Currently taking 3 x 750mg of powdered Acetyl L-Carnitine daily, it being pure ALC.

But how much powdered Citrulline Malate do you take, with the 2:1 ratio?

Thanks guys as always.

The 2:1 citrulline malate is 72% citrulline by weight so about 2.1g per day is needed to get the required 1.5g l-citrulline.

I've been taking nearer 3g per day split into 2 doses since I can't weight it that accurately and I rely on the scoop in the bag (I half fill it).

I noticed that bodybuilders are using more than this.

Hi Rich,

Used your referral code for Bulk powders at the end of June, it seems Bulk powders and Peak supps both advise quite large doses of the Citrulline Malate, albeit for bodybuilding. Bp's 100g Citrulline Malate had a 5g scoop in it, giving 3g in weight of powder, they advise this is a pre workout dose.

Peak supps advise taking 3 - 5g, 1 to 2 times daily. They also mention some like to take 7g pre-workout. They don't include scoops.

My current Citrulline Malate dose is a 3g level scoop, giving a 2.25g amount of powder. So I am taking nearly 7g a day (3x 2.25g) , as I gathered you need more Citrulline Malate than ALC to be effective. I may cut this down to 3 x 1.5g daily.

I find the powders dilute very easy in carbonated juice. Currently add both powders to a glass of carbonated drink and have with each meal a day.

Also upped my Pentoxifylline 400mg to 4 a day, up from 3 a day. I measured a half cm decrease in bottom girth, but a 3mm increase in top girth, below head. (Erect) Can't tell if angle is much different. Did the same with CoQ10, used to take 3 x 100mg, now take 4 a day. I think the pentoxifylline is tolerated quite well by younger people, me, 27, notice no side effects.

Oh, and how much ALC do you take Rich? I suppose my next question open to all is what is the best amounts of ALC and Citrulline Malate to take? I know I have discussed powders before but maybe there's new information, noticed a Di Arginine Malate on Bp, not saw it before...

Just one remark Pressure:
QuoteI measured a half cm decrease in bottom girth, but a 3mm increase in top girth, below head.
3 and 5 mm are too minor numbers and it may be the result of stronger/weaker erection. Just my opinion. :)

Thanks Pressure. BP sent me an email to say someone had used the code.

I am taking about a level scoop (or just over) of ALC twice a day. According to Bulk Powders this is about 1.5g per day. The study below suggests 1g twice per day so perhaps I should increase my dose:
Acetyl-L-carnitine vs tamoxifen in the oral therapy of Peyronie's disease: a preliminary report. - PubMed - NCBI

Yes, BP and peaksupps do suggest taking quite a lot of citrulline malate. It will be interesting to see what others say about this. I just went by this study saying 1.5g of l-citrulline per day for mild ED:
Oral L-citrulline supplementation improves erection hardness in men with mild erectile dysfunction. - PubMed - NCBI

I am taking both ALC and citrulline malate on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal.

I couldn't find much info about Di Arginine Malate but it seems it works in a similar way.

Perspex

Thought I'd describe my experience with Citrulline malate. It could be useful as I am taking no other supplements or medication, so I'm pretty sure of its effects on me

Currently my work is very physical and so I take my 2 doses a day to coincide with my two shifts a day, so at least I can maximise its possible effects during exercise. It seems to improve my stamina and the leg burn seems to go on for a much shorter time.

More to the point I notice that at night I am getting very hard uncontrolled erections while I sleep. This is definitely coinciding with me taking citrulline malate. So this appears to show its positive effect on circulation.

I started tentatively with about 1.5g (2.1) an hour before my shift. (So 3g a day... it suggest 5g on the bag). Now I am comfortable taking 2.5g before each shift (5g total a day).

Perspex;

I do a lot of gym work. Like you I take it twice a day. No doubt it helps with my gym work and at age 66 I still have no problems getting a good erection.

I too have had positive experiences in the past with CM. There was a semester in college where 5 days of the week I would lift in the morning and then play basketball at night. Usually my nightly basketball performance would be sub par due to a heavy lift in the AM. I started taking CM without adding other new supplements at the time. I noticed that I was not fatigued during my nightly basketball and that I was much less sore or not sore at all the next day. I was taking a large dose, somewhere around 10-12g daily.

Little bit off topic perhaps, but has anybody else noticed lower libido while taking arginine or citrulline malate? I have same effect with both of those, after a while the semen volume decreases heavily (like shooting "dry"), tests feel smaller, and libido goes down.  From arginine I didn't have any good effects whatsoever, but CM did give pretty crazy erections at the beginning before this happens.  Tried it 3-4 times now, taking it for few weeks or months. Always the same.

I know they claim that arginine can lower test levels, but I always thought at least CM wouldn't do that?

Hi GuitarHero. I haven't noticed any effect on libido, semen volume or testicle size. The improvement in erection strength may be more apparent when starting to take citrulline malate (the effect may wear off after a few weeks or so). For myself, it's hard to be sure if this is psychological.

Interesting recent contributions guys.

Well, I've stopped taking both Citrulline malate and Acetyl L-Carnitine completely, from 3 grams of Citrulline malate daily and 2 grams of Acetyl L-Carnitine daily.

I felt they were the main contributing factor to my premature receding hair line (age 27)

But I am now taking Taurine (500mg) alone in an attempt to combat more hair loss.

I'm taking 1g twice a day (2000mg in total)

Does anyone know if Taurine will have any effect on a receding hairline at all?

Or am I fooling myself into taking it as a placebo replacement for the Citrulline malate and Acetyl L-Carnitine?

Thanks guys.
