Vitamin C Transforms Mouse Stem Cells Into Heart Muscle Cells -

Lee and his colleagues tested 880 bioactive substances – including drugs and vitamins – approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to see if they stimulated the mouse stem cells to become heart muscle cells. The cells were genetically altered to give off a fluorescent bright green color when viewed under a microscrope if they had become heart muscle cells.

"We only got 1 out of the 880 to light up, and that was from ascorbic acid, the chemical commonly known as vitamin C," says Lee, an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, and a lecturer in biological engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass.
they found that both cardiac myosin and actin (proteins involved in relaxing and contracting muscle) were present in the cells.

Smooth Muscle -

A substantial portion of the volume of the cytoplasm of smooth muscle cells are taken up by the molecules myosin and actin,[1] which together have the capability to contract, and, through a chain of tensile structures, make the entire smooth muscle tissue contract with them.

Penis Anatomy -

Along the inner aspect of the tunica albuginea, flattened columns or sinusoidal trabeculae composed of fibrous tissue and smooth muscle surround the endothelial-lined sinusoids (cavernous spaces).

The subcutaneous connective tissue of the penis and scrotum has abundant smooth muscle and is called the dartos fascia, which continues into the perineum and fuses with the superficial perineal (Colle) fascia.

Adult Stem Cells -

Until recently, researchers thought adult stem cells could create only similar types of cells. For instance, researchers thought that stem cells residing in the bone marrow could give rise only to blood cells.

However, emerging evidence suggests that adult stem cells may be able to create unrelated types of cells. For instance, bone marrow stem cells may be able to create bone or heart muscle cells. This research has led to early-stage clinical trials to test usefulness and safety in people. For example, adult stem cells are currently being tested in people with neurological or heart disease

i.e. Increase Vitamin C (only substance out of 880 tested to work), you increase myosin, actin, and smooth muscle production from adult stem cells in bone marrow, which helps repair the abundance of smooth muscle in the penis. That is if we believe vitamin c has a similar effect in adult stem cells as it does in rats.

My Experience

OK lately nearly all supplements have been my enemy. I posted in another thread how nearly all of them worsen my condition, including vitamin c. I believe this is a result of taking way too many drugs and supplements over the last few years, and I've developed an auto immune disease problem. Also peyronies is thought to be an auto immune disease by a few people.

Previously before all these supplements worsened my conditioned, I noticed that large doses of vitamin c gave me super erections. If I took 2-5g of vitamin c, I would get rock hard erections, like viagra hard. I then found out vitamin C is a powerful Nitric Oxide producer, and that's why I don't think it helped in the long run. Because like viagra or cialis, the increased NO now damages my dick, and I can't take them anymore.

Anyway I had a major cold lately, and started upping my vitamin c and zinc. Vitamin C being risky as it worsens my penis with the extra nitric oxide. However by upping my zinc, my penis has remained in a nicer anti inflamed state. And my erections have been good. But if I continue with taking too much vitamin c, I start to feel the extra nitric oxide doing it's bad thing. Zinc also makes my erection harder in a different way. Nitric Oxide increases the blood flow, so it's easier to get my erection up higher. While zinc actually makes the penis more rigid somehow using a different mechanism (I wrote about this observation previously). Zinc also gives me a slight mental clarity booster. Zinc also increases testosterone.

I've also added lysine to the mix every now and then (my girlfriend recently got the powder for her cold sores). Now I know before all supplements started making my penis react badly. That l-carnitine, in the form of L Carnitine L Tartrate, gave me strong and healthy erections, and helped inflammatory. And there's the famous study that Acetyl L Carnitine helps peyronies. But l carnitine has also now turned on me and worsens my peyronies (so I stopped taking it). Well I've only just discovered that lysine is an amino acid that converts into l carnitine. It's one step back in the process, and I have no problem taking it atm.

Another thing lysine does, is competes and decreases arginine, thus decreasing nitric oxide as it's the precursor.

Plus all vitamin c + zinc + lysine all help the immune system function better and efficiently. Which I think might be balancing my immune system out a little with it's autoimmune/over activity.

And we know vitamin c + zinc helps arterial health, as well as keeping veins healthy, by making enough collagen. If you lack in either, you don't make collagen correctly or enough of it, and you veins become weaker. Though some people on here believe increasing collagen will worsen the peyronies issue because they link it to scar tissue, I don't fall into that category. Having enough healthy collagen is essential to maintaining healthy veins and circulatory system throughout the body.

I believe the mix of vitamin c + zinc + lysine, might be working well for me atm because:

1. It helps maintains a healthy immune system, thus making it less over reactive or autoimmune.
2. If the rat stem cell study is anything to go by, vitamin c is great for creating smooth muscle in the presence of stem cells. We can hope this has a similar effect in our body.
3. We know this combo increases collagen to strengthen veins and maintain a healthy circulatory system.
4. Lysine converts to carnitine which helps peyronies.
5. Lysine reduces arginine, thus reducing nitric oxide. Too much nitric oxide being detrimental to a lot of us with peyronies.
6. High doses of zinc increase testosterone, reduce estrogen by disabling aromatization. Both have thought to be important for helping peyronies.

I'll keep you updated on everything. But my penis does feel oddly better. Especially after adding higher doses of zinc to my supplement regime.
