Background:  57 year old male, married 30 years, 3 - 4 months since I became aware that something was happening with my penis.   First noticed painful nocturnal erections that would wake me up.  Nocturnal erections are very ridged hard, and painful.  Since noticing this I can define that the more ridged, the more pain.  Next noticed discomfort during sex.  At one point I noticed that I had a curve (more like a sharp bend) that was never there before.  I started searching the internet and learned about P.D.  I have no clue as to where this might have occurred from, no memory of injury or stress other than a serious pelvic injury in 2011 that resulted in a incarcerated groin hernia that required surgery to repair.  The injury was from a fall down a steep cliff where I got a puncture wound from a dead tree branch.  I really don't know if that is related or not.

Since that time the sharp bend has progressed to about 30 - 45ยบ to the left, with hard knot on left side of shaft, about 1/3 from head end.  The lump has become more noticeable when flaccid and / or urinating.

My crash course surfing the internet for answers has brought to me an understanding that there isn't a "fix" but only therapies that improve or assist in living with it.  I have a very understanding supportive wife.  She has been great.  However, I am still struggling with my own mind and have good days and bad.  I can still get a full erection when we are together, but if I look at it, or touch it, I lose it immediately.  It is clearly still progressing, I have no idea when it will stop or what I am doing that maybe helping or hurting the situation.

I made an appointment with a specialist in a urology practice.  Waiting 2 1/2 months for the appointment from the time I called.  I will be going there in October.  Not sure where to go in the meantime, just feel like being alone more than anything else.  I am confident that I will learn to deal with it, just not sure how long it will take for me to reach that point.  I am optimistic for the long term, just locked in fear of not know where it will stop.  My wife and I have enjoyed a very active and satisfying sex life.  It has been more enjoyable in these aging years as it ever has been.  I fear losing that in my life.  I will continue to study the experience of others in this forum, and will remain hopeful that I will find a way to live with this.

Proposing you to read on the forum as much as you can regarding what others have done to fight this disease.
You must be proactive with Peyronies if you want to stop the progress.
Prepare yourself before you see the doctor.
A good place to start will be:
Peyronies Survival Guide - Information for New Members - Peyronies Society Forums
Let us know what treatment he proposed to you.

Thank You for your note James. Last few days got extremely dificult.  I did not expect myself to go down that low emotionally.  Trying to pull back the strength I normally have in difficult situations. I will post what the Doc sets as a plan of action.  For now it seems like an eternity waiting it out.

There certainly is hope! The beginning is the worst as your penis changes from the damage. Even so, I recommend you start with supplements and traction and VED. The earlier the better. Studies show that traction is very effective even in the early stages. It's great that you're seeing a specialist.

I echo what NeoV stated. And don't give up. Many of us had the same experience as you. It isn't fun, and scary as heck since  most of us knew nothing about this before we contracted it. Best way to combat this is with knowledge and being proactive.
