Anyone experience lower back pain from cialis/supplements?

I haven't had my back checked out by a doc yet. But it seems since I've been on the 5mg daily along with the 750mg L-Citrulline 2x/day, L-Arginine 1000mg 2x/day, Ubiquinol 100mg 2x/day, Acetyl L-Carnitine 2x/day I've been having LB pain. I read a common side effect of cialis is back pain for some users. I'm wondering if the cialis or other OTC supplements which essentially do the same thing are irritating my back. I've had lower back pain in the past but it usually passes within a few months but I've had almost chronic LB pain since taking the cialis/supplements. I was wondering if others noticed the same thing?

-Thanks

Backpain from Cialis is guessed to be caused by it being a pde11 inhibitor:

QuoteThe physiological relevance of PDE11 is yet unknown, but PDE11 is found, among other places, in skeletal muscle tissue. Tadalafil is the PDE5 inhibitor with the lowest selectivity ratio with regard to PDE11. Back pain and myalgia are more common with tadalafil than with other PDE5 inhibitors, possibly owing to its effects on PDE11. Myalgia and back pain, however, have also been reported during treatment with sildenafil and vardenafil, although the effects occurred less frequently.[38,41]

Cialis is known to cause back pain. In my case, the 20 mg causes very bad lower back pain, the low dose Cialis also, but very little bit.
Maybe the supplements you are taking are also a factor.
The only way to know if to stop one by one and see the effect.
I don't think Ubiquinol can make back pain.

Most people don't even notice that they are taking Ubiquinol. And I've never heard of back pain with the other supplements you list.

The only thing I would wonder about is if you are sure it is lower back pain rather than kidney pain? The reason I ask is the citrulline, arginine, and Acetyl L Carnitine are all all protein, and sometimes protein overloading can cause kidney pain. (The usual bodybuilder remedy is to drink a lot more water.)

But what you're talking about is only about 5 additional grams of protein a day, which isn't much! The Cialis is a much more likely culprit.

Thanks for the replies. It's definitely central, lower back pain. Nothing spreading down my thighs, just LB. I've wondered about the combination of all these supplements and cialis and their effects on the kidney & liver etc. Before my penile fracture I was only taking a couple supplements a day like Saw Palmetto, vitamin D & C. I'm no longer taking pentox. I stopped all the supplements & cialis for a few days and my back does feel much better. I read that cialis can be related to back pain for some men especially in morning after lying in bed all night (I take 5mg right before bed)

I'll start reintroducing the supplements first & see what happens....

Correct approach MtnSurf.
This is the only way to learn from where the back pain is coming.

I was using cialis a long time ago for my ED. It caused me some major back pain. As soon as I quit taking cialis, the pain stopped.
I talked to the people who made cialis and they said it was a problem across the country and at the time (about 10 yrs ago) they had nothing in the works to fix it.

And they never will. Inhibition of pde11 is just what that compound does, you can't change that without creating a new compound and then it woudl have to go through all the FDA stuff again.

If tadalafil causes you issues try more selective inhibitors like vardenafil or avanafil.

When do you take the Cialis? I've noticed and read that if I take it in the morning or during the day I notice some transient side effects but if i take before bed, I do not notice anything other than killer morning wood, that is healthy for the penis per the research :)

I stopped cialis due to extreme heartburn. By the 3rd day food would not go down my throat. It was horrible. (I realize this thread is about back pain)

For me Cialis is a no/no
With 20 mg, back pain and other body parts pain, excessive sweating, head each, blur vision, heat flushings, no help with erection.
Low dose daily Cialis is fine
50 mg Viagra works fine for intercourse

I know this is an old thread, but it's relevant to what I'm experiencing right now, so instead of making a new one I will reply to this one.  I've been taking 20 mg tadalafil daily for a few days and recently started splitting them into 10 mg two days ago. I woke up last night with horrible pain in my glutes and lower back.  Took two Advils and it seemed to help but my sleep was already disturbed. Does the body eventually get "used" to the daily tadalafil, and does the pain eventually subside if I deal with it over the coming weeks?  I have no problem taking Advil to deal with the pain for the short term ( maybe 4-6 weeks), but having to take ibuprofen to deal with it in the long term doesn't seem like the optimal solution in regards to having a healthy stomach.  I don't want to stop taking tadalafil everyday mostly because I want to see if it will reduce/remodel my scarring and plaque size in the longterm.  Anyone have any input on this besides lowering the dose? Does the pain eventually subside and does the body adapt? When I was younger and took tadalafil I never had this issue; but I don't remember if I ever tried to take it everyday back then, mostly because I couldn't afford it and never had enough so I had to spread it out for the times I would anticipate getting lucky.

@stopthismadness

What did you end up doing with Cialis? Are you still on it?  Did the pain go away eventually?

I think I'm experiencing the soreness in the lower back and in my quads right now from Cialis. I take low dose 5 mg every night before bed.  The last 2 nights were almost unbareable to sleep.  I just could not get comfortable and the pain/aches were awful.  Last night I finally took Ibuprofen and that helped with the pain.

I think Cialis is the problem right now.  I also take Pentox and Vitaflux.  Tonight I split my dose to 2.5 mg Cialis, I'm going to see how I feel the next few days with that.  If the pain persists I will ask my doctor if nightly Viagra might be a better fit for me and see if I don't have the same lower back/quads muscle soreness/aches.

Like you I want to take the Cialis or Viagra to hopefully encourage positive remodeling and scar softening.

Hope you are well.

I know this is an old thread but yes when I did take Cialis I had very bad back pain.  This lasted for about 1 month into using it. After the 1 month time my back pain was slowly going down. It did not go away completely but was always present but not as bad.

Personally, I've taken cialis for over six years and I've never experienced any type of back pain. I'm also in my early 30s, for what it's worth.
