One of the links you have provided states:
QuoteIn preliminary studies, all patients involved had significant improvement in erections, decrease in plaque size, and decrease in degree of curvature.
Sounds very good!!!
Maybe you know where can read those studies?

Florida Urologist Publishes Exciting Results of Stem Cell Treatment for Peyronie's Disease – Press Release Rocket

About | UroStem

No one yet showed 2 conviencing pictures of the same patient before and after treatment ever. Even those done from Xiaflex injections far from I personally named "healing" or "significant improvement". Let's wait until broader scientific community confirms.

Born 1985, Peyronie's since 2011/12. Lost approximately 3 cm of length and seriously bottlenecked.

Youngdude22

If I remember correctly the sample size was only 5 people. At least they are trying!

Pfract

It's always Good to read positive news on this subject, but I am not to excited about stem cells. The "treatment" is still in it's infancy and the majority of the medical community says we are still years ahead of promising treatments with stem cells.  Wish full thinking on my opinion.

Pfract

Not to mention that the journal on which the publication as made sounds sketchy.

Lucketts

Dr. Zahalsky did make a presentation of stem cell injections on peyronies to the the Southeastern Chapter of the American Urological Association.  This could potentially be a very exciting new development, and perhaps even a quasi "cure" to this disease.  But it is very difficult to get any printed matter on this protocol from either his office or from the association. To my knowledge, the doctor also owns the company that is involved in producing the stem cells, which are taken from the patient's body.  Not of course a reason to rule this out, but interesting to note.  Let's hope that in the near future, we see clinical trials, abstracts, and of course before and after pictures of this new treatment.

A couple of years and our conditions will improve significantly. Japan changed its law on stem cells and regenerative medicine treatments a couple weeks ago. I consider that some kind of a breach in a wall that it will boost up the entire field: things  will start to come out faster than expected and not because medicine can't wait to cure us but because who is late will not participate to the big market that regenerative medicine represents.

Anyway I'll probably have an important chat with a person involved in the field soon and no one more than it will be able to tell me how much we have to wait before seiing our penises working as we just remember again. I'll keep you informed.

My daughter is currently involved in an FDA study of stem cell therapy to regenerate her liver, after killing off most of it to kill a MRSA infection.  Up until now, such an infection in the liver has been 100% fatal.  She was given 3 months to live back in January.  They are currently struggling to keep her immune system suppressed enough for the stem cells to "take", as she has an abnormally high white cell count...indicating an overactive immune system.

Of course having an overactive immune system is a two edged sword.  It kept her alive but also interfered with finding the actual reason her liver kept crashing and is now interfering with the stem cells.  It took over a year for them to figure out exactly what infection she had.  Once they did, her liver specialist is the one who gave her 3 months to live.  He also connected her with another liver Dr who was doing this study, and she is one of ten involved with it.  They have basically used chemo drugs to "kill everything but the patient", much like cancer treatment.

At any rate, stem cell therapies/transplants are very promising for PDS and for a variety of other medical issues.

Hey Jack1909, are you Brazilian too? I am managing to go to see Egydio on 3th. Do you guys want me asking something to him?

krazylord

Hi All,

I have also written an e-mail to urology to find out more about Dr. Zahalksy and whether he can help with Peyronie plaques and mild corporal fibrosis, like in my case, since I have both a palpable plaque in the septum in the middle of the penis at the very base/root of the penis as well as some mild corporal fibrosis at the base, due to using a penis extender. Both were diagnosed by Dr. Irwin Goldstein, and the palpable plaque (only palpable in flaccid) has been confirmed by at least 3 other urologist experts in andrology.

I am really hoping that Dr. Zahalsky can help on improving or even almost curing this fibrosis, whether palpable plaques or general fibrosis, so that it can also help the ED associated with it.

Good luck to all.

Jack1909

I'm sorry for your daughter, best wishes Kuaka!

I'm not Brazilian but I speak a little Portuguese. Good luck with Egydio they say he definitely can get peyronie suffers back to a normal life. Would be interesting knowing a little more about the grafts he uses and if thinks they will be outdated soon because the progresses we are looking at.

Glad to hear this. And best of luck for your daughter.

Egydio seems to be an honest guy and the price is just 550 reals plus 1500 reals for the computer exam. Price nowadays is 4 to 1. So, basically you guys can have his opinion and exam for 500 dollars. Plus around 1500 dollars for the fly and Brazilian documents. I have heard that his surgery is around 25000 reals, but I am not sure about that though.

Apparently a Powerpoint Presentation with details and pictures:

Definitely an avenue worth exploring, but keep in mind that no changes in stretched length or girth were noted:

Seeing those links, make a me a bit less skeptical of this doctor and his stem cell "research", but still i am unable to trust this. Sounds to me like many people just like wishful thinking and believing in a cure that unfortunately won't exist so soon!

Lucketts

I know it's laborious, but don't know why there aren't full blown clinical trials, perhaps through NIH on stem cell treatments for peyronies.  I have investigated stem cell treatments from your own body for other areas, such as a torn meniscus.  Right now there are some docs trying this, but most of the mainstream docs are not.  They all say that body stem cell treatments are still 10 years away.

lgrace

I am however very skeptical of these results. This is not an independent study and you just have to "take the Dr´s word" on them. I have grown tired of expressions such as "the team is thrilled", "very promising" etc as such terminology was used for Xiaflex but I would describe the results as being "sometimes moderately efficient" at the very best.

It is nevertheless positive that new therapies are tried and tested. If it can bring some relief to some men, than it´s fine with me.

What strikes me in the Zahalsky results is that even for the cases in which plaques are said to have completely disappeared, there were no changes in stretched length. Which means that the tunica lacks elasticity even when the plaque is completely gone.

Lucketts

I remember that when I once mentioned stem cell to a urologist, he kind of muttered that it might be good post- surgery.

Stem cell certainly is cutting edge for peyronies.  However, on the positive side, Dr. Z has presented his paper to the Southeastern Chapter of the American Urological Society.  The topic probably has to accepted by this body before he could have presented it.  And maybe, just maybe, one isolated doc working in So. Fla. can be on to something big.  Time will tell.

krazylord

I might be doing Dr. Zahalksky stem cell. I will report back about how it went. These are the things I would like to address: sensitivity loss, hard Peyronie's plaque at the base of the penis and other deformities in flaccid/semi-rigid like hourglass and ring-like lumps that probably require intralesional injections in the tunica albuginea.

We need to help each other and share knowledge and hopefully we will all find a cure for these horrible penis issues.

krazylord

Hi NeoV,

You can just contact Zr. Z clinic, in Florida. Just call them up and set an appointment.

NeoV

The study seems too limited to warrant taking action on it for me just yet. Hopefully they do more studies on it. It seems to me that any fluid injected into the penis can produce results like this, am I wrong? I wonder how a study on Peyronie's and PRP would do in a similar study, and why hasn't there been one yet?

From NeoV:

You may get the answer on the PRP topics.
For most of us the results (if any) don't lasted.

I asked many Times what EU doctors are buying their protocol. No answer or confused ones. To me it means that this stuff is the classic stem cells protocol which does not work. We did not see one single positive feedback except for their own...it's really strange.

james1947

Not strange yyy, they are making big money from the procedure :)

Hi James and others.

Sorry I have been not writing for some time. It has been on purpose. I have been through a lot of mental stress due to the this horrible desease and needed some time off.

I wanted to tell you that I have been in Dr. Zahalsky's office. I spent 4 hours with him and his team a week ago, and he did the Amniotic Placental growth factors + PRP from your own blood procedure. The purpose of this was:

1) Inject it in my peyronie's plaque in the septum right at the base of the penis. It cannot be seen by ultrasound due to its complicated location but it can be palpated.

2) Inject it in the corpora cavernosum to improve my mild fibrosis.

He was able to access the plaque and inject it there. Also, my main goal is to improve my penile deformity, which is very unaesthetic, although it is only present in flaccid and semi-erect and goes away when fully erect. Also, hopefully to improve erections and be able to maintain it as before the injury.

It has been a week so far and this needs several weeks to start working. Also, it needs several treatments. I have another one in 6 weeks.

I will keep you posted on my progress.

Pfract

Thanks for an update on your situation krazylord! Keep us posted!

yyy

Hi Krazylord

did you see any proof of success about other patients? Ultrasound, photos, documents, anything

Lucketts

Yes, Krazylord, please describe your experience and results as much as possible. Dr. Z seems to be a lone wolf in stem cell for peyronies, but sometimes in medicine and science, lone wolfs have it right.  It would be a wonderful breakthrough if his treatment does work.  One poster I think said that he would be presenting a paper in a conference in San Diego sometime on peyronies. Did he by chance mention that?  Anything else in your experience worth letting us know?

krazylord

Hi guys,

I did not see any proof of success on other patients, but I definitely saw more patients the same day for the same procedure. I was told that other patients where getting better (morning wood and harder erections). Also there was an article recently published about a patient of Dr. Z that I already knew about. You can see the article here: Can Stem Cells Cure Erectile Dysfunction?

Also, it is worth mentioning that Dr. Z does not know if there are stem cells in the placenta amniotic fluid he injects or not. He is more interested in the cytokines and growth factors themselves, and that he knows.

So far I have not seen any improvements in deformation, plaque pain or erection quality. And I will not know about the plaque itself until I get back. But I will keep you posted on my progress.

I don't know of any conference in San Diego, so I can't comment on that.

yyy

krazylord?

Was the procedure performed in local anesthesia? Was it painful? Was it a normal needle or a bigger one? thanks

krazylord

Hi yyy,

It was local anesthesia. It was not very painful, but there was some pain. In my case, the very last injection did hurt a lot, and it even made me almost pass out because I did panic. And the penis look really bad for a week (black with hematomas everywhere and pain in different places). After almost 2 weeks now, all of that is gone. But it is not something one would be looking for (the procedure).

Their team is great though. They all care about you in a way that makes you feel like home. Very nice people, including Dr. Z, who is very honest. He said this is still investigational, but that it is working so far.

yyy

Were you assured in the first place that the black penis and the pains would have been normal?

krazylord

Hi yyy,

Yes I was. I it is common in all people that goes through this procedure.

Lucketts

Krazylord,

Dr Z may have come up w/ a revolutionary treatment for peyronies......or not.

I know that he is a reputable uro, w/ good credentials.  I know that he has presented papers on stem cells and peyronies to the American Urological Association, notably the SE Chapter.

The contents and papers for those proceedings are proprietary, and difficult to access.

Every doc would like more business.  Any chance that you could let him know that you are a member of a widely read forum.  And that its members would love to read any papers he's presented.  And after having read them, he might get new patients.

Maybe he would even come on this forum, where he would be treated respectfully.

                    Lucketts

yyy

PRP alone does not give purple penis, bruising etc so I suppose the effects are caused by the placental growth factors...or by a bigger needle

krazylord

You might be right yyy. But I hear that from stem cell procedures thats what you get. Also, the needle I think is a bit bigger, probably.

krazylord

Hi Luckets,

I mentioned him about the forum. I will ask him about coming here to talk with all of us.

Thanks,

krazylord

Hi guys,

I just wanted to mention that I believe that my plaque has diminished. I can't really feel it lile I used to. I will let Dr. Z decide whether that's true or not. Since the plaque is very hard to locate it might be just me not finding it or may be it indeed got better.

I'll keep you posted.

Victor.

yyy

did the lump cause you a curvature? did Dr.Z find a thickening of your tunica during the ultrasound? thanks for replying

krazylord

Hi yyy,

The plaque was right at the base in the septum, and it did not caused any curvature. It was just pain in flaccid and with an erection right whee the penis joins the abdomen.

I have not noticed any other improvement though. But just wanted to give you guys some heads up.

Dr. Tom Lue is the only one who said that I have tunica thickening (septum) in the middle of the penis along the shaft, but nobody else ever told me that.

yyy

Hey krazylord

Can you give us an update? Feelings, if you think the plaque is reduced to the touch, erection quality. Thanks for your help.

krazylord

Hi yyy,

The plaque feels a bit bigger right now rather than smaller. I talked to Dr. Zahalsky today and he says that during the first 6 weeks thats to be expected as a result of inflammation. I will report back in a month about it again.

Erection quality has not changed either. I will also report back in month or so.

Thanks,
