Hi all

After my recent diagnosis for Peyronies, blood tests which showed a compromised Vit D level (26) and after reading the excellent library of information on here I've been on the following supps cocktail for about a week:

Acetyl L Carnitine (2000Mg's)
Coq-10 (300 Mg's)
L Arginine (2000 Mg's)
Alpha Lipoic Acid (150 Mg's)

Then, on the advice of a lad at work studying this sort of thing I"ve added the following supps:

Vit D3 5000 IU
Vit C (1000gms)
Fish Oil 1 tablet
K2 1 Tablet
And before bed 2 tablets of magnesium citrate (recommended dose is 3 capsules)

As of today, I commenced Pentox...starting on 1 tablet and building up slowly should I have no adverse reactions.

As a result my wallet has taken more of a beating than my penis. More importantly, I feel deadset ordinary.

Question is, is this overkill? Can i afford to drop some of the above supps, or does anyone know of potential conflicts between the above supps? Ive also attempted to introduce a more anti inflammatory diet over the past week, and this could contribute to my feeling of lethargy, weakness, etc along with the very real stress and anxiety I'm dealing with re the diagnosis.

I would love to add a painkiller for the flaccid pain which is a new symptom and very disturbing, as well ad something for my nerves which feel shot.

Any suggestions welcomed. Im 36 and feel like I'm at least twice that old today.

The best results for most illnesses tend to come from multiple oral treatments if you ask me, but I also recommend you stick to the essentials. Use what has been studied specifically for Peyronie's. In my case the acetyl L Carnitine dosage is too expensive to maintain, while CoQ10 isn't too bad to pick up every few months.

I think that vitamin D dosage is too high personally, as is the Arginine dosage. Just my thoughts though.

The Vit D was on top of a monthly 100,000IU syringe of Vit D prescribed by my GP to boost my levels. (Reading was 26, test said normal readings were 70-300.

Appreciate the info on the L-Arginine, its certainly increased nighttime erections substantially. Perhaps the level is too high.

Interested in all opinions, particularly what supps are surplus to requirements. This forum is a godsend for newbies such as myself.

The pain's a killer mate but it will pass eventually, took me a coup!e of years on and off. Was easily the worst part. Still get the odd twinge but nothing like before.

The pain is the thing that's worrying me the most.

I've read Advil/Celebrex are ok in short term doses. wondering if thats ok to add to the long list of supps below or if some of those supps can go...

Pain I'm guessing means inflammation. And I've got a VED unit ready to try but I'm thinking I should get the pain under control first before comnencing..even though the pain is only when flaccid.

So confused...

Starting Ibuprofen today to deal with the pain.

If any of the experienced forum members can see anything that can be dropped from the below regimen to deal solely with inflammation/peyronies that would be appreciated. Wondering if the 'less is more' rule applies to these things.

As far as the pain goes, have you tried VHB? That's Very Hot Baths. Hot baths in Epsom Salts seemed to give me more physical comfort than any of the supplements.

The >>careful<< use of a VED also helped me with flaccid pain. My worst flaccid pain was when I was in something akin to hard flaccid, and getting a better flaccid hang seemed to help.

So did mild manual stretching, ala what NeoV practices, but you should be aware that this practice is not widely approved of. I have no doubt you can hurt yourself stretching if you aren't very gentle and very careful. (That's true of a VED, too.)

You were asking for supplements you could drop from your list, not add, but I have to say that 2.5 mg Cialis daily also did wonders for me.

My experience was that anything that could get my penis less contracted and more blood-filled when flaccid seemed to help with the pain. Hot baths, Cialis, and VED all address that directly.

I think things like K2, CoQ10, and Acetyl L-Carnitine may slow or reverse the progression of plaque (and in the case of K2, may keep plaque from calcifying). But I don't find that they make much difference to my levels of pain.

ALC is very cheap if you pick it up in powder form rather than capsules, the taste is quite sour in water but bearable. You're a fellow aussie, i get mine from mrsupps or bulknutrients.

Your best bet for coq10 and vit d is from iherb, way way way cheaper than Aus pharmacy prices and shipping is like $8. Buy 3-6 months worth. I'd drop the arginine as it made things worse for me, but that is just one experience.

Pentox though, very much a good idea. These people are meant to be pretty up to date Sydney Men's Health but I have never been there so that is just a piece of information not a recommendation. If you do go there, please let us know how it goes.

What is the reasoning behind ala? Not seen much connecting that with peyronie's myself.

I take ALA with my ALCar as well--not because ALA would do much for Peyronie's, but because ALA helps quench all the free radicals the ALCar generates. This relates back to Ames' anti-aging research in the early 2000s: ALCar was beneficial to mitochondrial function, but didn't reach its full potential in terms of overall health unless ALA was added. Since then, the ALCar/ALA combo has been endlessly repeated all over the web, but AFAIK it all traces back to this particular study. If you Google the two supplements and also include "macarena," you'll see what I mean. (The researcher said "With the two supplements together, these old rats got up and did the Macarena," and it has been endlessly repeated ever since, as if it is new!)

Yep iherb works a treat for the supps.

I didn't have a good experience with Dr Mcmahon at the Centre in Sydney, but others may differ.Dismissed my case now a couple of months later it has progressed quickly in terms of pain/curvature and I was diagnosed immediately by a urologist here in Adelaide recently.

The ALA I was thinking of dropping but after reading Ursus' post I may have to reconsider that! I really just want to simplify my melds intake and get the pain under control at this stage.

Keen to start VED/traction as they work best in the acute phase I believe but I'm too inflamed at the moment...in particular angry dark looking spider veins on the side where the plaque was found. Flaccid pain mainly..disturbing and worrying.

Buy both the ALC and the Arginine or Citrulline Malate ( better, IMO )  in powder form - it's far cheaper. Both are easily dissolvable in water. I buy in the UK - pharma grade, cost around £30-35 for 1kg. I think you'll find that's far cheaper per gram than any pills.  Also, use R Alpha Lipoic acid. It's more expensive, but far more bio available.

Personally, I am trying to hit this damnable disease with anything and everything I can. As most of us have found out, it's whatever works for you. There seems to be no "one size fits all" treatment.

Sadly, this is the naked truth.
So many times a success story of a treatment make us to try it out and we get nothing or little bit from what we are expecting.
Sorry for the pessimistic sentence, sometimes I am getting in this mood.

Ditto everything Jonbinspain said, especially the citrulline malate in powder. The easiest way to take it is by mixing it up into a tasty (though sour) drink with a little stevia (or sweetner of your choice).

Arginine, on the other hand, tastes like crap.
