Soft glans

I was wondering if any other sufferers have soft glans (head of penis). No matter what I do the head of my penis cannot get hard. I can deal with the slight penile curvature but having soft glans makes sex much harder, less pleasurable for my partner (feels like I essentially have a 2-3 inch smaller penis) and for some reason makes me prematurely ejaculate all the time.

Does anyone else have soft glans? What is the best treatment for it and has anyone ever been able to reverse this? I have read a little of some people having soft glans on occasion (I.e nocturnal erections but can achieve hard head through manual stimulation). I cannot get hard glans no matter what I do. Is there a way to reverse this?

Thanks so much

Yes, that's what's known as "distal flaccidity" and I too have it ever since my first experience with Peyronie's back in 2001. I have found daily low-dose Cialis to help with this, or perhaps it is in combination with Pentox, which makes the blood cells more capable of getting in and around blockages and into the glans, I'm not sure. Regardless, that's about the only combination that I've found helps with the soft glans to any degree, and it's not a major improvement, but does help somewhat.

Afraid that about the best advice I can give on this - a soft glans is just something I've sort of learned to live with in connection to Peyronies Disease.

Nemo:

Have you tried using the VED on a very mild vacuum pump up? That helped me get over a soft glans bout when I got my second bout of Peyronies Disease in 1995.

If you decide to try it, just slowly pump up several strokes, let the blood flow stop. Then, pump a few more strokes and let the blood flow stop. Once you feel an erection starting, release the pressure. Repeat this procedure for about 10 or minutes on a daily basis for a while, that is if you can fit it into your daily schedule. If not, just do the exercises when you to have time.

I found it to be very effective. In addition, it enlarged the glans into a somewhat mushroom shape. The nerve sensation also returned. Send a PM if you have time and I can add some additional info about this that is of a personal nature.

The damn disease is such a mystery, that that ALONE drives a man into mental purgatory. Man...

I have a large glans, too large because of Peyronie's. It's larger and softer ever since starting VED and having a semi-priaprism in the glans. All I can say is I feel for you man, I just hope more than anything that you and everyone else find a way to get past their issues. I also hope that we can all come to terms with the ambiguity of our disease, it's truly ineffable.

Old Man, hi. Yes, I've worked with a VED off-and-on over the years, and never found it to help much with the head softness, but - and it's a big but - I did regain a little more than a half-inch in length I'd lost to Peyronies, and that length has stayed with me now for many years. Truthfully, I've just accepted the head softness as a fact of life I have to deal with - compared to some of the problems Peyronies Disease can cause, I consider this one of the lesser problems. Hopefully, the original poster will learn to work around this as well.

Zeckelbaum,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having this problem. I have the same problem for some reason. This might sound a bit strange, but in my case, I get decent firmness in my glans (although I wouldn't call it fully engorged) when I lie down on my right side or when I stand up while erect. If I sit down or lie on my left side, my glans is about as flaccid as can be.

Also I seem to lose the firmness in my glans from moving around too much while erect for some reason.

In my case I believe this is caused by injuries on the right side of my penis. I believe the injuries and scarring there are preventing the right corpus Cavernosum from extending all the way into the glans of my penis on the right side, and this is preventing my glans form fully engorging.

As for treatments or cures, I haven't found anything to help with this problem yet. Sorry.

One credible website suggests that panax ginseng could help. I took this for a while and did not find that it helped my glans become more engorged, but who's to say it won't help you? (It's worth a try.) You can read more about that here; Erectile Dysfunction Treatment - El Camino, Mountain View, San Jose, Palo Alto, Fremont - Erectile Dysfunction (ED) |.

Redbullmaster,

Thanks for sharing about sclerotherapy. It sounds interesting.

Seems consensus is that VED, Pentox and herbal supplements (ie ginseng ginko baloba ect) MAY help some but nothing can cure soft glans.

My penile curvature is minimal, slightly upward. My main problems are the soft glans and the weakened penis at the area of scar tissue. My scar tissue is an inch above the base on the left side. I can't grind against my partner or thrust stenuous because that part of my penis will literally bend and feels snapped inside. Even with light grinding. Do others get this?

That said, should I do VED even with only slight curvAture. I really want to heal the scar tissue and make the glans hard. I heard VED can lead to injury so was thinking of taking a high dose of testosterone because high androgens promote healing and growth in penile tissue. If I take testosterone as well as pentox VED and herbal treatments that should do something right? Good idea or not? Nobody has really tried taking testosterone at a superlogical dose on here have they? TRT would not give the same benefits

Great first post redbullmaster. I had not heard of that procedure, sounds like a real option and less invasive than embolisation.

Zeckelbaum,

I just thought of something that might help you with your premature ejaculation: sertraline.

I was taking it for a while for anxiety, and it became much harder for me to climax while I was on it. (This is one of its possible side effects). It might help you last a bit longer with your partner. Maybe your doctor can write you a script for it?

Thanks mate that sounds good. Does it have any other side effects? I don't suffer from anxiety much but usually with medications like that you begin to rely on them and when you come off them it can make you feel anxious? Do you have any experience with that? Don't want to end up anxious or anything. Guess I can research it online!

Yes, please do your research, and talk to a doctor. There may be something they can prescribe for you that works even better than sertraline in the area of premature ejaculation. I'm just sharing my personal experience.

The only other side effects I experienced were feeling really amped up a lot of days, and problems with sleep. (These are the reasons I went off of it.)

If you are not anxious before taking sertraline, I don't know if it could make you become anxious when you come off it. Best to ask a doctor about that.

With these kind of meds, there can be quite a bit of variation in how an individual patient reacts to the meds. So your experience on sertraline may not be the same as mine was, and vice versa.

Hope that helps.

I thought of posting this as its own thread, but since it's relevant here, I'll add it to this discussion.

As mentioned, I've dealt with a soft glans (or distal flaccidity) since my first bout with Peyronies Disease in 2001.  Recently (in the last year) while dealing with another flare up, I've been taking Pentox and daily low dose Cialis, and I've found my glans is firmer and visibly larger when erect.

I have a theory that this is an effect of the Pentox, which is enabling the blood cells to get around the scar tissue and make it to the glans more easily. It's the only thing I can think of that would do this, as I've used Levitra, Viagra, Cialis before, without Pentox, and while they definitely helped my erections, they didn't do much in the way of filling the glans up fully.

So, for you guys dealing with soft glans - this may be another good reason to get on Pentox. It just may help with that.

Nemo,

You mentioned that you've just sort of learned to live with a soft glans.

Has your soft glans caused you problems with premature ejaculation?

If so, have you found any tricks for getting around this problem?

Cal

nemo

No, Cal, I can't say that's been a problem for me.  In fact, I kind of came to the conclusion having a soft glans allowed me to go longer due to some degree of desensitization by not not having a fully engorged glans, but that's all just a theory on my part - could be complete fantasy.  Obviously, you're dealing with the opposite - so neither of our situations may be due to the fullness of our glans, but different factors altogether.

I have had this issue Cal, softer glans and a  loss of length and I seem to reach the point of no return much faster than I did pre injury.

I think it has something to do with more foreskin movement, but am not sure.

Nemo, Skunkworks is the one struggling with premature ejaculation. (I'm not sexually active so I don't know if this is an issue for me or not.)

The last time I tried to have sex was about 8 years ago and my soft glans prevented the whole thing from happening. It came a big surprise since it was the first time I'd seen my glans basically flaccid when my shaft was hard. I'd consumed a huge amount of alcohol that night and figured that was what caused the abnormality. - A week or so later I tried with the same girl again and couldn't get enough of an erection to penetrate. Again I noticed that my glans was really soft.

This is when I really freaked out and started to panic.

I haven't tried to have sex again since then. And this has been something I've been carrying around with me every day since then.

Are there some tricks you've found for making penetration with a soft glans easier, Nemo and Skunkworks?

Cal

skunkworks

I wouldn't call it premature yet, just it used to take me ages now it is much more difficult to hold off. I'm very interested in the procedure mentioned above, schlerotherapy, seems much less invasive than the other options involving an interventional radiologist. Will need to see a lot more data on results of course, but I'd even consider a trip to London (from Aus) if it all stacked up data wise.

Re penetration with softer glans, more lube.

Cal, to be honest, I've never found vaginal penetration to be an issue. If it's truly just the glans that's soft, but the shaft is firm, I can't imagine not being able to enter a well lubricated vagina. In fact, even for men with penile implants, a soft glans is sometimes still present, as the device only inflated the corpora - the glans just sort of rides on top (assuming there's no strong flow of blood into it.)

Now, what I have had trouble with (to be quite graphic and honest) is anal penetration. A soft glans makes that very difficult and I pretty much gave up on that because of it - it just wasn't worth the effort (and frankly, the embarrassment).

I hate that you're carrying memories of a couple failed attempts around, especially when I know penetration with a soft glans is possible. This is perhaps a bit unorthodox, but I would strongly suggest purchasing one of those latex vaginas from an online porn store - the kind supposedly molded from a real porn star's vagina (like Jenna Jameson, etc.).  Either that, or one of those "flesh light" artificial vaginas.

Practice on that in the privacy of your own bedroom and get comfortable with the fact that with the proper lubrication and a willing partner you CAN have pleasurable sex.  I think you'll build your confidence up with such a device - with absolutely no risk of embarrassment.

I had never problem to penetrate in certain positions with "well lubricated vagina" as Nemo stated, also need some trials and errors to see what and how to do that.
My glans are not hard, my shaft is just 70 - 80 % hard.
I have not tried and will not try anal penetration after having Peyronies. Nemo is right on this one also.
Nemo advise regarding exercises sound a good idea.

Nemo:

There has been a post in the VED board by JackP where he indicates that his glans now inflates/enlarges using his implant. He has the AMS700LX model (as far as I know) and he states that after using the implant for a while, the rods do penetrate into the glans causing it to become more firm.

Anyone interested in finding out the whole facts about this should send JackP a PM for the entire details. Also, he has his history posted in the bottom of his post that can be viewed, etc.

Nemo, Skunkworks, James, Old Man,

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and posting! Thanks in particular to skunkworks for having the courage to start this thread up.

I've been afraid to even check this post for the last four days, but now I'm glad that I did!

I'm glad that there is a place for us to all connect and go into the nitty gritty with each other while remaining anonymous. This is forum a fantastic application of technology.

Nemo, thanks for being "graphic" and sharing the nitty gritty with everyone. Your comments and encouragement have the power to help many men who are living in fear with a similar condition.

Thanks to you all and God bless you all!

James, you mentioned that certain positions are easier for you to penetrate in than others. Why is that? And if you don't mind sharing, which are the positions that make penetration easier for you?

No I don't mind to share. :)
I will write you a PM with details.

My glans got soft after my VED injury. It is now much larger than it was before, too large, but not as hard.

This is not exactly the same as "soft glans", which I would take to mean that the glans simply does not inflate. I have heard of this problem before. My issue is different, it inflates but it's a bit soft due to overall enema of the entire penis skin. If only I know who I could see to help me with this. I keep telling myself Tom Lue when I visit San Fran, but who knows. I seem to have injured or created a hernia (or two) from the VED.
