In June this year I underwent a Nesbit procedure to correct a downward congenital curvature of just over 45 degrees (see 1 week post operative concerns (nesbit) - Peyronies Society Forums for further details). Since then I have experienced various problems; some of these have resolved with time whilst some are a continuing issue.

Almost straight after the surgery I experienced painful urination, constant pain when erect, shooting pains when flaccid, intense swelling with haematoma, persistent curvature and the incision site became infected and started to dehisce. Since then the swelling has subsided and the incision site has healed, although it is still extremely bruised and the incision site has scarred badly. The curvature has remained as well as the pain when erect/flaccid.

I have visited my GP several times since my operation to deal with the infected incision site which was rectified, and I have seen my surgeon twice: once was a referral regarding the painful urination and the second was for a cystoscope under anesthesia in which they also gave me an erection test. The surgeon could not understand the burning during urination as the nature of my surgery (plication to the top of the penis) meant he did not go near the urethra, this has still not subsided. Furthermore he confirmed that the surgery has failed to correct the curvature and that a repeat procedure will be necessary.

My concerns now are thus: the early stages of post-surgery tested the relationship I was in to breaking point (they were supportive I just couldn't cope) now I am in the early stages of a different relationship in which I'm scared of explaining why we can not have intercourse, I'm worried that telling them will end this too; I am still experiencing pain whether flaccid/erect which is disturbing my sleep and I'm sure this should not be the case by now; the bruising is still prominent and has shown no change for months and I worry it will be permanent.

The stress this has caused me is something I could never have imagined, it outweighs any of the psychological problems experienced by the condition itself tenfold. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. I regret ever opting to have this done.

ADB,
How long has it been since you had the surgery? Healing is a long slow process and you need to be careful. I think you need to up front in your relationship and tell them what is going on. If they leave because they have to wait a few months to have sex, then I'm not sure that is a person I would want a relationship with.

Hi adb

Just want to pass on my experience as it seems to be quite similar to yourself. I also had a downward curvature but it was about 90 degrees. I went for a nesbit operation with a local surgeon in the UK in April 2012. The outcome was very disapointing and i felt almost suicidal at times that it went so badly. The curvature was reduced but it was still about 45 degrees. I also had permanent sutures that were very noticeable under the skin. The worst bit for me though was the circumcision scar which was terrible and that was what made me question the surgeon most of all. I had one follow up with him in June 2012 and he said that the curvature was ok and to give the circ scar more time. So i left it for a year but there was no significant improvement. Having read these boards and other research, i came across Dr Kuehhas in Vienna and the stage procedure. I made an appointment with him in May and had surgery with him in June this year. It did seem a little crazy to go so far and it was expensive but i am delighted with the results so far at nearly 4 months. I am not fully healed yet, he used absorbable stitches and these will take another few months to go away. However i am totally straight and the new circ is so much better. He also told me that my first op was not actually a nesbit but a 16dot plication! Fortunately he was able to remove all the stitches from the first op. The experience was also completely different to my first op. I stayed in Vienna for one week and saw Dr Kuehhas every day for a check up. I am also still in contact with him by email to give him updates.

In terms of advice, I would say obviously you need to give it some more time and not rush into anything. If you do decide on a 2nd surgery I certainly wouldnt go back to the same surgeon. If you have the means I would fully recommend Dr Kuehhas. He is a fantastic surgeon and very friendly person. If you look on these boards you will also see other surgeons who may be good. In my experience and most others i read on these boards, it is important to go to a really top specialist. I tried to keep this reasonably brief so if you have any questions, just ask or send me a message.

All the best

Hi Les,

Thanks for your reply, and your support as with the last time I posted here. It has been just over 3 and half months since my operation. I met with my consultant again today and it was pretty disheartening. He listened as I explained the issues from previous meetings (pain, bruising, dysuria) were still persistent, he is also aware of the recurrent curvature as he performed an erection test under anaesthetic. He was particular unhelpful as usual and wasn't even going to do a physical examination, he only asked if I wanted him to when I urged that the bruising had not subsided at all. When examining me his actual words were 'this is disappointing, such a shame, I'm sorry for these problems' however he offered no further advice and could give no answer as to whether the pain would go away and suggested that the bruising now may in fact be pigment change due to the trauma. He then gave me a call-back appointment for 12 months time which seems ridiculous as I am still experiencing these problems. As for the relationship you are right, I have to tell them at some point, I may as well know sooner rather than later. Do you think it's still early days? The consultant doesn't particularly seem to know any of the answers which is very frustrating.

Thanks again!

Hi DC,

I am really interested to hear more about your experiences as they do sound quite similar to my own, I'm also interested in the surgery you have now had to correct it. I have dropped you a message.

Adam.

ADB please have a look at my post on the psychological part "buprenorphine", this medicine will make the physical pain disappear as for the psychological pain it really can help you.

The bruising may be indeed a change in the pigmentation. After implant a part of my scrotum is a bit darker. I can imagine how you feel and there were times when friend here were so down too. But I can tell you that future can be amazing in a good way. This disease have many phases you are into a rough one, but there will be other phases.

I think your uro tried to be honnest with you. He admited that it's attempt hasn't brought the result you and him wanted. I think you'll have more success to correct the curve with an implant. If it were me I would not do another Nesbit procedure since I consider it more mutilating that the implant. Implant is more invasive but it can cure your problem. Take your time to find a good surgeon.

As for your relationship, don't bother you. If you give her tenderness, if you give love to her, why wouldn't she be fullfilled ? As for sex, licking her p~$$% can make her so...upside down you know. When I was almost 100 % ED I engaged myself in several relationship and one girl told me that oral sex is what she enjoyed the most. More than penetration with me or any other guy, and that was true. She had orgasm every time we did sex.
Another girl told me that sex was very fullfilling with me because I was willing to give her pleasure, to make her feel good, caressing her, touching her clit, kissing, hugging etc... You don't need a penis to deeply satisfy a girl, you just need to give her love and acts like a male. Think like an animal !! Be inventive !!

A lot of men think that penetrative sex is the alpha and omega while dealing with bedroom matter but in fact women tends to seek connection with their partner. There are A LOT of way to connect you to your girlfriend. Try to appreciate every moment of it.
