Hi to everyone, I'm new to this forum but not new to peyronies disease :-[. I'm a 36yrs old male from Dublin, ireland. I had an injury about 6 yrs ago and noticed some pain and then bending over time. I put it down to an injury during sex and the bend was approx. 15-20 degrees at chronic stage. I wasn't aware what is was until about a year ago when i did some research. Since then (2 months ago) I've had another injury (on the left side of penis, which was the same side as the first injury). I was depressed to say the least since not only does this mean more bending but after exploring the first injury I'm aware that the acute phase is 6-18 months so this could get worse. I had a bit of pain for week one, that's nearly gone now, but i do still get pain when erect. I had a few questions that i was hoping someone could answer.
1. I started traction a week in to second injury but last week the pain came back when flaccid, I think I'm irritating the injury and not giving it time to recover. Should i wait a few weeks before using traction?
2. I know the acute phase lasts 6-18 months but do people know the average length of time their bending occured in?
3. I live in ireland, and lots of the medication I've read up about seems to be accessable  in America, do you know what meds are available over in ireland?
4. I haven't been to a urologist yet and was trying to find one in ireland that is familiar with peyronies. I was told that Dr. Ivor Cullen and Dr. Paul Hegarty are the only 2 that operate so i suppose they are good, but does anyone know of any in Dublin?

I'm sorry for all the questions but as you know only to well this has me worried sick and single and i want to explore every avenue that will give me a fighting chance as i don't want this to beat me. Also if anyone else out there has any advice for someone in the acute stage (2 months) i would be very grateful.

Thanks a mil,
Pd2016

Peyronies Disease,

Start slowly with the traction, just an hour or two for the first few weeks and slowly build by an hour or two for the next few weeks and don't increase the tension much. I get an occasional dull feeling when flaccid, but no pain when erect or having sex, which is fortunate. My URO has me on Pentox and Dr. Levine in Chicago uses combo therapies, one of which is Pentox with VED and or Traction.

Good Luck,
John

Quackattack,
Thanks for advice. I'll take it slow to start with. Do you know the time it took before your bending stopped? I know it's different for everyone. Is pentox good for pain or curvature?

QuackAttack

While Pentox is not an NSAID or opioid pain reliever, it is said to help with pain. Pentox is supposed to help with curvature. I am fortunate in that I haven't had any pain and I hope that continues. While I can't prove it, I think getting on traction early on has helped me not have pain by keeping my plaque soft.

pd2016

Thanks Quakattack, I will speak to my uro about pentox. Hopefully I can get it in Ireland. How long have you had pyronie's? And did your length loss and curvature happen straight away or over a longer period?

Peyronies Disease,
I have traced my Peyronies to injurie having intercourse with my wife. I have determined that I had taken an angle with my leg out side of my wife's leg, slightly bending. I am thinking there was a little click, but I don't know for sure. That was in late July 2015. A week or so later when we had intercourse again, I noticed a very slight upward curve (dorsal), maybe 5-10 degrees. About a week or two later I noticed a curve about 45-50 degrees and thought is was strange and I told my wife when we were having intercourse and I called it curley, not knowing anything about Peyronies. After intercourse, I went to the computer and researched unusual curve in penis and up popped Peyronies, no pun intended. For the next few days I did research and bought a traction device. So, I got on it within 3-4 weeks and saw my GP for a referral to a URO. I lost about 1.25-1.5 inches in erect length initially. I didn't lose any girth. Traction has kept me at the same initial loss; however, I have gained 3/4" flaccid length, about 1/4" in girth and I have had no pain. I would recommend it. I bought the size genetics product. I think it is a quality product, but it is somewhat a pain because it isn't the most easy thing to conceal. I have had to buy boxer briefs to help keep it tight to the body. I am contemplating getting the Phallosan Forte which appears to be easier to conceal and you can were it all night without cutting off circulation and time in a device is important per my doctor, but start slowly. Contact Old Man on the forum. He is the expert on VED and Traction.

Thanks again for the advice Quackattack. I'll contact the old man and ask for his opinion. I made an appointment with the uro today. Isn't till next month but I'll go on the traction in the mean time.

Hey Peyronies Disease 2016...
who is your urologist? Im also in Ireland, and can relate to your issues finding a doctor here. I couldnt find anyone in Ireland doing surgery. I have an appointment with Dr Kuehhas in London Andrology clinic this week, although I have congenital curve, not peyronies.
Anyway, I will be defo going with Dr Kuehhas if I decide surgery is for me, he is without doubt the best according to all research I have done.
I think I can claim back tax on MED1 form for travel expenses to London if indeed there is no-one doing surgery in Ireland. Did you find anyone doing surgery here during your searches.
Sorry to be asking you questions, I realise you came here for answers lol, but appreciate any help u can offer.

Hi Fefgeug, I spoke to a a uro and he said that  Dr. Ivor Cullen and Dr. Paul Hegarty are the only two in Ireland that do surgery but I haven't spoke with either yet. When I do I will ask. I'm worried sick about this but have to play the waiting game for a bit. Have you been given any sort of meds? Do ya know are they any good? I've been on traction but I'm afraid I've made it worse! The inflammation had gone down but now it's back. I presume I've opened the wound or made it bigger!! :(...  Thanks for the advice about urologist in London... I'm praying to god I won't need to go down the surgery route as everyone says it's risky and a last retort. Have u tried other options first? Any success? How far gone are you? Again sorry for all the questions!

fefgeug

Hi, I havent tried any meds. I did try VED without success. My case is congenital curve, ie I have always had it, its just the way I was made lol.
From what I have read here and elsewhere the only option for me is surgery. The STAGE technique for congenital curve by Dr Kuehhas is extremely safe, almost guaranteed no complications. He also uses the EDGIO technique for peyronies, I think this is also very safe.
Just so you know, my condition doesnt stop me having a very satisfying sex life, it is just awkward at times and I always wished it was straight. Thankfully I am now able to afford surgery, but I wont be doing surgery unless I am all but guaranteed success.
I dont have peyronies thank god, so cannot advise you much, only from what I have read here most meds dont do much, they certainly wont fix it altogether. Anyway I think you can only wait until it stabilises and then look into surgery. Meds may help to stop it getting too much worse. Just my 2cents from what I am reading here though.
Some reports here are that the meds are mad expensive, surgery is aroung 8000 sterling in London. Thankfully the exchange rate is improving, in the last week its gone from 72 pence per euro to 77, reducing my price by 700 euro. Hopefully it keeps up.
I am seeing Dr Kuehhas this week, I will ask him what your options are.

without doubt the only person you want operating on you

Read on his clinic site about peyronies here

Using VED, Pentox and low dose Cialis got back some length and girth even started to deal with the disease after 3 years.
Earlier you start treatment, better the chance to arrest the disease and even revers the symptoms.

I suppose a moderator will close the topic after my post (it is done after some 10 posts on this board) so better you open an other topic on a relevant board
