I just read an interesting article here: http://www.life-enhancement.com/magazine/article/2408-double-your-pleasure about the effectiveness of Citrulline vs Arginine.

Since I just got my diagnose the day before yesterday I still haven't ordered any supplements to help with my ED. According to the article (and many similar articles based on the same studies) Citrulline is in itself more effective for the actual erection part. But for the long-term treatment of Peyronies I can not find an as good article.

Therefor I thought that we could have a poll here based on your experiences (mainly those of you having tried both - either together or separately). Which one is the best - Arginine, Citrulline or Both Combined - for Peyronies related ED and long-term treatment.

This question has been answered here before, and I think it's safest to assume that Citrulline is indeed the way to go. It's the best way to increase arginine and ornithine plasma levels. Arginine alone does not raise ornithine, so Citrulline is the best way to get all three of these animo acids cheaply and effectively without the side effect of diarrhea (it would seem). I just ordered mine, and I've enjoyed it in the past.

It seems that arginine supplementation with citrulline would simply further raise arginine plasma levels. I don't see the reason to take both.

Thanks for your good answer - sorry for asking an already answered question - I'm new as you know - but the link I posted might be interesting to add to that thread if it's not already there :)

Well, my citrulline arrived on the 16th, and I am very happy with the effect!

I regret not using this earlier. Night time erections are better and more frequent, but the biggest difference is that my penis is simply engorged on a regular basis. While walking around it just hangs full. What a nice feeling.

James you may want to consider taking Citrulline or Arginine even if it "did not work for you" : ( The reason is that NO increases are healing to endothelial cells and cause relaxation in the penile smooth muscle. It works like Cialis, but in a different way. Arginine and Citrulline prevent fibrosis. On rat studies Citrulline improved the smooth muscle to collagen ratio and penile "structure". If Cialis works, Citrulline works, even if you aren't noticing incredible erections.

L-Arginine 1000 mg and 1500 mg daily (I had 500 mg pills) didn't helped me, never tried L-Citrulline.
I will get my L-Citrulline Malate 750 mg capsules within two weeks.
I will be very happy to find a replacement for the daily Cialis (5 mg) or 25 mg Viagra if I run out of Cialis as both makes me headaches and very red face.
I still have some questions regarding L-Citrulline:
How much I suppose to take daily? in the study they wrote 1,500 mg.
How many times per day? Not written in the study.
What timing (morning noon, night)? Not written in the study.
Should I try it for intercourse? Right now just Viagra helps me for intercourse, 25 or 50 mg but with the headache and red face.
Also in the study they mentioned that the L-Citrulline is converted by our body to L-Arginine. So why not just taking L-Arginine.
Maybe some of my questions are from not understanding the text enough.

James, Citrulline is superior to Arginine supplementation for several reasons. Hope this helps.

1. It increases plasma levels of Citrulline, Arginine and Ornithine levels. Ornithine is also therapeutic to endothelial health.
2. It is more effective than Arginine at increasing Arginine levels for long periods of time, rather than a spike like Arginine supplementation does.
3. It bypasses the liver and is converted to Arginine in the kidneys, allowing it to escape enzymatic degradation. It is better used by the body and you do not need as much, whereas you have to take upward of 5 - 10 grams of Arginine to raise blood levels Cittruline only needs 1.5 grams or so.

Dosage and timing is up to you, there is a lot of room here for adjustment, since it's a simple amino acid with no ill effects. The study says 1,500mg once a day (split into two dosages). I use about two grams a day. Athletes use much much more. I would recommend you take it daily, but there is nothing wrong with taking it before sex.

PDE inhibitors (Viagra, Cialis) work by shutting off cyclic GMP (cGMP), keeping more nitric oxide in the penis. Elevating plasma Arginine levels through Citrulline is a safer way to get the exact same effect, relaxing smooth muscle cells, activating vascular endothelial growth factor, and warding off fibrosis. That being said, taking both a PDE inhibitor and Citrulline may be even better (purely on a penile health scale). I don't quite have time to open that study right now but there is a study on them used together.
