Hello. My name is Mazie, I'm from the UK.  And my husband has had peyronies for the last 15 years. After an unfortunate incident involving a plank of wood, but that's a whole other story for a different day. Anyway we had a few ups and downs in the beginning (if you'll excuse the pun) but found after a while that we found ways around the problems. Well until recently that is, he now seems to have developed a whole new set of issues, most of which I suspect are in his head, but it had become a problem none the less.
Previously the only issue has been which position was best to accommodate the curvature to the best advantage for both of us, very interesting experimentation and some fun and laughs where had along the way I might add. Bit now he seems to have erection issues, he has been seen by the doctor who, after a few tests that all came back ok, has put them down to his peyronies disease,  I have to say I'm not convinced.
Well I guess my question is has anyone else, after suffering from it for so long had any issues with getting it up ( not to put too finer point on it)
Would be grateful for any feedback
Thanks
Mazie

Has he had any type of treatment for the Peyronies Disease? Does he take any medications for it? If not, then there are things that can help. At the very least he should get on the PAV cocktail. That is Pentox, L-Arginine and Viagra, or the choice here seems to be Cialis daily instead of Viagra. He might also consider getting a VED. Anything that helps keep the blood flowing is a good thing. If he is not doing any of these things, then you may have to be the one who pushes him to try. It will benefit you both. I am sorry you have to be here, but you are welcome and we hope you find answers here. Read the Must Read document for a crash course on what this ailment is all about.

Has your husband been tested for venous leakage, that is where the blood flow leaves the penis before he can archive a full erection.

In my opinion, and the experts at Vanderbilt, he should be doing the daily VED exercise along with daily Cialis. I have simplified the exercise and posted it in the VED section.  The recommended positions for sex are, girl on top or from behind. For missionary it is recommended to put the girl's butt on a pillow, that changes the angle and allows for better penetration and movement without slipping out. Also a rigid penis with good lubrication is a must to prevent new injury.

If the curvature is to much for intercourse then surgery becomes an option.  I have posted the surgery options in the surgery section under "Mending Broken Hearts."

I must say he is a lucky man to have a wife like you. I don't know how well I would have done without the support of my beautiful green eyed wife. We have been married 45 years now.

Keep us posted. Any way I can help let me know.

ED is, in many cases associated with Peyronies because plaques are obstructing the blood flow into the penis . Not always.
I will second Jack regarding venous leakage. Your husband have to pass this test to be sure from where the problem is coming.

Mazie,
I understood you to say the Peyronies was from 15 years ago and that the ED is recent. Many of us deal with ED issues as we get older so it may or may not be related to Peyronies disease. I would encourage your husband to get to a doctor and discuss his issue. Has he changed medications recently? Many medications can interfere with desire and harness. Also it may be time to try Viagra of Cialis if he hasn't done so already.

Mazie- I don't recall if you stated your husbands age, but I am assuming he is around my age,(62). My advice, and I'm no professional, is for him to have his testosterone levels checked. I have been doing T since about 2 years after RP. This does a world of good for libido, energy and for some it helps with ED. Two books I recommend-" Testosterone For Life", by Andrew Morgantaler and "The Anti-Aging Revolution" by Ronald Klatz. If nothing else it will help the "problems in his head".Regards Inkhorn

At my age (71 now) I have been doing testosterone replacement for over 20 years. I have tried the gels, patches and shots. Of all the shots work best.  I go to my regular doctor and he keeps up with my blood work, in fact he does a better job with my T than my local urologist. When I was at Vanderbilt I asked Dr. Milam about my treatment with my local doctor. He told me he was doing it the right way. Total Testosterone in the high side of the lab range and Free Testosterone at least 60% of the lab range.  Most general practice urologist only test Total Testosterone.

I agree Dr. Morgantaler is the best when it comes to testosterone.

A lot of men are diagnosed with depression. Once there testosterone level comes back up to normal the depression goes away. Enhanced libido, energy, body fat control are among the other advantages of testosterone. I lost over 40 pounds when I got mine under control.

JackP:

That's awesome. As may already know, I'm a huge proponent of testosterone as are my urologists who are treating me. In addition to the fight against Peyronie's, test has changed my life. I'm in better physical than I was 20 years ago and my libido is through the roof. So I'm very happy to hear about your successes.
