How did you cope in your wait for surgery, how did you save?

This could be interpreted as a vague, off topic question. If so I apologise.

For those of you who either booked surgery (peyronies or congenital), or decided on it for sure, how did you cope with the waiting period until you were ready?
For me, it won't be until mid 2015 that I'll have the opportunity to go for it. It's an issue of finances.

Especially for the younger members (students etc.) living more frugally, did you find the saving tough? Was finally being able to go for your surgery a massive weight off your shoulders?

Would be nice to hear some stories, experiences!

Thanks guys

I am not student and I am 66+, but the point of saving for surgery is also my problem because I have no insurance.
Three times already I had the amount for the surgery, but each time I had to spend the money on something I found to be of higher priority, connected to my almost 5 year old daughter.
Very frustrated, but I had no choice.

Age 71, Peyronies from Jan 2009 following penis fracture during sex. Severe ED.
Lost 2" length and a lot of girth. Late start, still VED, Cialis & Pentox helped. Prostate surgery 2014.
Got amazing support on the forum

John,

I didn't have to wait so long as you may because of financial reasons, but once I made the decision quite honestly I couldn't wait to get it over with. I was pretty anxious. I personally coped with feeling that soon part of this problem will be behind me and I can get on with normal life. And yes once that decision for surgery was made and that day came I felt a great sense of relief and less anxiety. But for me a new one took hold. Once surgery was over I was anxious to find out if everything would work as normal. It was 6 weeks of waiting but all is good.

Thanks for the replies guys.

James,

For me it's not great. I could save the sum over a 3-4 months of busting my rear off, which I will be doing. But I doubt insurance will be provided for me either, in my case because it's an international thing. Does anyone know of any cases where their provider agreed to covering a penile operation that was overseas?

Nordicz,

Congratulations on the (successful I presume?) surgery. How are ya feeling now? I can see post surgery presenting a host of new problems but as long as you have a good doctor, you just have to trust their work and let the natural healing process do it's thing. What's half a year of full healing in the grand spectrum of things?

John,

I am about 2 months post surgery and feel good. I feel different when having sex. My wife doesn't notice but I do. Not bad different not good different just different. I can say that getting back to being functional and somewhat normal is great. I could not have sex any longer because of the progression of the disease. That in itself was very demoralizing and took it's toll. I was willing to accept some risk and get back into the saddle. My penis is not perfect after surgery but it works as it is supposed to and I can satisfy my wife. With that being said anything after that is icing on the cake.
