I'm 22 years old. I have pretty significant right congenital curvature. I've already been diagnosed and approved for plication surgery along with adult circumcision by Dr. Tom Lou in San Francisco.   I've been waiting for this appointment for months and I'm flying to CA next week. Pretty excited to finally get this corrected..but getting nervous

I'm starting to get nervous about surgery. I've also never been to a urologist. I feel like its going to be an embarrassing/humiliating experience show my penis to medical assistants and the Dr.

Apparently they induce an artificial erection...awkward??? Also is there anyone one on here who's had a successful plication surgery performed? How bad did it hurt? Were u under general anesthesia? How long was your recovery?

Hi Curved,

I saw Dr. Lue for a non-surgical Peyronie's appointment (basically just an ultrasound and renewed pentox script). He and his assistants have a great bedside manner and the office waiting room has a beautiful view of Goldengate park. Also, being in SF there are awesome restaurants and other fun things to see. Planning something fun after that appt might put your mind at ease.

I did not have surgery so I do not know exactly what that your appointment will entail. However, if you do have an induced erection, note that the Dr. Lue does this all the time and is there to help, not judge you in any way. I believe there are some members here who have had induced erections for a special type of ultrasound they do for venous leakage ED, which you might want to look up. You can get a better picture of the procedure from their descriptions in that forum. Good luck!

Curved,

I can understand that you're nervous since this is a new experience for you. Like someone else mentioned, Dr. Lue and his team see people all the time and are very professional about it. I myself underwent surgery with him. I remember only positive things from my appointments. This is your chance to make things better, so my advise is to voice all the concerns you have to the doctor and his staff. They are there to help. Good luck!

So are you flying in for the actual surgery next week, or just a prelim visit first?

For the surgery you will just be prepped with an IV and gown like a typical surgery. They will induce an erection during the surgery but you will be under anesthesia.

If you have already been approved, then I'm not sure what Dr. Lue will do during the first visit other than doing an initial exam.

Thanks for the replys. It made me feel better about going. And yes I'll be getting examined with ultrasound on the 17th then surgery is scheduled for the 19th and a post op the 20th.

Do you think its possible for me to go under general anesthesia? Idk if its usually local or general

General, you won't be awake for it.
