling extremely sorry for myself, which I hate doing and wish I could stop.  I am healthy otherwise.  So are my wife and kids.  I had 22 years of great sex with the woman of my dreams.  I have everything a man needs......but right now I don't feel like a man.  Please feel free to tell me how ridiculous I am being because I know the world is not coming to an end and many have it worse than me and have been affected at a younger age.  Any advice you may have, physical or emotional, would be appreciated, and thank you for this site and coming here to help those of us that are just beginning this .......this......I can't think of the appropriate word for what this is.  Journey?  No.  We go on journeys by choice, to better ourselves.  Sentence?  Perhaps, but trying to be positive here.  Tribulation seems the best way to describe Peyronies Disease.

Thank you.

Sac,

Everything you described is pretty typical and similar to my situation, except I didn't have pain. My curve was only 5-10 degrees and I though it was odd and no big deal it would go back to normal. Well, the next time my wife and I had sex it was about 45 degrees and that was about three days later from the 5-10 degree bend. I topped out at 50 degrees and that was about 6-8 weeks after what I traced to my injury when I twisted during intercourse, won't do that again.

Your curve will stabilize, but it is different for everybody. As for your injury, you had been drinking and even though you were erect, you may not have been as firm as if you hadn't been drinking. As my URO told me, if you aren't rock hard, you stand the chance of bending and causing an injury leading to peyronies. My URO gave me a VED with contraction rings to use to ensure a very firm erection every time to prevent further damage. Good luck with your treatments.

Sorry, I can't see how a woman can have Peyronies :(

Welcome sac73, I would suggest a further supplement, that being Magnesium Chloride, it has helped me with pain management.
I take Ionic Magnesium with trace minerals and fulvic acid (Goof State).
You can get Magnesium oil to spray on you skin, I use this too, a simple test is if it stings like hell you are definitely deficient! It is also available in flakes for bathing with.
Magnesium, along with Acetyl LCarnitine have been the most helpful with pain.

If your penis is red/purple then this would indicate some internal inflammation, for me not having pain was the greatest relief, hopefully for you your pain will lessen sooner than later as it is debilitating  :'(

Because you are over 40 Years old it would benefit you to substitute the CoQ10 in future with Ubiquinol (reduced form of CoQ10), I take it also for energy/antioxidant effects.

I too have a dorsal curve due to this s*^t, but hey I remain positive  :)

P.s Please amend your profile, your gender says Female, clearly from your post you are not!  ;D

Well....That seems to be how things are going for me this month.  I am sure I checked "male" when I registered and changing gender is not an option on the profile tab, or perhaps I am not seeing it now.  If anyone would be kind enough to walk me through that I would appreciate it.  I am not the most tech savvy for sure.

Update.  I am waiting to see if the admin can give me a gender reassignment!  If not I will delete account and start over.
Also, I saw the urologist.  He agreed with my diagnosis.  Watch and wait.  Rx for Naprosyn for inflammation.  He has never heard of Pentox being used for Peyronies Disease, and thought stretching or pressure against curve when erect wouldn't hurt if done gently.  He didn't think an ED med was necessary.....but it's not his penis!  I will start the supplements and have an appointment at the Cleveland Clinic next week.  Hopefully that urologist will see the earliness of my symptoms as an opportunity to prevent progression.  I appreciate the advice you have given me and am feeling better today....mentally if not physically.

Sac73, Clearly your urologist is an idiot!  :o, never (ever) bend your penis when erect, that is a sure for more trauma, tempting I'm sure but leave it until Cleveland appointment (IMHO)

sac73,

Do NOT do any molding of your erect penis. Your uro is wrong. This is a bad idea.

I went through, and am going through, the stages of dorsal curvature. I am now five months in. I cannot stress enough to do everything you can not to constantly wonder what every sensation means for you. I've done this and have lost lots of sleep over it (31 year old single male here, I'm pretty freaked out). The pain will come and go. Many members here including myself have used heat therapy for flaccid pain and for me it works. I put hot hands heat pads inside a very small loafer-style sock and place that inside my underwear against the dorsal side of my dick for many hours a day. It helps.

Stress makes the hard flaccid you are describing worse. With mine, the weather also seems to contribute.

I would recommend seeing if you can get to a good Peyronies uro. I flew to chicago to see Dr. Levine (out of network, eventually found one in-network) and don't regret the formidable expense. Before you go, research traction therapy, VED devices, oral treatments, manual stretching, Pentox, and injections of Xiaflex and Verapamil (verapamil has some dismal results but according to Levine and my uro, applied in a certain very specific fashion, can benefit). All the material on these treatments is on these boards.

Other members have had benefit from exercise, clean eating, smoking cessation (pot and tobacco), and stress reduction.

Good luck. You aren't alone here man.

OK, many of us have been where you are. I would like to say you are being ridiculous, but that would be a little harsh. This soreness could be something that will likely go away, so don't write yourself a death sentence. Even if you do have a mild form of Peyronies, you can overcome this. You have many years of great sex still remaining. Don't tell yourself it is over. Yes this is difficult to face, but you can do it. And there are many here on the forum who can share and support how you feel. My wife and I faced this together, and overcame it together. Sex is as good as ever.

Things will get better now that you noticed this.  I'm a newbie to this site and have had peyronies for about 8 months.  I first noticed the peas in my penis that concerned me.  While in for my testosterone treatment I ask the doc about these peas in my penis.  He told me it was peyronies and I asked what is that.  He gave me a blow by blow description of what it was and what to expect.  He told me to come back in 2 weeks and we'd see where it was, and gave me VED to start treatment.  He told me it was too bad but told me about Xiaflex treatments and gave me the attached information.  I started the Xiaflex treatments in August 2016 and have had 6 injections since.  I believe it has helped tremendously, the plaque is still there but in now elastic enough that the curve has reduced.  The uro now tells me I should do some traction to gain back my length but not sure which brand is better to use.  So there's is a road to success but takes a while.  Maybe by now things have gotten better for you but thought I'd let you know my situation

skunkworks

Acetyl Carnitine for the pain.

Pentox to halt/slow/reverse progression.

Traction and/or VED to fix the damage done so far.

Localised heat treatment used in conjuction with traction or VED can make both work much better.

It is too early on to consider Xiaflex for you in my opinion.

As we are past the 10th post in an introductory thread I will now lock it. Check out the various other subforums and treatments that everyone has researched. There is a lot of good info in here.
This is an emotionally destructive condition, we all have it, let's be nice to each other.
