Hi all. My wife has been lurking around here the past few weeks asking questions on my behalf and getting great advice and information. Here's what's been going on:

First noticed the curve the third week of August. It was about 30 degrees.

My wife immediately started researching, figured out what it was and started me on an anti-inflammatory diet. I'm eating mostly vegetables, fruit, egg whites, fish, grass fed chicken, nuts, seeds and beans. Have cut out out ALL white foods: pasta, bread and sugar.

First urologist a week later: told me to just start taking vitamin E. My wife insisted on Pentox which we got.

Yesterday we went to another doctor. Much more knowledgable. Getting an ultrasound in a month. He felt the plaque on the underside and told us because of the location, I am not a candidate for Xiaflex as this area is too near the urethra. He recommended the plication ONLY if there was pain for either of us. He was not a fan of the excision because of the risks.

At this point, less than a month later these are the supplements I'm on:

PENTOX 400mg- 2 times a day
ACETYL L-CARNITINE 500 mg- 2 times a day
UBIQUINOL Q-H 200 mg- 2 times a day
L-ARGININE 1000mg- 2 times a day
VITAMIN E 400 IU- 3 times a day
COQ10 100 mg- 2 times a day
FISH OIL OMEGA 3 with Vitamin D 1000 IU- once daily
VITAMIN D3 2000 IU- once daily
and as of yesterday
CIALIS 5mg- once daily

ALSO:
Taking a tablespoon of Natto everyday
Having ground ginger in green tea everyday

I am a runner and have great blood pressure and heart rate, but over the last month I have finally lost 15 pounds I needed to. The amount of bread I ate apparently was insane. I have stopped taking my statin because of the diet change, so hopefully when I get that rechecked, I will not have to go back on.

I would appreciate any feedback you all can give me.

-The doctor said I could try traction and recommended "FASTSIZE"? I can't find this online.
It seems a lot of you recommend the VED. He shook this suggestion off, but so much going on, I can't remember why. Further damage at this stage maybe?

-A little bit worried about doing either right now because...aren't I still in an "active" phase? Or am I misunderstanding, and this thing my body is doing that it thinks is "healing" the injury is over?

-How's my dosage on everything?

-We asked for Pentox 3 times a day, but they only gave enough for twice. Is that okay?

Thanks in advance for any insight and help. I'm grateful we found this board which allowed us to be proactive immediately.

The doctor didn't mention verapamil at all. I've been reading about that online.

Urologists knowledge vary as you have seen, so keep your options open at this point and do not rush into surgery. Both VED therapy and traction are effective and I couldn't recommend them more. Particularly in the case of traction, based on the studies and my experiences as well as others, I can't see how it possible could not straighten the penis.

I think both are good to use during the active phase. You want the penis to heal straight after all.

Verapamil does not have the best track record, most of us here avoid it, though Dr. Levine has a history of using them, seemingly with success. Along with vitamin e, it seems to be a practice in the way out.

You do not need CoQ10 and ubiquinol, use ubiquinol of you're over 40 and stick to CoQ10 if not, no harm done though. You may want to print out pentox studies by Tom Lue found here on these boards in order to get the 3x per day prescription. Your Arginine dosage looks a little high to me. Keep in mind that the body down regulates the extra nitric oxide almost immediately, you may want a lower dosage and the experiment with timing on higher ones, such as before sex.

Honestly it looks like your doing everything well. Improvement can take years, I've been improving over the course of two years now.

It's good you're getting an ultrasound, sorry you're battling this but I'm betting you'll see improvement in time.

runner70,

That looks like a great plan. Pentox+overall good diet and health put you in a great position to let your body heal. I took pentox for 8 months, as well as exercised and ate relatively healthily. I saw improvement during that time, and have since had continuous improvement since stopping pentox (which was 5 years ago). I'm not cured, but I'm pain free, have minimal curvature and size loss and cannot feel the plaque anymore. I am 35 years of age.

One thing that I feel is important is to "use" your penis everyday, either through VED, gentle masturbation or sexual activity with your spouse. Blood flow and gentle stretching of the penile tissues helps keep things healthy down there. Good luck!

Mending the Bend

Runner70 -

Ditto everything NeoV said, with the addition that it looks like your ALC dosage might actually be a little low. I've been taking 3 x 1000 mg. Make sure you take these with or immediately after a meal (especially a fatty one since ALC is fat soluble). The only times I've had any GI trouble at all with any of the supplements was when I tried to take them on an empty stomach.

It sounds like you're on the right track. Good luck.

Thanks everyone responding here and privately. It's nice to hear you're all doing well. I'm glad for you and it's also encouraging.

Mending- I will up the ALC dosage. Have been taking everything with meals except the Arginine which has you wait an hour. Handling all of it well so far.

Neo- I am over 40 so I guess I'll drop the COQ? What dosage should the Arginine be? 1000mg once a day? Good point about healing straight. I'll get on upping the Pentox too.

Skj- Am getting a lot of positive feedback on the VED use, did you use it right away after you saw symptoms?

Can anyone recommend a traction?

I will not advice you to drop the CoQ10. You can finish the quantity you have and switch to Ubiquinol.

I never used VED myself, but many here have with good results. VED is a slow and deliberate process. Our forum has extensive info on the devices and proper use.

Good luck,
