After my initial appointment with a female PA, not recommended for something like this, but with military insurance I didn't have much choice.  I saw Dr. Dean at Walter Reed in Bethesda, MD who is a pretty decent guy and was very big on Dr. Levine in Chicago and his methods.  He gave me a book of Dr. Levine's to read while he did a quick consult "Understanding Peyronies Disease" which is written in a very non technical way so it is very easy to understand without all of the medical jargon. I read the treatment options section and I would recommend this as a must read for your medical understanding of the disease and treatment options.

I appear to be fortunate in that the plaque isn't calcified and I attribute that to taking action and using traction, which Dr. Dean supports as a viable treatment. He said that one of the major reasons traction fails is because people aren't very compliant and use it very sparingly.  Dr. Dean said 4 hours a day is what is needed to stretch the plaque. My plaque is 1.8mm by 2mm dorsal. Starting on the PAV cocktail without the Viagra since I have good erections and Dr. Dean said that is the only reason to use Viagra in the cocktail is when you have poor erections. So, I'll be doing 4-5 months of Pentox and traction and reevaluate at that point with Xiaflex and VED as the next level. Hoping for the Pentox to work because the Xiaflex injection to me seems like the pain would be about equal to sticking your head through a plate glass window.

Anybody in the DC metro area with Tricare coverage, Dr. Dean seems like a good Dr., but make sure you see Dr. Dean and not the PA because you will get a more appropriate treatment modality with Dr. Dean. When he looked at the dosage of Viagra, he almost choked laughing at how low the dose was and said that it was so low that it wouldn't even work for a 20-year-old.

Hey Quack..sounds like we are similar. I saw Levine recently for first time. I too have no calcification but a 50 degree upward curve. I too have fine elections. He gave me Ptx 3x daily as well...but haven't started yet...idk just kinda afraid a little. Reading on here how some have had serious issues with it and side effects etc..but others haven't so. Also see that some have used it and when they stopped condition got a lot worse? Holy cow that would suck.

I'm also wondering if I should do 2x daily or 3x? Some studies used just 2x daily..

Freemason;

Pentox affects people differently. You may experience increased anxiety, gastric problems, etc. some, or all of these problems will lessen as your body becomes accustomed to the drug.

Start slowly, and build up. Never take on an empty stomach!

That is very nice quack! Hope you get good results with the treatment! Keep us posted please.

Job,
That is exactly what Dr. Dean said so I am taking one pill a day for six days, then two pills a day for three days, then the full 3 after that along with the traction. I am glad Dr. Dean is in line with Dr. Levine since he is the man in terms of peyronies treatment.

Free,

I discussed the topic of some people stopping cold turkey after getting better only to have the condition come back and Dr. Dean said he has seen that happen in only a few cases, but said you could go back on Pentox should the condition diminish. Dr. Dean said there are no quick fixes, BUMMER for all of us because that is what we hope for and patients that see him are usually on it for about one year if they are seeing progress. He has one patient that has been on it five years, to me that is overkill because if it was working well, you would think it would be less than that, its not something to control blood sugar that you will take for life in most cases.  Dr. Dean said if we don't see good progress in about 4-5 months, then we will do Xiaflex.  I read the warning label and am not excited about any side effects, but the alternative is having less than a whole package, so I am forging forward for a little while.  Since you have the Pentox, and you have seen Dr. Levine you most likely have a traction device as well. So, take the plunge slowly like Job is saying. Here is the route I am taking 1 pill a day for 6 days, 2 pills a day for 3 days, then the full 3 pills a day after that.

Good luck Free,
Keep the conversations flowing on this topic since we are tracking very similarly in terms of no calcifications, degree and direction of curvature and treatment plan. Maybe we will be able to help people through our experiences.  I will say, I am taking a mountain of supplements if you want to know what they are, send me a PM and I'll give you a list.
