Measurement question...and some rambling.

Ok, I'm pretty new to this whole thing still, and I want to make certain that I'm understanding/using a measurement properly.

When discussing the degree of curvature, is it relative to the "straight" penis?  That is, is a 5 degree curvature only a slight bend and a 25 degree curvature significantly more bent?  It would seem obvious, but some of the statements I read on the web are confused.  A straight penis can be at an angle relative to the pelvic bone, and should be within a range of normality.  The best I can tell is that angle is essentially unimportant (unless the plaque is so close to the base as to interfere with it), and is NOT a part of the "measure".

Prior to my development of this disease, I went through a round of porn induced ED (PIED).  It was after...almost immediately after...I recovered from that when I first noticed the curve...it came on suddenly.  I was "over" the PIED to the point of waking up with morning wood at the "towel hanger" strength with no discernible curvature immediately prior to development of this.  Even during my PIED times, I could and would get erections (while engaging in PMO activity) which were mostly straight...a slight curve my whole life but nothing significant.  It is this "coincidence" which has me thinking that my Peyronies Disease would have come on earlier if not for the PMO activity...essentially keeping the tissue flexible through up to 4x daily manipulation of it.  While my significant injury was many years ago (30+), it is entirely possible that I had been effectively preventing Peyronies Disease all those years.

It is unfortunate that sexual function is such a forbidden topic in our puritanical society.

Yes, the angle to be measured is the deviation of the penis from its own centerline (an imaginary line running straight down its length) when it was "normal" ... NOT the angle at which the erection orients coming from the body (humorously referred to as the "angle of dangle"). Think of it as if a man were standing, his feet representing 6 o'clock, his head 12 o'clock.  His erection might "hang" at anywhere from 1 o'clock to 5 o'clock, but that has nothing to do with Peyronies Disease.

So looking strictly at the penis itself, not its relation to the body, if a perfectly straight penis is 0-degrees, a penis bent from Peyronies Disease at a right angle would be 90-degrees, etc.

51 yrs. old, multiple auto-immune conditions. First episode of Peyronies Disease in 2002. Recurred a couple times since. Over the years I have tried Topical Verapamil, Iontophoresis, all the supps and Cialis + Pentoxifylline. Still functional, always worried.

kuaka,
Nemo is correct. Angle of dangle is more commonly know as "Erection Angle" is can have 2 points of reference. More commonly is the horizontal or 3 o'clock position from the example giving. An erection at 3 o'clock would be a 0 degree from horizontal. 2 o'clock would be a +30 degree, and 4 o'clock would be a -30 degree erection angle. All of which has NOTHING to do with curvature. Curvature would be measure as stated as a curve from a 'straight' penis (regardless of erection angle).

I'm glad you asked for clarification, as this is confusing topic for many. I have actually posted directions on how to measure oneself for both measurements and you can find these here:

Thank you very much...both.  It is as I expected, but assumptions are dangerous, and I just wanted clarity.  It is probably good to bring this up from time to time for newbies here...  :)
