Hello - I visited a new urologist yesterday in the Phoenix area. He palpated my penis and told me that at my stage - still experiencing pain with erections - I wasn't ready for Xiaflex but he felt it might work for me after the pain had subsided. Meanwhile, he approved two of the supplements I am taking ( CoQ10 and Vitamin E) and prescribed Trental, three doses a day. He dismissed the Ubiquinol as being more effective for my age: 64.

After reading some of the posts here, I'm wondering what effect/affect this will have. So far, I don't have trouble getting erections but I've got an upward curve of what he thought was about 40% based upon a cell phone picture I showed him. He did NOT prescribe a low dose of Cialis, like so many others seem to be taking, perhaps because I am having natural erections and can enjoy sexual intimacy with my bride of 39 years.

He did suggest a VED but wasn't very positive about the name brand from Augusta. I'll go to that subject area on the forum to learn more about the reasoning behind that. (He was NOT very positive about traction.)

Anything I should know about the Trental/Pentox? Any other supplements I should keep taking? Currently I am taking the above supplements as well as L Arginine, Grape Seed Extract, Korean Red Ginseng, B12, a Centrum Silver-type multivitamin and my daily Mesalamine to treat colitis.

Happy you find a doctor to prescribe you Pentox.
Regarding CoQ10 vs Ubiquinol, he didn't educate himself enough:

and 100 other articles in the subject.
Regarding low dose Cialis in combination with Pentox, you may want to read the documents in the library.

Thanks James. I reviewed the articles you imbedded and will immediately switch to the Ubiquinol that I purchased after the appointment with the urologist.

Question for those of you on trental or pentox, aside from the normal side effects like upset stomach, increased sweating, not being able to sleep, jitters, etc, did anyone seem to notice increased hair growth while on pentox?  It seems like I grew more hair, and the hair I had grew, I guess it could of been normal aging but I read this article:

Hair growth-stimulating effects of cyclosporin A and FK506, potent immunosuppressants. - PubMed - NCBI

Now from everything I read, pentox is an immunosuppressant and causes the same changes as that drug as far as cytokines and the things it inhibits, so wouldn't it cause excessive hair growth as well?

Also I wonder if once one is down with pentox, will the immune system come back to what it was before taking the drug, or will an immune boosting drug need to be taken?

Thanks for anyone's replies...

Yeah, I've wondered about the possible long term effects of Pentox. I stopped taking it for the winter as I was getting one damn cold after another. However, I still seem more susceptible to whatever bug is doing the rounds.

I was on Pentox for 20 months, stopped 18 months ago, same as Jonbinspain, severe and frequent flue.
My immune system come back to normal almost immediately, I had no flue in 18 months.
Regarding hair growth. I started to grow new black hairs back when I was on Finasteride 6 years ago. Stopped Finasteride, hair growth stopped. My hair and bird became almost white slowly slowly.
While on Pentox had again some hair growth, much less that on Finasteride, but according to my wife I am still, in a very slow pace, growing black hairs. Now my hair and bird are grey again. I look younger ;D

For the second time in about 1.5 years on Pentox/Cialis, I've had to stop taking it cold due to chronic diarrhea. I'm not certain if it's due to the Pentox or the Cialis, but I've stopped them both trying to get my stomach back to normal. I figure the dehydration/inflammation that comes along with diarrhea negates any benefit I might be receiving from the Pentox/Cialis, so it's a lose/lose if I don't get the stomach back in order.

Nemo,

My stool changed on pentox as well, sometimes constipated, sometimes very loose, never seemed like a normal composition and it got sore down there from wiping after awhile.  I had upset stomach to, felt like my food wasn't digesting, maybe try probiotics with it?

I wonder if the pentox does cause hair growth then?  I mean I was always kind of hairy, so is my dad, in fact my pattern of hair seems to match his, but while on pentox I got more nose, black, bicept, and toe hair, I guess it could have been light blonde hairs growing naturally anyway, it's hard to say really, does anyone have any research on this?
