Worried about Doppler Ultrasound

I have a Doppler scheduled for the 17th this month.

My peyronies seems to progress or worsen very easily.

I'm a bit worried about the ultrasound injection.

How exactly is it done? Can someone walk me through it? I already am experiencing intense pain as it is, so not worried about pain. Just worried about this worsening my condition, if it's even possible. I really think I have one of the worst instances of Peyronies in history because it gets worse very frequently and I have plaques encompassing basically my entire penis.

Should I be worried about this?

And, if I do it, how much good will it be anyways? I'm already on Pentox and all the major supplements.

This isn't one of the Peyronies specialists, this is a sexual dysfunction doctor referred by my urologist. I didnt have the best impression of him honestly. He didn't seem ignorant of the condition itself, it was just hard to get a word in edgewise and fully explain the issue. It was an extremely short visit.

Will this doppler show the plaques? Will it show if I have ED? The main thing I want is the plaques to be seen. He seemed to doubt I even had peyronies which was shocking to me, having previously been diagnosed and by my own experience with it.

I'm not sure how many of mine are calcified. I think perhaps some were calcified but reinjured. I need this doc to understand the severity of what I'm going through because he doesn't seem to. Is this the best method to show I do have plaques? Are there any other tests that dont require injections?

I would like to have these results sent over to a Peyronies specialist. However, due to not being able to drive and my location I keep having to change appointment dates.

peyronny,

You have nothing to worry about with an ultrasound. In fact, of all imaging options, ultrasound should be your first choice as there is no radiation in an ultrasound. The name of it gives it away, but it uses sound waves, kind of like sonar mapping a sea floor bottom. Basically, the doctor will put some gel on your penis, stretch it and run the ultrasound device along the penis to get an image of it. Very simple process.

peyronny

Is it done flaccid?

He mentioned getting an injection. I've heard of people saying the injection caused worsening or new plaque formations.

Because of my buried penis (due to obesity) I think I'd have to get the injection anyways.

Does it always show plaques?

Pfract

Don't be dude. Make sure you get a report from the exam, so you know what you have. It's going to tell you if you have ed, plaques, and everything else. Then you can think about a treatment plan.

Bottom line? You are doing something for yourself and that is awesome. Just keep going. Focus on loosing weight, and addressing your condition, and you have much bigger chances of it paying off in the future... OH, and stop all the medication you are taking before the exam and tell the doctor what you are taking when you are there. Also, make sure they bring your erection down fully so you don't run into risk of having a priapism!

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Pfract

One single shot is unlikely to cause damage. And its done erect, so make sure you masturbate but don't ejaculate so you have the best erection possible..

peyronny

@pfract

How long should I stop taking the medications before the exam? Just 24 hours?

Hi there,  I had my first ultrasound done about three weeks ago and like you I was very worried and almost cancelled it.  You need to go.  This is a very good procedure and painless for the most part.  Mine was done first in flaccid state and showed normal blood flow.  Then they did a very fast injection near the base of the penis (not where the plaque is) and she didn't tell me so I wasn't scared.  It felt like a pin prick, but it's not a deep injection and didn't hurt nearly as bad as I had expected.  I really about talked myself out of this appointment.  If you've ever seen a woman's fetal ultrasound, it is exactly the same thing.  You can see your penis and the blood flowing on a TV screen right in front of you, it was really cool!  They looked an both ventricles (sides) and determined I had an arterial flow problem,  meaning blood was not reaching my penis from my veins.  She said that two of patients that had this problem, had heart attacks within 6 mths afterward she diagnosed the problem and urged me to see my primary physician immediately.  My appointment is in two days and this could possibly of saved my life if I have some sort of blockage I was unaware I had.   So needless to say, I'm glad I went, and you will be too!  I thought I have leakage but I didn't. I do have Peyronies and my whole back story is documented here if you want to look me up as a user and see my past posts.  My biggest question was what about the 1.5 inches of length I have lost and girth?  To my dismay,  her response was there is nothing she could do about it and to keep using the VED device, but offered no reassurances it would recover.   I have started to pray about it,  as I am a believer and however selfish a pray that may be, I'm not ashamed to ask for healing and restoration.   I would not take any pills 24hrs before going.  The shot they give you is like a liquid Viagra and produces an erection in about 5 -10 minutes.  My doctor handled it very professionally and was not embarrassing or uncomfortable at all and I am a very self-conscious person. Good luck,  please go and let us know what happens. I wish you all the best!

QuackAttack

I have only had it done flaccid, but I can see the point in doing it erect too. I think the only thing erect would show is the amount of curvature since the plaque is there whether or not you have an erection.

Pfract

There are reasons why the test is done erect. Also, you should stop the medication now. Don't chicken out dude, you can do it. :-) be brave!

QuackAttack

Pfract,

What are those reasons? My URO has only done it flaccid. All of the measurements of my plaque are in a flaccid state. My next step is likely Xiaflex and I would like to have good understanding of why my URO should ultrasound erect. I want to have good info and questions prior to doing Xiaflex to present to him.

Pfract

There is a link someone posted here regarding the ultrasound and all the different tests, but I don't remember where it was.

Try doing a search of the forum using different titles pertaining to the ultrasound subject. Might reveal something for those interested. I have had success finding obscure topics/threads this way.

Jonbinspain

The reason the test is done erect is to check for E.D. To see if the plaque is inhibiting blood flow to the penis in any way.

The shots are not that painful.

peyronny

I guess my main worry was that if the shot is put directly into an area where scar tissue already is or is forming, and making them bigger or reopening ones that were healed. Since there's basically plaques encompassing my entire penis, I doubt that can be avoided.

I'm not even sure how they are going to do it honestly. My penis is completely hidden with an erection. Someone who didn't know any better, if they saw me naked would think I have no penis.

I've had an ultrasound on my leg several years back because they fear I had a blood clot. Honestly, I think even that will be painful for me. Lightly touching my penis is extremely painful. Just holding it to go the bathroom even. But it will be a relief just to get some answers and maybe a treatment plan other than the supplements and Pentox already on.

Pfract

Dude... We saw your penis, so think about what you wrote! Be brave, and do it. Have you stopped the medication?

peyronny

I made a typo there. Meant to say WITHOUT an erection. That was erect, or at least partially erect. It wasn't a morning erection which sometimes are more full, but I got that on purpose for the photo. What I mean is, I'm not sure how they would even do it flaccid. I guess I'll have to "pull it out" like I have to to urinate. To pee I have to tuck it out.

The confusion there also may be because due to my scar tissue and excess skin, it does not always retract fully even though I'm circumsized.

I have a micropenis or at least close to it. Have all my life. I'm not concerned with that so much because there are other ways to please a woman. It stinks, but I can't help it.Not being able to have sex or making it difficult to the point of no longer pleasurable is another story. It's just the odds are completely against me here so just being realistic.

When flaccid, it's completely hidden.

Do I need to stop all pills? Or just my peyronies supplements and pentox? I've still got a week for the appointment.

Like I said, I'm going but I'm not looking forward to it. I'm just not sure everyone really understand the situation fully. Even applying creams for peyronies I have caused maybe more damage. I think my situation is a very special case because I get reinjured very frequently. I don't know if I'll ever be out of the "acute phase" because I restart the process all over every so often, sometimes just from basic everyday activities. I've honestly considered just having it removed completely. I'm unable to do basic things. It hurts to sit in a chair. It hurts to walk. It hurts to laugh. I'm not kidding, laughing causes pain in my dick.

peyronny

They cancelled my appointment without my knowledge..I'm at a complete loss of what to do. I'm honestly considering suicide. I don't want to be talked out of it. I want someone to do it for me or talk me into it. I wish I was brave enough to finish the job. It's not even about sex anymore. I'm unable to live a normal life. I can't sit. I can't walk normally. Urinating is very difficult and at times impossible. My penis feels like it's on fire, the pain is now radiating to my anal area. It's becoming extremely difficult to push the skin back to pee. Throughout all this I'm becoming more and more emotionally needy. I need a female in my life so bad, it's driving me insane. And yet I'm incapable of going on a date like this. I've had some opportunities from Tinder and dating sites but had to turn down. I'm 26 years old and have no experience whatsoever. I'll die a virgin and hopefully sooner rather than later.

Arrived for my appointment the other day, office lady says it's been cancelled. My mom took me, I'm unable to drive. I can barely sit down at all. I just lay in bed all day and even that hurts. Honestly it wasn't easy for me to get there, I was in pain in the car. It's very sensitive. I thought, at least I'll get some answers. I thought at least I'll get a plan of action. Nope, waste of time and possibly damaged things more in the process. I've been laying in bed since midnight last night trying to sleep. I took ibuprofen and aspirin still in excruciating pain. I couldn't even skype with the girl because I'm laying in bed naked because wearing pants hurts my dick. Dont want her to think I'm a pervert. I'm unable to be. My pee seems to be getting caught in my penis when I pee. The scar tissue is now blocking urine flow. And it burns as it releases. I have to push and push to get anything out even if bladder is completely full. And I keep having to go back 2 or 3 minutes after peeing. If my penis wasn't damaged I could've actually had a date. It's devastating to me how this is effecting my life.

It's been rescheduled but my peyronies is rapidly progressing and has been for months. I don't know if I'll even be alive then at this rate. It's all I talk about anymore. My entire family knows. It's embarrassing but I need some support. They don't care. They would be relieved to find my dead body. I truly believe this, I'm not on good terms with most of them.

I'm actually losing weight rapidly now but because I'm no longer interested in food. I'm eating a good diet in hopes of it helping but so far no good. I've taken all the readily available treatments I can think of. I don't want anything topical because rubbing the areas isn't good right now.

I'm on:

L-arginine
Acetyl L cartinine
Pentox
Ginsent
Gingko
Bromelain (reordered waiting on new bottle)
PABA
Vit. E.
Gotu Kola
Turmeric
Grape seed extract
Drinking lots of green tea
Eating tons of Blueberries
Mostly fruit/veggie diet. Still eat carbs and sugar but nothing sweet just for the sake of being sweet.

I have to supress my own laughs because laughing hurts my plaques.

My bed is damaged and the tossing and turning all night trying to get comfortable doesn't help with my dick issues. Wearing blankets or sheets is extremely uncomfortable. I lay in bed freezing all night.

I'm not trying to be melodramatic here. But this is just how I feel. I don't think anyone on this forum has it like I do, not to belittle the problem for anyone. But it's just due to the buried penis the plaques are trapped in my scrotum. So just walking and doing regular activities causes them to get worse.

When I urinate (if I'm able to) it's not just pee. I'm peeing out sperm from weeks or months of no release.

I know this post is all over the place and probably full of typos. I'm going to try and finally get some sleep from last night at 4 pm.

If it wasn't for my dick issues I would be ecstatic right now because of weight loss. I was happier 450 pounds.

Pfract

Dude... As bad as your situation is, don't loose focus. Reschedule the appointment, and try to proceed with the weight loss, and what was told here. Courage, you can do it! Take pain killers if necessary, and do go to a urologist asap. Never quit!

That actually sounds a lot like prostatitis... http://www.webmd.com/men/guide/prostatitis?page=2#2

I've tried aspirin and Ibuprofen. Right now I'm on pain killers and it's excruciating. I think I caused this last night from tossing and turning in bed so much, trying to get comfortable. I try to sleep as bow-legged as possible but that's not comfortable either.

It literally feels like someone set my dick on fire.

skunkworks

Any chance you could get to a uro and ask them about prostatitis? Probably even just a general practitioner would do.

I'm gonna see what can be done tomorrow. Usually takes months to get appointment. I don't know how long I can live like this anymore.

The pain is bad, but my peyronies is actively getting worse. I was thinking Prostatis too. But the peyronies is actively getting worse at same time. I m a shell of a person now. I just lay in bed with my legs spread apart all day. I prayed and asked God to kill me. If I was atheist I would dump this whole bottle of pentox into my mouth. Even the last few months as awful as it's been I never thought it could get like this. The entire area of the penis is covered in scar. I'm unable to retract it whatsoever without it feeling like I'm tearing scar tissue.

Maybe I am being punished for something. I just want my penis to be like it was a month ago. At least then I could get it up and feel aroused. Now I feel nothing but burning and an odd gooey sensation. My penis feels like liquid almost to touch. It's so soft and full of scar tissue it feels like it's not even solid anymore. My penis is literally melting away.

I feel like I'm being tested or maybe I already died and I'm in hell. I need some serious help. A regular uro will do nothing. I'm an extreme case. I doubt a single person has this disease to this degree. My entire dick is swollen like a balloon with scar.

skunkworks

How long ago was your operation? You've been checked recently to make sure there is no post operative infection right?

I haven't had any operations. They scheduled me for a doppler but cancelled and didn't find out until I got there. So just waste of time, pain and gas. My peyronies was scheduled in 2012 and just had small lump at time. It was just diagnosed on symptoms and check up. Said he felt a lump and told me to just take Vit. E come back in a year. Came back and it had progressed but still wasn't bad. It seemed relatively stable through 2014 at least then sometime around the time I joined this forum it started going to hell. Hasn't stopped since. I never thought it would get this bad. It's worse than it was a week ago. And a week ago I was miserable. It just feels like this is going to keep professing until I die.

My entire penis just has lumps and plaques. There is almost noting left. It's just a a plaque magnet. Everthing I do causes injury or reinjury.

I was laying down and my mom came in threw a stuffed animal in my room...not sure why, probably taking away from one of the kids. She didn't know I was in bed and it landed right on my dick while partially erect. I get like half erections when sleeping. I think even this caused a new injury. I get injuries from just day to day activites on a daily basis. I sleep with no pants or underwear because any contact causes intense pain. The burning sensation is decreated today from last night. Now I just feel the normal plaque pain. But I'm on ibuprofen so idk it might just be numbed. But i have plaques everwhere and they are getting bigger.

The other day I got up to pee and my dick almost felt like liquid. My penis is turning to mush. It was efect but felt like a water balloon or something. I think at this point I have peyronies but probably several other things going on. I'm seriously considering having my penis removed completely and trying to just rebuild my life the best I can.

Even flaccid my penis is nothing resembling straight anymore. It looks round more than anything. I can no longer move/flex my penis. I can't even imagine attempting any kind of stimulation in the future. At this point it's just about living a bearable life. I guess I'll just be alone forever unless I can find a woman with no vagina.

NeoV

I'm sorry to hear all this. Please do everything you can to see a specialist and get that ultrasound. You must have something else going on. I'm curious about the liquid like feeling, since my VED injury resulted in that. Your case sounds unique though and you have to get it checked out.

peyronny

Yeah, I'm definitely still going to get it done. I'm just afraid of what they are gonna tell me. I don't see this ever getting better realistically. At this point i just at least want it stable though so i can live a normal life, sex aside. If I had someone as frustrating and as hard as it would be I could live without sex. I can't however live alone forever and with this level of pain, in this area. I think if I had a normal penis like everyone else and was a normal weight, I still would have got this but it wouldn't be this level of severity. I had ED before I ever developed peyronies and would masturbate soft until I became erect. Never knew this was harmful but most likely along with Atenolol caused the condition. And then my own OCD and obsession with it and checking all the time. No more checking thats for sure. I'm not touching it at all unless going to bathroom or washing. This condidion is a nightmare for anyone who already has OCD or anxiety issues.

What happened with the VED injury? That's interesting, I thought this was something only i experienced. It was just so odd feeling, and I remember I felt like I was going to pass out when first discovered it when I went to the bathroom. It felt like one of those water toys that you put in your hand and slips out...
