When to Start with VED?

Hi fellas,

I got a "buckling injury" around 11 months ago I think, and started experiencing painful erections.  I noticed a disc of plaque when flaccid maybe 8 months ago, and finally started to see a change in shape around 3 months ago ("waisting" / hourglass below the glans, with a curve upwards maybe 35° to 45°).  It seems like I may have a little less length, but I never really had a solid measurement to begin with.

Erections can be painful with a tight or aching feeling that slowly goes, but occasionally I get away without any pain at all.  It doesn't prohibit sex, but I have to take it easy and use lubrication.  Doggy style is more painful than other positions, so I find I have to go for missionary most of the time.

Anyway, I saw a urologist about a week ago; something I'd been putting off initially, but pushed myself to book an appointment when I started to see the change in shape.  He told me about coping strategies, the downsides of surgery, the lack of efficacy in medication today, and finally to visit him again in 6 months to see if things have got better or worse.  One thing he didn't mention was VED treatment, and I'm feeling optimistic from what I've been reading on these boards.

So my main question is, should I start with VED now or wait until the erection pain is completely gone and my penis has perhaps stopped changing shape?  Bearing in mind I injured myself around 11 months ago, but only started noticing the change of shape over the last 3 months or so.

Thanks

I will start by saying that I am expressing my own opinion and the decision regarding treatment (if/what) it is yours as we are talking about your penis.
Myself didn't treated my Peyronies for 3 years and it was a disaster. Waiting is the worst thing to do. So in my opinion, you should start treatment as soon as you can.
VED - Carefully not to over-pump, read all the warnings and how to use it on thw forum
Pentox 3*400 mg daily
Low dose Cialis, I understand you don't have ED so 2.5 mg will do the job.
CoQ10 or Ubiquinol, can't tell you what as you had no time to fill your age when registered.
Don't think that your doc advise "to visit him again in 6 months to see if things have got better or worse" have some value as things will not be better in 6 months without treatment!!!

Hi James,

Thanks for the reply.  Regarding my age, I'm 34.  I was in a rush to register last night and I guess I didn't see where to fill it in.

Yeah, the doc was a nice guy but wasn't positive about any forms of treatment, citing trials where placebos had the same results as true medication etc.  He said that his job has become mainly counselling those who get Peyronies on how to live with it, but those with problems so severe that intercourse becomes impossible usually get surgery.  He didn't mention VED at all.  I'm in the UK, so my urologist is part of the NHS.

My main concern with starting VED while I still have erection pain was making things worse.  I reasoned that if the plaque hasn't yet finished developing, perhaps I could damage something and end up really messing things up.  As I can still have sex at the moment - albeit without the vigour I was accustomed to - I really don't want to sabotage things.

Of course the decision is yours tyfp, I just mentioned what you can do in the mean time, not to wait to see things going worst.
At your age you can take CoQ10.

tyfp;

Your Uro is not being very helpful. It sounds as though he doesn't want to spend much of his NHS budget.

None of us here is going to pretend that there is a guaranteed cure for Peyronies, there isn't. However, your situation can be eased, mitigated, and hopefully at least partially reversed. This is a long fight that you're now involved in. Peyronies can come on very quickly, but it rarely leaves that way.
You can read of the various supplements, etc, that we have found useful, on the site. You want a prescription for Pentox, if you can get it.
Re VED. In my opinion, if used correctly and the pain is not too bad, it won't di yiu any harm. This disease is about penile health, as much as anything. And VED is good for that as it keeps a constant supply of fresh blood going to the penis.

Thanks guys.

How would you recommend I acquire a VED device?  I understand that manually operated is best with a quick-release button and three chambers.  I doubt very much that I will be able to get one on the NHS.

Regarding the prescription of Pentox: I will try with my GP, but again I believe chances are slim.  I note that an online pharmacy I've used before stock it at £3.74 per 15 tablets.

Hi tyfp,
I havent tried this yet as I only became aware of the possibility yesterday in an appointment for something else but I was told that if a dr isn't comfortable prescribing something they can still prescribe if they get you to sign some sort of waiver, whether the drug has to be indicated for that use or not I don't know, I'm certainly going to try next time I visit.
If that fails, River Pharmacy is good for pentox but the postage is quite steep depending how much iis being purchased, might be worth getting the cialis (generic from India)at the same time.
Good luck

The problem you may encounter in the U.K. is getting it past customs. I believe Pentox is a prescription only drug in the U.K. In which case, you may have difficulties.

lonelyboy

I've had two deliveries from River ok with no problems so far.

That's interesting lonelyboy, I'll see what my GP says next time I visit.

James (or anyone else), would you care to clarify the difference between Ubiquinol and CoQ10? My understanding was that they were the same, except that Ubiquinol was better absorbed? So then wouldn't Ubiquinol be better in all cases? I am 27 and have been taking Jarrow Formulas Ubiquinol QH-Absorb 100mg/2x per day. And I am 27. Do you think this is good or should I take something different??

Thanks,

Our body uses Ubiquinol.
CoQ10 (Ubiquinone) is converted by our metabolism to Ubiquinol.
Usually after the age of 40 our body capability to make the transformation is rapidly degrading.

So taking Ubiquinol is ideal for any age. Thanks James.

Jonbinspain

dude;

Ubiquinol is always better, providing you can afford the substantial extra cost. It's far more bio-available.

As James says, science seems to indicate that the body's ability to efficiently convert Ubiquinone to Ubiquinol diminishes with age.

Thank you Jonbinspain and all!  :)

Hi guys.

Having been directed to a site selling medical grade VEDs, I see that single cylinder models are £180 and three-cylinder models directed towards Peyronie's sufferers are £200.  I'd like to get the absolute best, but I don't earn a lot so if I can save money and get the same sort of results then I'm all for it.

I see that sex toy pumps are far, far cheaper, but would they do the same job?  This for example is ridiculously cheap in comparison:

Seven Creations The Perfect Penis Pump: Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

Then there are ones like this:

Enhance Travel Pump System: Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

Should I steer clear of pumps in this market?  Are they a bad idea?

Thanks
