Hi guys

I know this question has been asked many moons ago but there doesn't appear to have been any general consensus.

Peyronies has been stable (touch wood) for about 6 mths, still on Pentox/L Arginine + Cialis (low dose every 2nd night) which has had a fantastic effect on nighttime and morning erections however was looking to start on Rogaine foam for early thinning hair.

Propecia/Finasteride and the effects it has on DHT is bad news for downstairs by the looks of it however I wanted to hear from anyone who's using Rogaine/Minoxidil foam and whether they've had any adverse affects Peyronies wise or with general erection quality and penile health?

Obviously I dont want to do anything to make things worse downstairs so interested in the forums views on this as Im sure theres many people who use this.

Thanks for any help provided.

It is suspected that Rogaine/Minoxidil works by lowering DHT.

Nelson

Thats interesting Drew, thanks for the response. Everything I've read and been told has indicated that Minoxidil is limited in what it can do in that it doesn't limit the production of DHT ie its not a DHT blocker. But I dont want to go down the path of Propecia after reading the stories of other forum members. And it's not that bad at this stage.

Spoke to my Peyronie's specialist via text who said it shouldn't have any impact, so that's reassuring.

Still interested to hear from anyone currently using it.

Cheers

No, don't go down the path of Propecia!!!
Done it, it was a disaster with ED, but even now, after stopped for 7 years I sometimes grow some black hair here or there on my body.
I had never any black hairs before.

Age 71, Peyronies from Jan 2009 following penis fracture during sex. Severe ED.
Lost 2" length and a lot of girth. Late start, still VED, Cialis & Pentox helped. Prostate surgery 2014.
Got amazing support on the forum

Lol, why even after so many posts regarding post finasteride syndrome, and all the accounts of ED people still want to try this crap. Go ahead, and enjoy your ED afterwards. 😇

Also, check out the video on the subject on the erectile dysfunction section of this forum.

Sorry James/Pfract, just to confirm I would never go down the path of Propecia...I've read the horror stories don't worry!!

My Peyronies specialist was referring to topical Minoxidil being safe re impacting Peyronies, I didn't even ask about Propecia as its never been a consideration.

This post is strictly about topical Rogaine/Minoxidil, the everyday over the counter foam/lotion. Not Finasteride/Proscar etc anything that affects DHT production/testosterone etc. I fiigured there would be some forum posters who used this product given its popularity and could provide feedback re any issues encountered with their conditions/libido etc.

Sorry for any confusion.

Nelson, your uro said rogaine won;t interfere with DHT but ask him the mechanism of action for rogaine and he will have no clue.  So I'm not sure how he can say it will have no effect on DHT

Nelson

Thats true Drew, no-one knows how it works or the mechanism behind it, though everything I've read states its effectiveness is limited as it does not affect the levels of DHT ie its not a 5a reductase inhibitor. So I thought it was the safe option in comparison to anything taken orally.

Doesn't sound like there's anyone out there using the stuff so maybe that's a sign...

Thanks anyway guys.
