Am I doing this right?
« on: May 20, 2014, 10:47:56 AM »

Just tried a VED for the first time, after buying a SomaCorrect from imedicare on the advice of a very lovely board member who has been giving me some kind advice.

My initial thought when I opened the box was that tube A didn't look very big, but - not being one to blow my own trumpet & never having considered myself larger than average - I followed the procedure detailed in the manual & stuck my wang in there (lubed up as instructed).

Now, I appreciate that if I'm going to work according to the 26 week protocol, the idea is that A is a snug fit - in order to stretch the penis as straight as possible. That said (& it might be because I'm new to this or doing something wrong), after a few pumps, whilst my nob was moving in the right direction (excuse the pun) it wasn't even close to it's usual erect length (maybe half way there?) & I had to stop because it felt a bit too much.

I was quite careful not to overdo it in terms of pressure - maybe four or five individual pumps (as opposed to the 3 at a time I think is recommended in the manual), 10 seconds apart, each time. So I can't decide whether the pressure was causing this, or the tube was simply too snug. But I'm inclined to think that - in future at least (I say that because I'm viewing the first week or so as a "warm up" & won't be trying to get 10 erections out of myself, as per the protocol) - my penis should probably be close to it's erect size / the same / slightly larger?

Having done a bit of reading before beginning - & bearing in mind the "traditional" use of these devices - I was under the impression you just pump a few times & the penis balloons to enormity. Maybe that's just naivety on my part!

Anyhow, my (rather long-winded) question is this: - does it sound like I'm doing something wrong?

Or am I just getting ahead of myself? Perhaps 1 or 2 individual pumps (as opposed to 4 or 5) would suffice? By my own admission, I am rather impatient.

I should point out by the way, that I did see a comment somewhere on the 26 week protocol regarding some people having problems with the size of tube A. Not being dense or bloody-minded; just wasn't sure I accept that my penis is big enough for it to be an issue for me lol

I suppose that you will get a more comprehensive answer, but as I know if the tube A is too small, you should replace it with tube B in the protocol.

To further clarify, i'm starting my first day of pumping today - I have looked at this board for maybe 4 hours on end.

Would like to offer some feedback - I think it would be a great idea to give newcomers some sort of idea about the following things:

- that the penis does not actually need to have a full erection. I have read 1 or 2 posts saying they only achieved 1/2 an erection in cylinder with a strong pressure/stretch, such as if they went any further it felt like it could cause damage. I have also read that some posts saying their penis went straight to erect after a few pumps.

- how many pumps to achieve 'erect state'? Even an average figure would do. So far I have seen one person say 3.

I think this could reduce the amount of newcomers overpumping or doing damage dramatically, as I personally couldn't find much in the way of help here.

I have a Somaerect STF for reference.

Personally, I don't understand what the problem is.
Pump to the level that you feel comfortable and no any pain.
Simple like that!!!

Thanks James.

A few more questions.

Another question, do many of you stand up with 45 degree angle to do this or just do it sit down? Or does it not really matter as long as there is solid suction?

Last question - how quickly should I 'pump up' into an erect state? The manual says I should wait 10 seconds between individual pumps. I have read here that once it's fully pumped, it should be left for 5-10 seconds. So this means it should take between 5-10 pumps at 10 seconds each to pump up fully, then left for another 5-10 seconds at the end?

I will say what I am doing:
* Sitting while doing VED, reading the forum or something else, all the session 15 to 20 minutes.
* Making a few pumps, not slowly, not fast, just in a comfortable pace for me, to the level that I feel comfortable and have no pain.
* Holding for 5 to 10 seconds.
* Releasing the vacuum with the release button slowly, not sudden and not braking the seal.
* waiting 5 to 10 seconds
*** Repeating the above for 15 to 20 minutes.
During the time I got used to the timings so I am monitoring the 15 to 20 minutes only, I am not monitoring the 5 to 10 seconds.
I am checking the length of my penis (inside the VED when pumped-up as I explained) and writing down the results ones a week.
Much more details you may find in the forum posted protocols.
By the way, I am shaving to have good seal and using sunflower oil as lubricant. It is not expensive and works for me.

HI

I had the same problem for years, I couldn't get it right.  Finally swallowed my pride and went to the Doctor. He showed me how to use the VED. I tried following the directions here but didn't help.  Going to the Doctor was not that bad, do it Fellas, its worth it.  I use the one cylinder osbon esteem, Doc said that is the best one to use and its simple.

Shave off your hair as low as possible.   Use lube on penis, base of penis, inside base of cylinder, and a lot of lube on base of cylinder where it connects to base of penis.  I mean a "lot of lube".  More than you think.  My problem was not having a good seal, a lot of lube at the base of the cylinder ensures a good seal.  That was it. That was what I was doing wrong for years.  Growing up working class, I am frugal, and wasn't using enough lube.  Once I had a good seal, I followed the protocol.  At first It took me 20 minutes to get full erection, now it takes 10 minutes.  When it hurts or ache, I stop immediately.  then restart.  Anyway, I tried and failed for years, went to the Doc, and they explained how to do it.  Seeing good progress now after 3 months, gained 1/2 inch in length, girth maybe 10% better, still have indents and curvature, but better erections, length and girth. It looks better now, closer to normal than before?,  something I had given up on....Old man helped me a lot too, and grateful to him, he told to go to he Doc since we thought I had an obstruction, but I didn't ...but I needed a Doc to show me how to use the VED.
Fortunately my Doc believes in the VED as physical therapy.  Believe me, if I can go to the Doc for this anyone can...

I might be heading in that direction mrrifkin! Good on you for putting your ego aside and seeking help, my hat goes off.

James - I guess what confused me was a few little things. First was the 3 cylinder protocol (I am using the 3 cylinder augusta somaSTF) on this forum, the one with the title 'PROTOCOL FOR 3 CYLINDER MEDICAL VED’S, 26 WEEK' by Angus.

What confused me? Well I'm reading that most people are pumping for 15-25 minutes. Now the 3 cylinder guide says 10 cycles, and says to hold each cycle for 5-10 seconds, pause for 10 seconds. This equates to around the 5 minute mark, maybe a minute at most longer. Am I missing something here? Where is an extra 10+ minutes coming from?

The last thing that confused me- I have been told that i don't need to pump my errection to it's normal erect state, and half way mark is all it needs. I have read others on the forum that it's 'important to pump slightly larger than your normal erect state' to give it the stretch it needs to start the healing process.

Which one is it?

I suppose the 10 cycles are wrong. Myself not counting cycles, just following time, between 15 to 30 minutes.

I am reading all the posts on the forum and I don't remember such statements, we are always advising to pump to the level that you feel comfortable and no pain.
Can you direct me to the posts/topics that stated the pumping to get the penis larger that the normally erect one?

In terms of timings, it sounds like you may be pumping up a little more quickly than necessary. One full cycle from "flaccid" (or near enough) to "erect" takes me approximately 1'30"/1'40" (I do this by 3x initial pumps, followed by 1 or 2 pumps every 10 seconds - I've found going any quicker than this can cause donuting).

As for what degree to pump to... I've never received a less than ambiguous answer to that question. I too have read that you should aim to stretch the penis out (& tbf, that does seem logical)... however, mindful that you should aim not to cause yourself pain, it isn't always possible to do so - esp if you're in the acute phase. Some of the other protocols detail a percentage: 50-80%; but there is no such mention of this in the 26 week 3 cylinder protocol. I think you just have to exercise a degree of logic - pump until you feel like going any further might irritate the problem. Based on this, I regularly manage to pump my unit to full erection.

Btw, being in week 25 now, I've finally found a method which works for me. It's important that I masturbate to full erection before I use the VED, so that the tissues are "warmed up". I allow my erection to subside - to a semi-flaccid state, & then start from there. If I try to begin from a completely flaccid state, the VED does not work for me - it's very uncomfortable & does not provide much of a stretch at all. Starting from a slightly aroused state prevents this happening, & also enables me to get a good stretch with less pressure. Others will probably say this is wrong, but I'm convinced it's the best way for me to go about this - based on trial & error. It's food for thought nonetheless xrt - if you're struggling it might be worth trying that.
