Xiaflex versus PRP

I'm not sure where to post this...(!)

Okay. I live in California. I have access to Dr Lue, Dr Gelbard.

I also have access to the Priapus shot from two doctors with experience in using it for Peyronie's (in one case, with a member of our forum.)

I had onset of symptoms in February. They are not mild--although depending on your protractor, it's anywhere from 30 to 50 degrees. It's painful. Penetration is still possible, but not guaranteed, and I'm on an EV (Ejaculation Vacation) since about a month ago. But I get serious, hard erections frequently. So, only limited ED, but a major dorsal bend.

Here's two lines of reasoning:

1) I can get to two top Xiaflex guys, and am probably somewhat covered by insurance, and they'd do all the background workups etc etc.---BUT, some of the side-effect pictures make my stomach churn, and the overall improvement results from the trials aren't that great, and they deliberately selected patients who would have the greatest results....

OR

2) I can go to either of a couple of Priapus shots guys, drop the co-pay out of pocket (probably about what the co-pay would be for Xiaflex), and hope for the best...but PRP seems to have no downside.

My Better Half observes:

Xiaflex seems to have serious risks, and only offer benefits to a certain percentage of people. PRP seems to have only minor risks, but, according to the forum, seems to benefit at least an equal percentage of people.

So, she seems to think that the obvious option is PRP...followed by Xiaflex only if needed.

Me, I'm baffled. From everything I've heard here, sooner is better. But how do you prioritize something like this?

As You have said, Xiaflex has his risks, traumatic and the trials didn't show big difference between the Xiaflex group and the control group.
From the other side, it seems that almost all the forum members got very big improvements, when treated by leading doctors.
I wrote also during the trial that in my opinion, people that got big improvements were the people treated by competent doctors.
Regarding PRP, some members got very big improvements, some less remarkable improvements, some not. I don't know if it is 50/50, as I know I am the only one that didn't benefit from it until now.
PRP is definitely much less traumatic than Xiaflex, but have also risks. Any injection into the penis may start a scar if we are in the risk group, and we all are.
Personally, I was giving a try to the PRP, especially if one can afford it financially.

Having just had a my xiaflex injections about 30 days ago, I can say that i had very little bruising or any side effects really.  Day 1 sucked with all the needles prior to the actual xiaflex injections.  But it absolutely worked in terms of staightening.  Now denting is another story, working on that.

Mending the Bend

I have no experience with Priapus shots, but I've had two Xiaflex injections so far, and I've experienced negligible swelling, very mild pain at the site of injection, and only a small area of faint bruising after one of the two shots. I haven't assessed the effectiveness of the second shot yet (only a few days ago), but I experienced significant improvement from the first shot (~12 degree or 30% improvement in curvature).

Since you have access to top doctors and insurance coverage, I'd say absolutely go for the Xiaflex shots.

Good luck!
