Since my diagnosis of Peyronies in October of 2014, I've had three verapamil injections at the VA facility (November, December, January), which didn't seem to have any positive effect; instead my upward curvature seemed to get more extreme, up to about 40 degrees.

I had an initial consultation with a civilian urologist on March 18 and he prescribed Pentox, Vitamin E and L-Arginine, which I've been taking for about a month, along with CoQ10, Korean Ginseng, Grape Seed Complex, B12, Fish Oil, Centrum Silver generic and my prescription Asacol for colitis. Based upon the advice from this forum I secured a VED from the VA facility and began the Vitality protocols about five days ago.

So far, no improvement that I can measure or report other than a banding indentation about 2/3s of the way up my penis shaft.

I'm scheduled to meet with my VA urologist on April 30 for another verapamil injection and wondered if it's worth trying that again and also wondered how long before a person can expect to see a changing in the curvature as a result of the oral treatment and VED protocols? I still experience some pain with erections, which come about naturally (no Erectile Dysfunction) during intimate moments with my wife and during my sleep. I still enjoy normal orgasms and ejaculations, so things aren't all bad, but I'd like to think I can get this curvature to straighten out some and the pain to subside.

Hi Busy Beaver. I got Peyronies Disease 6 years ago and within the first year had 6 of the 12 recommended verapamil injections. After the sixth one I noticed a large nodule developing and that's when I stopped. My curve also did not change. I too had banding 2/3 of the way up which caused a buckling problem during intercourse and caused pain during and afterwards.

I'm not a big proponent of Verapamil but I think some people have seen improvement, but many have seen it get worse or not improve at all. I decided to be patient knowing that Xiaflex would be on the market eventually and that's what I'm doing right now.

My curve has gone from about 50-60 degrees to 30 degrees and I've gotten all of my girth back, maybe even a little more, with help from traction.

When your active stage is over, usually within the year of onset of Peyronies Disease you should think about Xiaflex if you see no improvements in your condition.  The best of luck to you!

I think you didn't read the Verapamil topics. Invest some time in the subject.

Those treatments are a Marathon, not a sprint. It take months to see results, even some members reported results after 2, 3 months.

Thanks everyone for your responses. My VA doctor prescribed verapamil as a first course of action and I'm not sure if he's still recommending it or if the guy who calls me about appointments is making the suggestion. I'll do my verapamil research as suggested by James and decide after that.

I completely understand the marathon concept and will try to be patient. The fact that I'm still functional with no Erectile Dysfunction is a blessing in itself.

The Xiaflex treatment is one that we are all watching closely. My VA doctor wants me to keep in touch if I get it or anything else that improves the curvature. Can't wait for the pain to go away so I'm just dealing with one thing at a time.
