Hi everyone,

I have made some postings on this forum before and want to provide an update. Firstly, background wise I was diagnosed with peyronie's disease which is mainly in the base of my penis. It's affected me for over 10 years. What I am doing has by no means 'cured' anything but I have been (so far) able to move forward with my life despite the condition. Here are some main things I do -

I am convinced that above all (again, at least in my case) I was not doing enough in my life to get past this problem. What I mean by that is mainly a lack of knowledge on how to live a healthy life and too high expectations of what 'healthy' male sexual function should look like.

Here are some changes I have made:

1- I slow cook steel cut oatmeal / prep it every night so that when I wake the first thing I do is eat a big bowl with no added sugars (maple syrup yes). This is known to be amazing for cardiovascular/gluten levels throughout the day

2- I prep 1 liter of organic smoothie the night before which includes seeds, nuts, vegetables (mixed greens, cucumber, celery, carrots, etc.), fruit (Blueberries, Banana, Kiwi, Pineapple, Apple, etc.). I drink 1 liter of this each day and the oatmeal no matter what.

3- WHEN I feel stressed out and hopeless instead of recirculating the same thoughts over and over again I read a book. I got rid of my cable and TV. Personally, I mainly read non-fiction and a mix of historical / psychology books. I'm especially into the ones that are science based (not 'fluffy' self-help) and deal with human motivation, leadership, mastery, happiness, etc. A book is like meditation for me - After a half hour of reading/learning my mind is clearer and more relaxed. Whether my girlfriend or another being on the ball intellectually I know is a major turn on and gives her a sense of security being with me.

4- Largely as a result of the above 3 I sleep better. Without the screen at night and by regulating my diet / blood sugar levels it's amazing how much more energy I have throughout the day / how it impacts my sleep patterns.

5- I masturbate and watch less porn. Personally, unlike nofap I think a little bit is alright but I try to keep it to less than once per week. Also, I have a girlfriend so if we are fornicating say like once every 4-5 days on average. If I watch porn I revert to not touching myself. I find 15 minutes or so once and a while healthy but that's just me. Then, if haven't had sex for a few days and I'm with my girlfriend it's even more on my mind.

6- I am determined to succeed at a high level at work. I work in a corporate environment and with these better sleeps, better lifestyle (believe it or not bosses like that you have productive good hobbies outside of work), etc. I have more energy. I've been focused on during the week arriving at 7:30 (most arrive at 8 ish) and no earlier than 4:30 and typically 5:00-5:30 (most leave shortly after 4). The security I have in my job, combined with more energy, better appearance, more knowledge from reading (girls like intelligence, trust me), etc. makes me feel more confident. Channel your energy into stuff like this and it will pay dividends on the female front, trust me..

7- I drink alcohol almost not at all and I am 100% okay with that. What I mean by 100% okay with that is that I no longer hang out with my friends around a table for hours as they (or we as I succumb) drink up. I've realized that largely as a result of this health problem I am not 'in my element' when I was out at the bar anyway. However, I am in my element when I play sports (I played ice hockey 2 days ago with friends), go snowboarding (going for a long weekend at an amazing hill with my gf who is a lot of fun to spend time with for Christmas). I go with friends to the pool on half off Wednesdays. Go to the movies and book the Cineplex AVX days in advance for Tuesdays. Just sent 20 Christmas cards. I also just ran a marathon and am training with my manager who runs Ironmans and asked me to sign up for one in 4 months. I use sports as an excuse for not drinking as well but I mainly just politely decline drinks and those situations and when in them drink very moderately. For example, I went to a Christmas potluck/party with friends 2 days ago. I had 1 beer and a half a glass of Proseco but hung out for like 6 hours. There was a potluck and a lot of conversation / nice girls to talk to. I felt like one of the 'cool' guys as I have a good job, am in good health, have a learning attitude and am knowledgeable from reading, etc. People were glad I was there and frankly if I was single I didn't feel at a disadvantage! When they went out to the bar at 1am I just called it a night, who cares! It was a blast and people were none the wiser. I met up with the gang the following lunch hour for a round of ice hockey and wasn't even hung over.. good times. So yeah, cut out all the non-positive things (like drinking frequently or not in extreme moderation) - if done right/positively it won't affect your social life in any negative ways.

Anyhow, one big missing link guys is to see the positive in one's situation. If I didn't have Peyronie's disease I would likely not have done all of the above things to make my life as enjoyable again. The insecurity I get out of having this condition keeps me in check and pushes me to be the best I can regarding the things I CAN control in my life. I know that if I don't maintain all of the above my ED could and would be likely to worsen. So in this way I am grateful to have gotten peyronie's disease. Without it I would be a totally different person and all of the above changes are for the best.

On the sex front I find that I am able to have good sex once every 4-5 days and that overtime as my life/mind/overall body has improved my ability in this sexual arena has also improved. Maybe it's healthy sperm and fertility (all the above has to be good For that at least) because the plaque is still there. I also take a low dose of L Arginine and Pycnogenol every other say on average (in addition to a circulation boost and being an anti-inflammatory (which as to be a good thing Petronies wise) pycnogenol does have other positive benefits and if my girlfriend sees it in my cupboard it says 'anti-aging', beneficial towards 'ADHD', etc.).

So yeah, make good changes in your life to fight Peyronie's disease and livE a better life. Then MAYBE, just maybe, you could one day look back and be happy for the way this condition has influenced your life.

Love to hear what other people have to say and I hope you all have a pleasant holiday season / make sound progress in 2016

Sounds like you have found a good path.  If you are both stable and able, maybe not so bad at all.  Otherwise, you have made some very positive moves.  Maybe a blessing...all be it mixed.
