Hello,

I am a 20 year old male and i had Nesbit's procedure carried out 4 days ago. I am posting this because I have some worries and I want to know if this is normal to happen after the procedure. My penis is still very swollen and 'bruised' on some areas (it's a purple-black color). After the surgery, when i first went to the bathroom, it started bleeding from a small cut on the outside, but the nurses said that it is fine as this can happen sometimes, but it still bleeds from that place everyday. Today, when I was in the shower I tried to wash it a little bit on the head (I had to stick my finger in there because I can't even pull the skin backwards, but only so I can touch the head) and it started bleeding from some place from the inside as well and it is still bleeding from there now. Are those normal things that can happen? Besides the fact that is swollen as that is normal, but I am worried about the bleedings.

Thank you for your help.

You see the surgeon who did the surgery ASAP. The bleeding may be normal, but you need to know for sure. One can expect some bleeding from any penile surgery, but not very much. So, you need to get his viewpoint about the bleeding sooner, not later.

The swelling and bruising are normal and will take several weeks to heal up. But I agree with Old Man I would be concerned about the bleeding. If it is very slow "seeping" I would suggest wrapping it or applying some pressure to help it stop. And yes this "Bleeding from the inside" you need to get checked right away.

Thank you for your advices. I am not able to see the doctor who performed the surgery as I am in my home country for the summer holiday at the moment (I had the surgery in another country, where I am studying). I e-mailed my doctor and he said that is not unusual to get some blood seep out from under the foreskin as that is where the incision is.

Keep close watch on it, hopefully will stop soon.

An update on my situation: the place that was bleeding before (on the outside), now looks like a cut and it is white. Does it mean that it's healing or is there a complication? The doctor that performed the surgery is on leave and is unable to respond to my e-mails. Should I go to a local doctor here, in my country and have it checked? Thank you.

It seems to me that the place it's healing, but I am not a doctor.
In my opinion, even just to relax and not to worry, you should see a doctor.
