I am just wondering how many currently active members of the forum have worn traction 4 or more hours a day over a period of a couple months.  I feel like it is time that those that actually follow the program discuss a few issues like comfort, lifestyle changes, results, etc.

I frankly don't see how an employed person could manage it.

Hawk- I found it impossible due to time constraints to ever wear it more then 2 hours a day.I wear it 1 hour in the morning followed by 15 min of VED. I believe that combo is working. Regards Inkhorn

Hawk,

I have averaged about 4+ hours per day with traction. In order to get the hours in, I wake up just after 6 AM and get two hours in to start the day and then I try to get another two hours in at night before bed. I work from home on Mondays so I get 6-8 hours in and the same on the weekends. The most I have used traction is 12 hours in one day. If I am watching football, I always use my traction device. I also use a VED for 15 minutes five days a week.

As far as comfort goes, I use the Vac3 extension device to avoid the strap/noose tie downs from other traction devices. This makes it much more comfortable but I am careful not to use traction for more than 2 hours at a time. I did for a short while and that along with the VED caused a blister on my glands which forced me to stop both for almost a month (I tried to go use both before I fully healed and blistered again - too much too soon).

Bottom line is that I make time to treat my Peyronies Disease and I am making some progress. I am starting to see some improvement in my distal narrowing and my upward curve has reduced from about 45 degrees to 30-35 degrees. I'll take any improvement I can get. I am on Pentox and L-Arginine, Acetyl L Carnatine, Ubiquinol, Bee Propolis and Cialis and I am relentless in taking them all.

I am also in a relationship with an amazing woman to whom I have told everything and she is very supportive and she always makes sure that I use my traction when we are together on the weekends. I am fully functional sexually and very careful when we have sex. She is very careful when we do and always asks to make sure I am OK. I believe that having sex with her is helping my Peyronies Disease. I just need to make sure I am careful to avoid further injury.

IHatePD,

What device or combination of devices (traction rods) do you have?
Do you know how much tension in Grams or OZ that you apply?
What angle from your body do you extend (up, straight out, down) or do you alternate?

I ordered stronger springs because I wanted more tension without telescoping the rods as far.  My theory was that it was easier to accidentally bottom the weak sprigs out during various activities and movements and risk injury.

I am however being very aggressive and I am applying close to 1650 grams of tension.  That is just to the first mark on the rods.  If I telescoped past the 2nd mark it would pull my penis off.

I almost always extend straight out from the body while wearing lounging pants.  If I use a straight up or down angle the base pushes  against the base of my penis rather than against my pubic bone and it gets uncomfortable pretty quickly.  That is why I cannot wear street clothes very well.  Also, my BPSFL under traction is 7 1/8".  If I point that straight down it either jams into the crotch of my pants or I have to route it down one leg, in which case it becomes very difficult to bend, sit down, or even climb a flight of stairs.  I do notice that my suite pants are more roomy but I have seldom tried it with those.

I think the only employment you could wear this to would be if you were a lecturer at a nudist colony.  Or maybe a lecturer at a civic group as long as you stood behind a large podium.  :)

Current routine (To regain size since my degree of bend is slight) (Am considering a 3 piece implant in 1 year) :
1600 -1650 grams of tension
x4 Labs with wide "comfort strap"
4 - 5 hours per day (in 60 - 90 minute sessions)
6 -7 days a week (I try to get in at least an hour on my "off day".
Angled straight out in a robe or lounging pants.

I plan to continue 1 month past the point that it looks like all gains have stopped. (I use very accurate measuring)

Hawk,

I started with the Andropenis and modified it with the Vac3 extension device for comfort. I don't know the amount of pressure the springs exert on the stretch. I also have the complete extension device from the same website since I am between home and my work location every week and keep one at each location. You can find the Vac3 Extender by searching for it on the internet. The Andropenis instructions for Peyronies Disease are rather aggressive: they recommend quickly building up to 9 hours per day and at first adding a 0.5 cm. every two weeks and then bimonthly for a six month period.

The site for the Vac3 extension device a has modification for Peyronies Disease, a bar that you place over the extension rods so that you can stretch your penis over it putting additional stretching on the scar. For example, my bend is upward so I put the Peyronies Disease bar on top of the extension rods so that I stretch my penis over it causing it to stretch and bend downward, putting more pressure against the scar. I alternate using the Peyronies Disease bar and just straight stretching.

I usually wear sweat pants or gym shorts when using the extension device and keep it pointed downward per my urologist, against the direction of my upward curve. It gets uncomfortable as the ring puts pressure on my scrotum and the base of my penis so I move it around a lot to make it more comfortable, trying to keep it pointed down as much as possible. Wearing pants with the extension device is not possible.

Hi IHatePD!

Glad to see someone else is using the andropenis extender. I've been using it for 3 months now, unfortunately couldn't keep up with the hours and lengths schedule, but am using it everyday, average of 3 hours per day. I try not to worry to much about the length issue but more on the time I have it on.

However, curvature is worsening.

My question to you is: After a certain length, how do you manage to point the extender down?

My penis also bends upwards, so I'm afraid of worsening it by using the extender pointed upwards. Because one should preferably position the extender in a contrary fashion to the peyronie's curvature. I hope I'm making myself clear... as it is quite difficult to put into words.

Finally, Should I just take some measures off and get to a length where I can use the extender pointed downwards?

Thanks

P.s: I think I might be getting a VED also...

Jose

Meanwhile, I received an e-mail from andropenis telling me to always point the traction device downwards, due to my upward curve.

Quite a revelation, feeling like an idiot...

I was using the extender pointed upwards, placing it between my trousers waist and my belly, whilst sitting.

I should have been using it downwards all along. 3 months use down the pipe... Frustrating!

So, anyways and moving along, I was checking out other posts in the forum when I found the Vac3 reference. I'm thinking about buying it...

Because this andropenis device is partially "mutilating" my penis, my glands are swollen and suffer immensely when I pull/tighten the elastic/silicone bands, and also due to this my foreskin has grown immensely, in the lower part...

Hopefully, by buying the vac3 extension kit and consequently being able to wear the extender during more sessions, I can make up for the lost time.

I guess that if that somehow changes the experience of the extension/traction session, without me wrestling with it (generally due to it slipping, hurting, etc.) I'd feel somehow compensated, and be able to put the necessary hours....

I reject all advice indicating the direction that a Flaccid penis is stretched (by any style of traction device) has little to do with the direction of your curve, bend, dents, or hourglass deformity.  When a flaccid penis is stretched, the shortest fibers are the ones that limit the stretch.  They are the ones that have tension applied first and other tissue cannot be stretched until the tissue on the shortest side of the penis are stretched.

Think about it.  Why couldn't you stretch it further?  It was not because the the tissue on the long side reached its limits before the tissue on the short side.  When you have tension applied it is easy to feel the internal tissue and where the tension is applied.

Gentlemen- I'm with Hawk on the direction the traction device lay's in.That being said I was told by John Parks that there should be more tension on the "bad" side of your member then the other, and that's how I have been wearing my device. Regards Inkhorn

Gentlemen, My Uro told me to wear the extension device pointed downward since my curve was upward, The instructions for the Andropenis say the same thing. The Vac3 site has an adapter for Peyronies Disease. It is a "block" that I put on top of the extension rods which I thenb stretch my penis over further stretching my penis downward and putting much more stretch on the top side.

I think that pointing your penis in the opposite direction helps. With that said, I do point it upward at times for comfort. I don't think pointing it upward in my case is a problem. I think any stretching is helpful.

When I use the "block" I don't use it as much as I become sore from the additional stretching and I don't want to cause a problem on the underside of my penis.

I think each of us needs to experiment a little - carefully - to see what works for each of us. Unfortunately, there is no one solution for all. I think that consistent treatment is important with great care to do no additional harm.

I do miss every now and then but I am averging probably 4-5 hours per day over time. I also use the VED about 5 times per week. My distal narrowing is starting to become fuller and my upward curve has gone from about 45 to 35 degrees. Very encouraging. I am also in a relationship with an awesome woman who insists that I keep up with my VED and traction. I am very encouraged as our sex life has been great, although careful. I did slip out with her on top last weekend but without any pain or damage. That was a close one - very scary.

Those blocks are worse than nonsense, they are dangerous.  The studies by Levine made no effort to stretch the penis in a direction opposite the bend.  There is NO logic to that.  AndroPenis knows less about Peyronies Disease than most urologists which means they know as much as the local nurse at the ER.  They primarily make money convincing men to buy their product to give them a huge penis.  Their opinion in this matter is worthless in my opinion.

unless you have a curve at the absolute base of your penis, direction cannot be an issue.  It is a logical issue that can be clearly demonstrated if you will get 5 or 6 rubber bands and have one of them shorter.  When you begin to stretch the group of bands, the shortest one has to have tension placed on it first, regardless of the direction you pull.  Next: Other than at the very base where the penis is attached to the body, the penis is stretched straight along its own length.  For instance, a bend half way down the shaft is unaffected by angle of pull.  This can clearly be felt if you palpitate the tissue while under tension.  You can feel the strained structures in the penis.

The only impact of down Vs. up or sideways is that a downward position very likely places more stretch on the suspensory ligament which is actually within the body at the base of the penis.

Lets move from pure deductive thought and logic and move to practicality.  Who can stretch a 6+" penis straight up or straight down and wear clothes.  It would be cinched under your belt or hitting the stride (crotch) of your pants.  You have to veer off down one leg or tilt in one direction or the other.  Trust me, that has NO impact on your curve.  By the same token, a man without Peyronies Disease is not going to train a curve into his penis depending on whether he stretches it up or down.

Not to belabor a point, but what Hawk is saying is good logic and corresponds to experience--and is important because there are too many cheap companies trying to make a buck off our hope to get better (e.g. by making us afraid that we've done something wrong and wasted time or that we need some extra piece of equipment).   When I use the device, no matter how much tension I put on either side--I can see and feel the strain on the left side, because that's where the plaque is.  I wonder if wearing it up provides less overall tension--at least with the way my device is made--so I increase tension if I'm wearing it up. If I'm wearing it down, I decrease the tension to so it isn't uncomfortable.  And I point it down the leg that seems most comfortable.

Hawk

Securing the Strap - I wear a pretty high level of tension during traction.  As a result I sometimes experienced my penis slipping in the "comfort strap" (misnomer).  Even when I cinched as tight as possible, the strap would back through the slots a notch or two and get lose enough to allow gradual slippage.  While the unit did not come off, it would release the tension.  I first remedied that problem by cinching tight and wrapping the tails of the comfort strap up around the top of the device.  That puts more resistance against the ridges that are designed to keep the strap from sliding back through the slots that hold it.  After wrapping the strap around the top I would put a rubber-band around it a few times to hold it in place.  This worked well but on occasion I have had a rubber-band pop and hit my penis.  These were glancing blows that did not hurt much but the potential is there to make you jump a foot into the air.  I now use a little adjustable nylon collar made for cats or puppies.  I have it adjusted to size and it has a quick connect/release collar clip.  Like traction in general, it takes a few tries to learn how to put it on with only two hands but it is pretty easy once you get used to doing it.

Improving Comfort - With the traction tension set high it gets uncomfortable after 60 - 90 minutes.  To make things worse the last memory foam pads I ordered from X4Labs seem substandard.  Once compressed they seem to not rebound and stay thin and compressed.  My old ones still work much better than the brand new ones.

Well the other day I removed a 2" memory foam topper off of my mattress since I bought a thicker one.  While debating what to do with the old one I decided to cut a chunk from the corner.  I got some scissors and kept cutting the corners off until I had a round cylinder but nowhere near perfect.  I cut it a little bigger than the memory foam sleeves that came with the traction device.  I figured the tricky part would be cutting a plug out soi I would have the hole through the center.  I have a box of surgical scalpel blades that are much like pointed Exacto knife blades.  I traced a circle on each end and stabbed the blade full depth and slowly cut a circle.  The circle was full blade dept but less than half way through the foam cylinder.  I next rolled back the edges kind of turning it inside out and cut the base of the plug and removed it.  I repeated it to another blade depth then did it a 3rd time starting from the other end until I had a hole the entire way through.  I had my new memory foam sleeve.  I turned it inside out to trim any small irregularities with scissors.

While not perfectly machine cut, it works perfectly.  The sleeve is thicker and a more dense memory foam.  It is also a little longer so it sticks out further on each side of the comfort strap.  This provides a good cushion for the glans and still sticks out the back of the comfort strap to prevent pinching when tightening the strap.  It is way more comfortable.

This raises a few questions.  Do these companies not know enough about their devices and the penis to know how to provide a better sleeve, or are they too cheap to spend another dollar to provide better sleeves.

Hi Guys-interesting thread. I've not been on for a while and checking in because I'm having serious doubts about traction being effective at all. I started 10 weeks back @ 3 hours per day 6 days a week, and on the 7th. day I rest :) During that time my bend has gone from bad to worse approx. 45 deg. to 55 deg. I use the Andro Gold and a 0.5 cm extension for a gentle stretch. The tension is there. I have to work again soon and can't see me wearing it then as it is totally impractical. Can anyone tell me they have their very own experience of traction working for them, and if so, what is their practice regime and results? It's such a discipline and a drag for something that is not working. Cheers IC

LWillisjr

There is the dilemma. I understand you think it is not working but we don't know the unknown. You don't know had you not been using traction at all, that maybe now you would have a 75 degree bend.

I continue to think that traction or VED use during the active phase helps to slow down the amount of deformity.
