Should I tell my parents?

How can I find a urologist who will take me seriously?

Is here any thing I can do now to revert this?

Am I young enough to have this heal on its own?

I'm a virgin and I feel my sex life is already over...

largemist

I am 17. I am ridiculously nervous and scared about this as I haven't even begun my life and appear to already have contracted this disease.
How can I go about a visit to the urologist at this age?
My penis has been slightly smaller on the left side for a log time, but in the past 6 months the shrinkage has took off and it is starting to curve.
To reiterate, I am worried beyond words. It is all I have thought about for the past week. What can I do? Me being young and all, will it be more likely to resolve itself on its own? Will early intervention help me?
I feel like the compressed side doesn't fill in with much blood at all, and I have little control over that side. The opposite side just recently (past 2 weeks) have developed several noticeable indents.
Oh my god... I want to cry, scream, and throw up all at the same time.
I pray that I'm young enough to have this heal on its own...

By the way, I have a similar indent on my arm from back when I played football. Could there be a correlation that I develop scar tissue easily?

Definitely tell your parents, as you are going to need their help!

And get up to speed on this by reading the posts in this forum, not only to help yourself, but to help explain it to them. Going to a urologist who doesn't specialize in this condition might be worse than not seeing a urologist at all. Some urologists make stupid or outdated recommendations, or tell you to do nothing when you should be acting.

Some things you need to know (and tell your parents):

--Most doctors will tell you this is a rare condition, and it is almost exclusively a disease of elderly males of Northern European descent. The only part of that which is correct is "males." It is far more common than has generally been reported; although there are genetic predispositions, there is a lot of underreporting from non-white ethnic groups; and you'd be surprised how many young people there are on this forum.

--Most doctors say the condition is almost always caused by physical trauma. Oh, really? Less than half of the people who develop it can point to an event that caused it, and some of those are just taking a wild guess. I did everything with my penis except try to hammer nails, and it was fine for decades. Then suddenly I woke up one day, after nothing in particular, extremely bent and extremely uncomfortable. It happens, and there are all kinds of theories about why it happens, but it could just as easily be caused by a nutritional issue as by acute trauma. So don't blame yourself and don't let anybody else blame you.

--A lot of urologists say that the only thing to do is take Vitamin E, wait for for the disease to 'stabilize,' and then see if an operation is required. That's terrible advice. Real Peyronie's disease experts may differ on what they tell you to do, but they won't advise you to sit and wait until it stabilizes.

--Most people figure that a urologist will be familiar with this disease and the treatment options. Urologists all know the disease, and most of them can diagnose it, but most of them don't have a clue about how to treat it, and the last time most of them read anything new about Peyronie's treatment was when they were in Med School cramming for a final.

Being young is on your side, but I wouldn't sit and hope it resolves itself on its own. And I think most people here believe that the earlier treatment starts, the better. So you need to get your parents involved and let them help you get help--and not settle for the first local urologist your GP happens to refer you to!

Remember, this isn't your fault, and there's nothing shameful about it. It's like developing multiple sclerosis. You'd tell your parents about that, wouldn't you?

Hang in there. The number of possible treatments for this condition is expanding rapidly. Even five years ago, there were far less options on the table.

Thank you so much for the reply, it really makes me feel a not better. I'm just going through phases of acceptance and then absolute terror and hopelessness. I truly am believing that I can improve on this thanks to my young age, early intervention, and prayer. I think I've come to terms that's it will never be the same, and I have told my parents and we've set up an appointment tomorrow with the family physician.
Do you have any advice on how to find a compebtrnt doctor? Also, I just bought some coq10, hopefully that may help me improve.

Does going to gym every day aggravate the condition?

I also noticed that it got much worse the vert y day I noticed that I had the disease... Possibly psychological?

One last thing - to my understanding, there's a scar under there. And with contrast massage, scars break up significant amount. Is this a type of treatment for this disease?

Sorry for the wall of text but I've also never had significant pain - just aching the past 3 days. Also, no erection since I discovered it.

Like Ursus said,

See a Peyronie's expert, not just a family doctor and not just a regular urologist. They will do nothing but waste your time and money :(

Working out shouldn't aggravate it, unless you're trying to lift dumbbells with your penis.  ;)

The onset of curvature seems to happen very suddenly. One day I was fine, the next day 30 degrees to the left.

I wouldn't try to do any serious massaging of your plaque right now, because it could cause additional trauma and inflammation - which isn't what you need.

UrsusMinor

largemist--

Ditto what Mending-the-Bend says on everything! I wouldn't do any massaging, etc., right away. Getting aggressive with the mechanical aspects of this problem before you understand your limits is risky. Treat yourself very delicately. I was severely bent for almost 2 months before I could even find my plaque accurately.

Working out and exercise in general is a good thing. And, the day after I first wondered what the heck was going on, I was completely bent. Psychology is a large part of ED and other things here, but the disease is just that--a disease. Don't start telling yourself that it's all because you have a bad mental attitude. It isn't the fault of your mindset and it isn't because you are being punished. It's a F^@$!ng disease.

It would help everybody a lot if you told us what part of the country you live in. People on this forum have a lot of well-earned opinions on various specialists. There is a partial list of specialists here: https://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3053.msg42486.html#msg42486, but telling everyone your general location might help people telling you who to see--or even who to avoid!

Keep your spirits up and don't flip out. You're young and the state of the art here advances constantly. You can beat this.

largemist

Thanks for the kind words. I live close to Dr zeitlin, hopefully I can get an appointment there.

However, I fear that because I am still a kid, they won't take me seriously and will take me as just another kid who is worried about their penis.

I did some research on stem cells - all the information was outdated by a year though. Has anyone heard anything new about that?

Also, I have started to feel an aching in my flaccid penis. No erection for 4 days now.

Update:
Visited the family doctor, who after physical examination, said that I had no scars or peyronies that he could feel!
For peace of mind, I'm going to a urologist to make sure.

Like James says, you need an ultrasound. A family doctor cannot tell you anything,
Neither can your urologist. I was told I didn't have peyronies over and over until my penis finally was permanently bent.

Doctors and regular urologists think peyronies is simply a singular hard "lump" causing bending and will search for it. They really have no idea.

See a specialist. I was 18 when I first had signs of the disease, they told me I didn't have it and at 24 my life was turned upside down. Many of us have had the same experience. Don't wait、only an ultrasound and a peyronies specialist can tell you what's going on.

largemist

I am definitely insisting on an ultrasound. I'm already quite positive I have it, only awaiting confirmation.

Is there a particular benefit in early diagnosis?

largemist

I feel like I was never bothered by peyronies symptoms until I learned about peyronies... Agggh!! Tearing me apart!
Still waiting on the urolgist...

largemist, I wouldn't worry about your age being a factor where people aren't taking you seriously. Seeing is believing and unless you are over-emphasizing the shortness on the left side with the shrinking worsening over the past 6 months, any one should be able to see what you're describing as a possible issue. It's been recommended in numerous places on this site that you take pictures of your penis with a ruler to it to show measurements to show doctors and track your progress. This would at least calm your fears that it is worsening, if in fact it really isn't. Like you said, now that you've heard/learned of Peyronies you seem to be getting all the symptoms. Take a breath, snap a picture with a ruler to measure and see if it is worsening over time. At least when you get your appointment with the urologist, you'll have something to substantiate your claim. That will help them not look at you as another insecure about your penis young person. I'm glad you're doing something because that at least puts you in control mentally of getting your situation resolved. Keep us posted on your status.
