Hi everyone
My name is Geoff, a 61 yr old , and first discovered my peyronies about three months ago.
To say it has turned my world upside down is an understatement .
My wife found it difficult to understand why this had such an overwhelming effect on my moods,
I suppose its a man thing, lets face and be honest , your penis has probably been the centre of your universe since puberty.
I also have BPH , of which I am due to have TURPS operation very soon . I have been taking Fenisteride and Alfuzosin for almost three years and have noticed dramatic side effects , such as breast enlargement, lack of libido, tiredness and the inability to  be able to make decisions... I have just recently  found out about the link , or supposed link , between Fenisteride and Peyronies, but have not had a chance to talk to my urologist about the issue.....
I am really glad I have found this forum , as it is such a difficult subject to discuss with ones friends and family ....please, please , please let there be a cure for this horrible condition

Welcome Geoff,
You will see that there are things you can do to try to address your condition. And I think you will find this to be a very supportive forum.

Hi everyone
I'm really looking for help here .
3 years ago I underwent prostate resection surgery , I was fitted with an indwelling catheta which I had to wear for two days .
This operation was carried out under private medical insurance.
Anyway , the nurse who took out the catheta had not deflated it properly and caused me a great deal of pain when she forcefully pulled it out .
I was discharged but was in a great deal of pain and couldn't urinate properly . I rang my urologist who admitted me back immediately . He apologised , and said that I had a stricture , which is a tear in the urethra , ha said he had never heard of this after such a procedure and when I asked him if it was related to the forceful ripping out of the catheta he said no .
Shortly after I developed peyronies , as you all know , one of the causes can be trauma .
I have suffered much mental and emotional trauma with peyronnies , and sex is completely impossible .
Two years on from the opereration I had a follow up appointment with my urologist , I asked him once again if the stricture had been caused the catheta removal , he now said yes !!!
I also asked him if this may have bought in the peyronnies , he didn't know .

OK, is just my opinion but I don't believe this caused your Peyronies. Others may disagree with me. When we talk about trauma causing Peyronies, it is trauma to the Tunica Albuginia. The sheath of organ tissue that surrounds your penis. It is physical trauma to this combined with an inflammation reaction that causes scarring or plaque formation on this tissue.

I understand you had damage to your urethra as a result which would not be related to your Peyronies.

Your information, I strongly agree.

The impact of finasteride on penile tissues have been largely underestimated, by urologists as well. It might have been responsible for you Peyronies..at least partially.
31 yrs old
Severe congenital curvature. 3 straightening surgeries
Big lump/stitch w/ left deviation after 2012 surgery
Severe ED after last one in 2014. Still crooked
Slightly improved w/ shockwave therapy
Looks like only one side of my penis works

Hi Geoff,

Welcome, and sorry to hear. I know what you mean about how this effects us guys. When I first went to see my urologist (Levine) he gave me the old Woody Allen quote "my brain is only my second favorite organ". (True words.)

However there's a lot of good info here that can help you in not getting worse, and potentially improving. Hang in there!

Finasteride was the reason of my ED start.
Maybe also contributes to my Peyronies.
