A peyronie's specialist prescribed me twice a day 400mg pentox ER. Is this correct? I know it's supposed to be 3 times a day but he said mine is mild and i'm a small young adult not a grown man (grown man would get 3 times a day)

This is extended release by ER i mean btw.

Also, is coq10 safe to take with pentoxiflyine? Isn't pentox and coq10 both considered a blood thinner in some sort of the way meaning you should not combine them?

nemo

Yes, ER is correct.

I take CoQ10 and Pentox and I believe many others do as well.  If CoQ10 has some blood thinning properties, it's not causing any problems for me.

Nemo, what is coq10 supposed to be/do.? Specifically for this? Also, is 800mg pentox still enough to do something? That's what my doctor gave me. I am a smaller guy however, so that may be relevant. I'm young and i only weigh 150.

nemo

notscared, I'm not an expert on CoQ10, frankly I only take it because it's so popular here.  If you'll do a search and some reading, I'm sure you'll find all the info you care to know about it.

Pentox two-times a day is fine - in fact, I alternated between 2 and 3-times a day depending on how I'm doing.  It's a reasonable dosage.

Don't get offended but what is your weight and height nemo? I'm curious to see if this might be related to why my doctor gave me this dosage. Since those things can be affected to a degree by a persons stats.

nemo

No offense.  I'm 5'10", about 170 lbs.

Some docs just want to be very cautious in prescribing a new (to them) drug, especially one used off-label, the way Pentox is used for Peyronies Disease.

Nemo:

I just learned from a search time on the Mayo clinic about uses of Pentox (Trental). It was originally developed and prescribed to treat spider and other small surface veins in legs.

Also, it is prescribed for cramps in legs caused by sciatic nerve atrophy. So, it should be OK to use for better blood circulation at any portion of a person's blood system.

Thanks Old Man for the info.
Now I understand why all my small blue/red veins on my face an feet disappeared during and after using pentox.
Also much less cramps.

Back to the topic to your original question, you should take the ER. The fast release have much more side effects from my experience.
Also some people are taking 2*400 mg, most doctors prescribes 3*400 mg as daily dosage.
