Has anyone noticed either of the two side effects from taking Pentox:

1) Elevated protein levels in urine?

2) Inflammation of the prostate (prostatitis)?

I guess one other question I have is has anyone noticed elevated protein in your urine around the time you were diagnosed with Peyronies, without Pentox involved as an oral treatment?

Thanks for any information you can provide!

Never checked protein levels in urine while on pentox.
Inflammation of the prostate (prostatitis) may be a result of the immune system weakening, personally didn't had that.

I never noticed pentox worsening ni prostate issues, though I was only on for 3 months. I don't think there's reason to suspect it to be a problem. Any ideas?

@ NeoV -

When I was first diagnosed with Peyronies Disease in 01/2013, I was immediately put on Pentox. Not long after that, maybe in March, I visited a different URO for a second opinion. They ended up calling me (the next day maybe) and telling me that the level of protein in my urine was really high and to come back in for full blood work. I also started to noticed this bloating feeling in my kidneys and thought for sure something was seriously wrong with my body.

Since this was two years ago, the timeline of events are pretty hard to remember. The blood work checked back fine, but I was still expelling large amounts of protein, but not as bad as the one urine drop when the URO frantically called me. I had an ultrasound done of my kidneys and was told they look fine. My kidney doc wanted me to give a 24 hour urine sample, but for some reason I said screw it. I took myself of Pentox and ended up going on vacation to Florida to clear my head. The problems kind of disappeared (I think). I purchased test strips to check my own urine at home and recall getting trace amounts (which can be normal) but nothing overwhelming. After checking my urine a few times I said to hell with it, out of sight, out of mind.

Recently, after expressing interest with Dr Levine (12/2014) at getting xiaflex injections, I decided to start up the Pentox again after reading here about how people thought it had really benefited them with their Peyronies Disease. I can't remember the exact start date, but it was maybe 2 weeks ago, possibly 3. Definitely not longer than that though. Since then, I had started sleeping with a new female. Erections during our two sexual encounters have been a problem, even with Cialis, but I attributed it to just being with someone new and having to discuss my Peyronies Disease with her (more of an anxiety issue).

After we had sex on 2/1, the next day I noticed a swelling in my abdomen accompanied by some pain if I were to lean that area (more so at the base of the penis) against a counter top for example. Two days later I went to my GP who took two urine samples. One to check for a bacterial infection, and one to check for STDs. Well I got the results today and everything came back negative. My URO thinks I was having prostate issues and that I nipped it in the butt early by getting on antibiotics so quickly. However, I'm not quite sure if that's the case. The antibiotics could just be masking the symptoms of the prostatitis because they contain anti-inflammatory agents. The URO said they usually prescribe a 2-4 week supply of antibiotics for prostatitis so he wrote me another two week script.

I just ran out of the initial 7 day supply of bactrim a few mins ago when I took the last of the 14 pills. I think my URO wants me to wait and see what happens without the meds to see if the inflammation comes back. I'm debating on taking the other two week supply with no break or playing wait and see now that I finished the 7 day supply. Anyway, I have this strange feeling that the Pentox is behind this based on what I think it did to me before. I've decided to not take anymore Pentox. I'll stick to supplements, a healthy lifestyle, and lots of exercise.

My symptoms that started the 1-2 days after sex on 2/1 are; frequency of urination and a swollen bladder feeling. The bactrim seemed to help until today after the dr visit. He told me I was retaining urine (about 4 oz). I felt like I had peed all I could (or damn near) when I gave the urine sample. My mind could be playing tricks on me but it almost feels like the swelling or something is still present down there and never went away.

What I think happened is the prostatitis started to occur around when I started taking Pentox again, and sex on 2/1 aggravated the hell out of my prostate so that's why I had the intense discomfort down there. The first time we had sex on 1/25 I didn't have any discomfort afterwards (maybe because the prostate inflammation was just starting to take root, or perhaps it was the anxiety). I do know I performed better on 1/25 vs 2/1 with her. I feel like I'm hunting for a needle in a haystack with this problem so that's why I'm curious if anyone else has had any kidney or prostate issues caused by Pentox. Who knows, maybe it was my prostate that was bothering me in 2013 and not my kidneys.

I think I'm also going to jerk off and see what happens (if I experience pain or discomfort) since I haven't touched myself since before all the inflammation started. The last time I masturbated was between the first and second time the new female and I had sex. I'm very, very frustrated to say the least.

So, anybody have any strange side effects from Pentox (along the lines of my issues) that they'd like to share?

Very interesting, thanks for the details!

Your abdomen was swelling? Do you think this may be related to the edema you have in your penis?

NeoV-

No, I don't think the abdominal swelling had anything to do with my penile edema (if I really ever had it to begin with). The doctor looked at my penis yesterday and told me it looked fine, and that he couldn't discern any swelling at all.

When you have problems down there (or with your body in general), it's way too easy for your mind to start playing tricks on you.

What I'm going to do, even though I probably outlined it below is:

1) Stop with the Pentox (was taking 600mg twice a day) immediately.
2) Fill the additional two week prescription for Bactrim and continue taking it.
3) Wait a few days and masturbate to see how my body reacts. Curious if I'll have discomfort afterwards.
4) Wait before I introduce any new supplements (was ready to order some Citrulline) into my regiment.
5) Get another opinion from a different URO (the one who I saw for a second opinion back in 2013). Think that one is better then the current URO I just saw. He's older and seemed more experienced. Only reason I went with the younger inexperienced doctor is because they were able to get me in quicker.

I'll update in due time (probably after the jerk off session) on whether I feel better or worse. My gut is telling me the Pentox is playing a major role in all of this.

ETA: I also forgot to mention that when Peyronies Disease hit in 2013, I was also having a pain/ache in certain parts of my body. Specifically I remember my hands feeling very achy, almost like there was pain in the bones. I can't remember if this coincided with the Pentox use or not. The pain ended up dying down and going away, can't remember when though (i.e.- if it stopped when I stopped taking Pentox).

Also, I hurt my knee several weeks ago (before starting Pentox again). I had fallen at a concert and my knee was pretty sore for the next couple of days. The pain and ache soon went away. What was strange though is that last week, maybe Wednesday or Thursday, the pain came back with a vengeance. The knee feels better now (not 100%), but I did nothing to re-injure it last week. It kind of sprouted up right around the time my abdominal swelling started (maybe 1-2 days later). Is my mind screwing with me, or is it all just a coincidence? Who knows? But definitely worth noting though I do believe.

Double ETA: Lower back pain was also an issue too back in 2013. Again, it eventually subsided.

Triple ETA: I'm also going to stop taking Vit E (was on 400mg twice per day) and Arginine (was taking 1000mg twice per day) because those are the other two supplements I started taking at the exact same time as Pentox. I was taking all 3 a few years back when I was having the kidney issues. If and when I feel better, I may reintroduce these supplements into my regiment once again, and one at a time of course. The only supplement I will stay on is Coq10 (because I started that late last week after the onset of the intitial symptoms) and the only prescribed medication I will be taking is Cialis 5mg because that's definitely not the culprit. I was taking that for awhile by itself with no noticeable side effects whatsoever except a cock that got harder and faster! Which was welcome of course:)
