That lube smell...

Might seem an odd thing to ask, but has anyone managed to find a lubricant that doesn't leave a nasty smell behind?

I don't know whether I'm being paranoid, but I bathe immediately after my pumping sessions & even after washing thoroughly I am still able to smell traces of the lube.

It's not hugely apparent, & my girlfriend says she hasn't noticed it, but - to my nose at least - it's just always there? I've even observed that it seems to be more noticeable when sweating a lot (if I'm at the gym for example) - as if I'm shedding an excess of it through my skin.

Am I going mad? Is there a lube which will leave a pleasant smell behind? I'm quite partial to lavender.  :D

Man! That is a new on me! I have never encountered a ''smell' with any of the lubes that I have come into contact with or heard from anyone before about this problem. BTW, glad that you now know that you must lube up the sizing insert(s) before placing them into the mouth of the cylinders. This is a must to get a good seal to pump up without leaking the vacuum out.

The lube that comes with all the Augusta VEDs is clear, water soluble and have absolutely no smell before or after using them. After using up the tube that came with my Augusta VEDs, I simply use any good grade of water soluble lube, in the States, i.e. Equate Brand of Personal Lubricant from Walmart. Any good drug/pharmacy store should have several brands/types of personal lubricant. So suggest that you shop around, test them for smell and hope that you find one that is scented to your liking.

I'm in the UK. I get MAXIMUS lubricant from the e-sex shop bondara.co.uk It is totally odorless and water based. I highly recommend the retailer too, great service.

I know you're only kidding, but did you know that lavender, and lavender scent, are feminizing?

Personally, I'm waiting for a lube that smells like p~$$%.

Old Man is right - you can use just about anything.  I use cheap, clear, unscented aloe vera in a squeeze tube. Cleans up with water and who knows - aloe vera's good for everything, right?

The lube I've actually been using is the one that comes with the Augusta VEDs! Maybe I have a super sensitive nose, or perhaps the equivalent they ship with the devices in the UK is different to what gets despatched Stateside?... but that stuff is rancid. Even thinking about it sets off my gag reflex  :o

I just got some Super Slik off Amazon, which - again - smells odd, but doesn't seem to linger once I'm done pumping. I'm happy with that - I can deal with an odd smell for 20 minutes of the day, so long as it's not following me around!

I appreciate the suggestions though, I'll have a look at Maximus next time. I also like the idea of using Aloe Vera as well - you're absolutely right, Nemo - never hear a bad word about it haha!

Another suggestion about an unscented lubricant. If you have any of the major stores like Walmart, Costco, CVS Pharmacy and any other brand like we have in the States, look for the unscented lubes in these.

Our local Walmart Superstore has many generic lubes as well as the well known KY-Gel brand. They even have a type that gives a ''warming'' sensation when used. It is recommended for guys and gals who have a problem with sensation in their sexual activity.

I just cannot imagine that the lube that came with your VED would be on the rancid side! Might be due to the fact the VED has been a warehouse stock area for an extended period.

Lastly, (just kidding here) you might have Superman's sense of smell!

An update on this: - I do believe that the smell I was complaining about was actually a combination of the Augusta lube & my shower gel. That probably sounds a bit weird, but I think it's an association thing - I had never noticed how pungent my shower gel smelled until scaring the crap out of myself learning the basics of VED. You'll probably have gathered from my DMs how terrifying I found the whole "put your dick in a tube" thing, Old Man; I can only assume it's caused me to develop a disdain for a smell I never noticed before.

Anyhow, I've obtained some new lube & will be replacing my shower gel. Hopefully my Spidey senses will stop tingling & I'll be able to crack on as normal!  ;)
