Hi guys,

Just to let you know that the guys from London Andrology Institute, that have been treating me for Peyronie's just called tell me telling that Sobi just received regulatory approval to market Xiapex for Peyronie's in Europe.

Unit now apparently it was not allowed beyond clinical trials to offer to European patients. It is also cheaper than the US. See link below for more information.

Xiaflex treatment for Peyronie's disease available now in Europe | London Andrology Institute

Great news, I am thinking of posponing surgery and start the Xiaflex treatment.

Does anybody know if insurance companies or NHS will cover the treatment?

And if the Xiaflex co-payments are only valid in the US are can they be used abroad as well?

Does anyone know why Pfizer quit the agreement with Auxilium as a distributor of Xiaflex in Europe?
Pentox, CoQ-10, L-Arginine, VED, some Chinese herbs

I don't understand why, always, we in Europe, have to be far behind the US in everything :(

That's easy to explain James...our system is gazillion times more inefficient, complex, and expensive allowing for drug companies to make way more money here than anywhere else in the world. The prescription program for senior citizens and all federal employees and federal retirees are barred by law, from getting the much lower negotiated rates that our Veteran's program gets. Why you ask? Because our political system is paid for by drug companies, oil companies, banks, etc.

Corruption and conflicts of interest are more overt than ever, but people don't really care because they are too busy watching reality TV and working two jobs to get by. My generation is the first that is not better off than our parents. Thank you Ronald Reagan for your trickle down economics. Oh wait...this is the wrong board for this... ;D

In the particular case with Xiaflex in Europe, it was only a matter of submitting the file to the authorities for extending its on-label use to Peyronie's as well.

What I am not very sure is that a full treatment cycle in UK will come around to £5600 plus doctors fees ($8500) whereas in the US it costs almost $30,000 more. In that sense it seems to me that Xiaflex launched in the US because they could get the insurance companies to pay for it whereas in Europe it seems unlikely. I spoke to my insurance company and they said unless you have a super exclusive plan then they will not sponsor it since its efficacy is quite low. I don't think NHS would be for it either given all the recent budget cuts.

So for the majority of us European patients it seems that we need to pay out out of our pocket. The London Andrology Institute guys said that they charge £300 per injection session on top of the cost of the medication which I thought was reasonable. Also they said that they will offer discount in case curvature still remains for surgery.

Still a bit unsure of what to do? Go directly for surgery and pay half or try Xiaflex and potentially pay double the money. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,

A bit of an update on the Xiaflex treatment cost in UK at the London Andrology Institute.

The vial will cost £650 per injection and the cost per visit to get the injections is £250.

Given that it is uncertain it will help with the curvature I have opted for the surgery. I have lived too long with my curvature and prefer to have a solution for good. For this reason I have booked incision and grafting based on Egydio technique with Dr Kuehhas and Dr Djakovic on April. I will update people how it goes.

Wish you good outcome from the surgery. :)
Please open a new topic on the surgery board when you will make the surgery and keep us updated.
It will help other members that will decide to go on this way.

Well once more:

Will anyone have an answer to this specific question?

The clinic at St. Peters Andrology does an all inclusive price of Xiaflex treatment for private patients not able to go onto the trial. It includes the consultation, the ultrasound, 3 Xiaflex injections and the vacuum pump needed after the injections for remodelling. I'm not sure if the 3 injections are  3 x 2 injections into the site or just 3 injections on different occasions. I haven't pursued this further because I was accepted for the trial.

It's 3x2 injections.

Each cycle of the course is two injections which are given at the same time.

In other words you visit the clinic on three occasions for injections.

Hope that's clear.

It was because Auxilium was bought out by Endo pharmaceuticals. It's no cloak and dagger stuff. Pfizer didn't want Endo and Endo didn't want Pfizer. These things happen all the time.

Reason I know is because Auxilium's ex CEO's brother is on a trial with me. Loads of people at Auxilium lost their jobs as a result of the buyout. It has nothing to do with Xiaflex.

In 2019, Can PRP and Penile Traction Device Replace Xiaflex to Treat Peyronie's Disease?
urology is advancing rapidly and clinics are beginning to use this promising combined therapy of platelet rich plasma with penile traction therapy in hopes of wound healing and tissue regeneration. New treatment options for Peyronie's disease are opening up, with benefits for patients, urologists and health insurance companies. Therapy of PRP with PTD is an effective treatment without side effects

Without side effects because like everybody knows by now, prp is a scam. That's why it has no ride effects
