New pain 3 weeks after Nesbit surgery

Hi,
I had Nesbitt surgery for congenital curvature 3 weeks ago. The operation went well and I've been back at work for over a week now with the only pain coming from nocturnal erections. However, this morning I woke up with a niggling, kind of stabbing pain in the right side of my penis (where the plication was carried out). It's Ok if I don't move and is not severe, just quite uncomfortable. My concern is that, having had no pain apart from night-time erections, why the sudden pain now, when everything seems to be healing up?

There is no swelling, discolouration or bruise of any kind to suggest something wrong beneath the skin, but I'm worried nonetheless. Can anyone think what this might be?

Thanks. Apologies if this kind of question has already been answered. I did look for a similar query but nothing really matched up.

Hi Jones. Maybe it could be from the sutures (rubbing or pitching the skin/nerves). But why not ask your doctor just to be sure. Internal sutures can sometimes be quite uncofortable. Where was the plication carried out? Dorsal, lateral, ventral? I suppose lateral right?

Norm

Agreed, ask your doctor. But I can tell you that after surgery, the pains move around for a while. They are usually transient, so don't be too concerned.

Hi
Thanks for the replies. The plication was carried out on the lateral right. I expected pain following the operation but I guess what's concerning me is that I've had practically none thus far and now suddenly this.

I'll try and get in touch with my consultant tomorrow if it's still there. Thanks for your help.

Well, have you been taking anti-inflamatory/pain pills? After a penile surgery there is commonly a transitory numbness, less sensibility due to tissues manipulation, soreness, swollen,... that can actually lessen pain for a while. As soon as you penis starts to "wake up" from the surgery it becomes more aware of the pain and recovers its sensibility slowly. Whats left from the surgery are the sutures and thats normally the first thing to get you unconfortable. In my case i did not experienced any kind of pain the first weeks. I was taking anti-inflamatory/pain drugs and a mild anti-erection pills. That gave time for the initial recovery phase. Noneless i was doing penile phisioteraphy to strecth the tissues. After 1 month and a half i stoped any drugs and i was left only with penile physioteraphy (axial stretching) until 3 months post-op. It was actually after this 1 month and a half post-op that i experienced some mild disconfort, itching, burning sensation. What was the cause? well two thing. First the circuncision healing (until the skin matures it can be really sensible) and second the sutures, actually pretty similar to your case (lateral right). But with time it all disapear with no problems at all. I would say at 5 months to 6 months everything was perfect like never happened.

I had mine done just over six weeks ago.
No doubt I had internal stitch pain after the intital two weeks, I think I even got a little pinch feel over the weekend.
Also one spot I have to me feels like a stitch knot near the base.  I was a 50* dorsal.
Good luck!

Thanks guys. You've really helped reassure me. The pain is no worse today and still no visible signs of things having gone wrong. I was given no anti-inflammatories or anti-erection drugs - just some OTC painkillers. Guess my doctor believes in doing things the natural way! The pain is kind of like little stabbing pains on the right side where the plication was, kind of like something digging into my skin, so this makes me think it may well be the sutures as suggested. Crazy to think that it takes so long for things to get back to normal down there.

I am 9 weeks post surgery and I still have fleeting pains from time to time.

Just in case anyone else experiences something similar post-Nesbitt and gets anxious like me, the pain has now - several days later - subsided pretty much. Still the odd niggling stab now and then but that's to be expected I suppose. In summary, nothing to worry about. Phew.

My first entry was the week I was having surgery, i watched the video of de-gloving and still went ahead with it!  However I never really looked for post-op information.
I stumbled across this and vented, not the right word, maybe aired my fears, concerns and successes, good place for that.
Lots of experience out there, I too had some weird going on and it was nice to know some of the other guys had similar conditions.
I only have my experience to pass on to you, I had a good amount of internal discomfort from what I assumed was stitches, it got my attention a few times for sure.
I am at 7 weeks and couldn't be happier, everything works as advertised!
Good luck sir!
