Does anyone know if traction stretches the plaques or how does it work to straighten out your penis? Thanks.

It stretches either the plaques or the healthy tunica around the plaques, or both. The effect is the same regardless.

The objective is to make the "stretched length" of the Tunica nearly the same on all sides.  How it achieves that is somewhat immaterial.  Obviously if the plaque is a lump, that is its own problem.

is this better done in the acute or chronic phase?

My personal experience so far...

I started traction almost immediately after Peyronies Disease manifested.  Immediate results were the elimination of the dimples and bumps and the majority of the pain.  I still have a long way to go before I get a nominally functional penis back.

My personal opinion is that treatment should begin as soon as possible.  If the plaque is in flux...that is, not stable...it seems to me that that is the best time to stretch it.

Just my opinion.
