Hi all,

New member here obviously since I'm posting in this section.  I'm 55 and I've had the condition about a year.  As best as I can tell and remember it started after an intense jack-off session with someone.  I didn't feel any pain actually in my penis but actually thought I had pulled a muscle in my stomach.  A few months after was when I started noticing the bend.  I don't have any issue getting an erection.  It's not painful but somewhat sensitive when I'm really hard.  But due to the angle of the bend can make penetration a little difficult with my partner.

I did a little research, thought peyronies was what it was, and made an appointment with a urologist a few weeks ago.  I told them what I thought it was and they indicated they worked with peyronies patents

The Dr. looked at my pics (they had requested in advance), measured the angle on the pics and felt my penis and said defiantly that's what it was.

He basically said I could do nothing and just wait and see, or try the traction device or Xiaflex injections.  The info he gave me on Xiaflex had some fairly sever warnings so I thought the traction device was the betting starting option.  I contacted him back and said that's what I wished to do.

At that point is where it became very frustrating and worrisome.  I was basically told to get one off the internet and follow whatever the manufacturer.  I pushed a little more and the nurse gave me one website that offered these but said the doctor indicated "I cannot recommend a specific one since I do not have any personal experience with them.

Is this just me?  I was just about to email the Dr. back and say thanks but I'll find a more qualified professional for this and BTW...I'd like a refund.  But I thought I'd first see what others experiences have been.

Thanks

Stabler

Hello,

Welcome to the forum and YES!!!! find a new doctor

https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,4063.0.html
go to this list and find one of the specialist closest to your area.

We have many members here that use traction devices along with VED and meds that can reccomend different types please go through and read those boards and post your questions, everyone here is very happy to help. While Xiaflex is one medication option there are oral meds like Pentox that can be used as well along with Cialis and other OTC products.

If this urologist told you that he specialized in Peyronies he misled you. Did you have an ultrasound done? if so make sure that you get a copy of the result for when you go to the real urologist that specializes in Peyronies.

Please read the Survial Guide
Peyronies Survival Guide - Information for New Members - Peyronies Society Forums
It has plenty of information that willhelp you before you go to the urologist, it is kind of a check list for you to make sure you are prepared for the visit.

I hope you find this an informative place and that you feel at home here we really want to be helpful to you, Ask us anything

I agree with stabler...if he claimed to specialize in Peyronie's and went straight for xiaflex, I would find a different uro.

While I don't believe it absolutely necessary to get an ultrasound for a proper diagnosis, one is most definitely needed if you go the xiaflex route, or any other method which addresses the plaque directly (not really a good name for it, as it isn't anything like dental plaque).

Consider traction/VED and some other approaches discussed here first.  Since you are actually still able to penetrate, you are fortunate in my book.  Scar softening supplements, traction, VED and Pentox/Cialis are where I am right now, and I am making progress.

If you look in the appropriate sections, you can see that I have made my own traction and VED devices.  If you are handy like that, you can save a bundle.  My traction device set me back a whole $7, and I have about $50 in my VED...but already had the vacuum pump.

Good luck.

New member here too.  I'm 56 and I've had the bent condition about a year and recently have difficulty with penetration.
I did a little research, thought peyronies as the situation now gets frustrating.. your feedback and experience on the treatment options would be most appreciated..

Have you been diagnosed?  If not, see a competent Urologist. An ultrasound scan will establish the extent of any plaque and if there is calcification.

Treatment option, opinions etc, you can read about here on this forum. But, make sure you know what you're dealing with before you attempt to treat it.

Ī¤hank you guys..It seems that I have a lot of homework to do.. I am also checking for specialists in London...

gerry,

If you are in London, you are near the London Andrology Institute, which seems to be on the cutting edge of a more appropriate surgical solution than a Nesbitt Plication.  There is a member here who has recently gone through the surgery, and we are anxiously awaiting his reports of how it went.  Surgery is and should be a "last resort", as it is a new injury and may cause additional scarring...but it is worth knowing about.
