Hi I'm new here,

What I've found is an overwhelming amount of very detailed information even in the 'highlights' sections, which can have much medical phrasing. I'm wondering for people who first visit if a simple breakdown would be helpful, a short list.
1. Don't panic.
2. Attempt to find a Urologist with Peyronie's experience.
3. Do not delay it is best to seek help now.
4. I lack the experience to continue this list
5.

10. Study the 'highlights' on specific boards.

Just something very simple. Something to offer confidence and offer a plan of action. Sadly I have a lot to learn but initially I found it all rather intimidating.

Obviously the caveat to research more is key.

It's only a thought but even if the above is flawed please keep the good work going.

Cheers....John

Good suggestion, but I think that is what we hope to accomplish by getting all new members to read the "Read This First" section. But maybe we need to take another look at this to see if it needs to be simplified or remove some medical phrasing.

John,

We are very interested in your take as a new member.  In order to help use please read this and comment on whether the information in this post answers the need. MUST READ BEFORE YOU POST - Information for new members - Peyronies Society Forums

Next tell us if you found that post when you were newly registered on the forum and whether you read it or just figured it was some formal forum information about posting and skipped over it. (you are not going to be scolded if you did.  I just need to know if we have to find some other way for members to read this IF it contains the info you feel new members need)

Thanks

Hi LWillisjr and Hawk,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I think what I did on my first visit was I looked at 'Read This First - New Members' which is the rules, mission statement etc, as I was feeling stressed I didn't read much of it to be honest. I then went to 'Urologists and Other Doctors' where I posted and was asked to post in the 'Introduce Yourself' section.

Regarding 'MUST READ BEFORE YOU POST' - Information for new members. I did eventually read it, I say eventually, because I assumed it was posting rules. Maybe it should be at the very top of the entire forum. Possibly a simplified version could be drawn up for the newcomer with the detailed original linked to it? I fully appreciate how difficult it will be to cover all the bases in a short easy to read précis but on ones first visit with little knowledge of the terminology related to Peyronie's 'less is more' might be an option.

I am not in anyway criticising as I'm not so pompous to assume the validity of my suggestion.

Thankyou for asking me to elaborate, it is greatly appreciated.

Cheers......Liber

We don't take it as criticism at all and appreciate your openness. What may seem obvious to us may not be so to newer members. So appreciate your input.

As LWillisjr has wrote, we appreciate any input that may improve the experience on the forum.
We are too much used to the format and is good to take input from someone that is more new to the forum.
Any such proposal as yours is discussed seriously with intention to improve the forum.

If I understand what you are saying, it seems our post "Must Read Before Posting" contains the needed information but it looks like forum rules so people by nature do not want to take time to read.

Maybe one step is to give it a more descriptive title ???

I renamed it "Survival Guide to Peyronies - Information for New Members"
Other than that, I hate to post a version that is shorter since it seems to me if it is much shorter it will not be much help.

I am open to suggestions.

Hi Hawk

It's a far more obvious title and I think it'll make it much easier for the newcomer to find.

Thanks for considering and acting upon my suggestion.
