Wonder if anyone else here has been on Test therapy? I'm 45...have had Peyronies Disease for 4 years..saw dr Levine last week. Got a Pentox rx that I haven't started...yet.  Got a call today that my testosterone is 141!! Really low. I go back end of Jan to do a consult for test therapy and possibly start Test.  Funny thing is I used to sell the Test Patch...lol...a decade ago.  Patch sucks though.lol. Falls off.  No way I'm doing weekly shots.  Terrible up,and down feeling.  Guess it's gel. Only thing that worries me about gel is I have 2 young kids. Just need to make sure doesn't rub off on them which can happen easily.

Any way...there are a lot of studies implicating low T to Peyronies Disease and even degree of curvature etc.. I'm just wondering if I should wait to start Pentox? Not sure I want to do both Pentox and Test? Both highly affect red blood cell production etc..  I'm wondering if I should just wait to start the Test therapy and see if that does anything for my Peyronies Disease?

Thanks if anyone has any thoughts.

Low T has most definitely been linked to Peyronies. If you're considering treatment for it in conjunction with Pentox, discuss it with your doctor.

I'm starting to put two and two together on just how I got this awful disease. Had a leg injury about 5 years go...got hooked on Vicodin...took that for 2 years(a lot of it) finally stopped with help but that's also same time I got Peyronies Disease. Opiate abuse lowers Test. Could have had a small injury and with low T my body just didn't have the test to fight it off..idk.

Thanks for the reply.  Yea I'm just hesitant to start Pentox only to have the Dr tell me I shouldn't do both Pentox and T therapy?  Low T would certainly explain ,y lack of energy...fatigue..labido or lack therof...and possibly my Peyronies Disease.

As Jonbinspain said you should consult your doctor about taking Pentox and Testosterone at the same time.
I know some forum members that were on 6*400 mg daily Pentox and Testosterone therapy.
MattFoley is one of them. You may want to read some of his posts regarding Testosterone therapy.
By the way, Pentox didn't increase my red blood cells count and Testosterone not always helping fight Peyronies.
Mine is 692 at the age of 68,it was more than 700 when my Peyronies started 7 years ago.
I don't want to discourage you, your testosterone is much lower than it should be, just take that in consideration

Don't forget you need to get your free testosterone, SHBG and total testosterone measured at the same time.

Your free T is what is available to use.  If your total T is high or in the normal range there are ways to increase your free T  to a healthy range by lowering your SHBG.  You may not need to supplement with T at all.

Thanks for the replies. Good luck...ill definately, have my free t checked as well....I'm quite sure it's shockingly low.  My total T was 141..which at age 45 is incredibly low. I'm 6' and 175 lbs. so it's not like I'm 65 and 300 lbs. Pretty sure I'm needing to go on T therapy. My energy is crap as well. I sleep 8-9 hours a day and around 1pm need to crash. Not to mention th depression etc..I'm actually looking forward to going on it.  Hoping I don't have many side effects. Don't care about sperm anymore..I'm done having kids. Once I start the TRT I'm getting back into working out. Taking slow in beginning cause it's literally been 3-4 years with zero exercise.  More Test...more exercise..better shape..better eating..better sleep...much better chance of less inflammation and hopefully this chain reaction helps my Peyronies Disease.  Appreciate the advice on Pentox. I'm sure Dr Levine will advice well.  Almost seems like if u are taking Pentox you woild want to be on TRT? Pentox thins the blood while TRT thickens it. So the two together would seem to balance each other out?

Pentox is not a blood thinner in the usual way. It makes the red blood cells flexible so they can carry the oxygen to the thinnest blood vessels.

Makes Sense James. Thanks.

Good luck...so got my total blood test sent to me... My SHbG was 44 which is right in middle. Estradiol was normal in middle.  But my Free T was 21!...OMG! No wonder I feel like I'm 90. No offense to 90 year olds.  I really hope I don't have too many side effects from TRT cause it might just change my life.

Freemason;

Obviously, be guided by your doctor on this, but you may find that once you get back in the gym that your testosterone will increase fairly quickly. You can also try some natural testosterone boosters, such as Tribulus.

I'm 20 years older, in the gym 4-5 days a week, and I'm still horny as hell!.

Good points !

I am about to have my T levels measured. I think my (low T) symptoms are borderline but I'm having the levels checked anyway.

As Jonb says below, the gym, specifically weight training, has a very significant effect on T levels

I have been in the gym all my life but have modified my programme following some research and advice from my Trainer. I don't like the look of T replacement therapy side-effects and apparently weight training in a certain way is the best way you can increase your T levels without actually embarking on TRT.

For those interested, the specific programme that is the result of deep research and my Trainers input is different from my usual approach and may well be different to what many others do in the name of fitness. The objective of this being ... what type of training maximizes natural T release in men 45yrs + old

The proposed approach is heavy reps with the weight set at a level you will only just make 6 reps with MAX effort maybe even one forced with the help of your Trainer / training partner. If you can squeeze out even 7 .... put the weight up. This programme is about the specific stimulus the body gets from HEAVY maximum forced training.

What is different for me is that you do the whole body like this 3 x per week. Apparently, training the whole body this way 3x per week has been shown to release more T rather than the usual splitting the week into body parts e.g chest / shoulders one day, legs the next, back and arms the next etc

In order to train the whole body in a single session and maximize T release, you obviously need to do less exercise types. The secret is that you only do big compound movements for the main muscles

e.g. for legs - olympic squat 5 sets 6 reps
dead lift 5 sets 6 reps

for chest - bench press 5 sets 6 reps
                    dips 5 sets 6 reps

for back - wide grip chins 5 sets 6 reps
close grip row 5 sets 6 reps

I do a programme like the above on a Mon, Weds and Friday

You can add one extra exercise type into each body part routine as you get used to it and obviously you can vary which compound movements you do for each body part. If you are not sure sure what a compound exercise is, get a member of your gym staff to explain and help you devise a programme. A programme like this is intended to be done with free weights. Most compound movements are.

This type of training has been shown to be the best form of training to maximize the release of T and Growth Hormone. Regardless of Peyronies this is the best way to keep your body in a naturally anabolic state and therefore youthful. If improving your T levels helps Peyronies as well, then fanatastic.

Don't forget a sophisticated post work out stretch, especially important with this type of training.

Hope that helps anyone looking at going down this road. Any questions, happy to take PM's ........ good luck, stay young (really helps with the psychological impact of Peyronies Disease !!)

Jon..I appreciate the support. I remember being 20 and I screwed everything all week. All Im going to say is wait until you hit 40.  I know guys who are body builders whose T level was low.  It's by far the most important level of anything for a man..T controls mood, behavior, energy, heart disease, strokes, etc.. I'm not messing around with the hopes that some day I'll wake up and have energy to even work out.  My T levels are dangerously low and my Dr told me if I don't go on T therapy I'm a waking heart attack waiting to happen.

I'll keep everyone posted. Think it takes a few weeks to kick in.  Honestly it's too bad that society and Drs don't talk enough about low T in men but a woman walk into a clinic with my symptoms and they leave with a Rx for hormones and a pat on the back.

Edit...I thought you said you were 20! lol. So you are 65 ish. That's great you have that energy. Some do some don't.  I'm just upset at myself for not addressing it earlier.

Do what your doc suggest but you may still want to use tribulus.  It could allow you to take a lower amount when you get your T shot.

Tribulus  is an ayervedic herb and relatively safe.  It works by lowering your SGBH and freeing up bound testosterone. By itself It does not increase your total T.  It will increase your free t which is really the important one.  The question is......... will it be enough?

Start with around 1000 mg/day and see if you notice anything.  Lots of guys are taking 1500 or 2000 mg/day.

You should start to notice morning erections after a week or so.  Zinc is also important too but you don't want to take it if you don't need it.   A safe dose is 10 or 15 mg per day to start.  You could ask your doc to measure both zinc and copper.

No problem!  I'm 66 actually.

If you're T is low at 45, then yes you need to do something now. If your doc says replacement therapy, then go for it. I suffered from it myself a few years back without really realizing what the problem was. In fact I'm sure it contributed to the onset of my Peyronies.

By coincidence, a friend convinced me to join him at the gym. I hadn't done any gym work in several years, but thought I'd give it a go. I slowly ( and that's important!) got back into it. After a couple of months I had not only lost weight, I felt better, looked better, and I realised that I was feeling horny a lot of the time - something that hadn't happened for a while!

It's 5 years now since I started doing regular gym work, and even at my age, I don't go there to talk - I work - hard!

66 and I still get great erections, good orgasms, and am loving it. - Especially now I've got a straight dick again!

I still haven't taken him for a post op 'test drive' I'm only 7 weeks post surgery and the head is still a bit sensitive, but not long now!
