Inhibition of myofibroblast contraction via peptide

The contractile force of myofibroblasts (these are in the plaque) can be altered with a peptide... so one would think if used in Peyronie's then the bend would straighten.  Perhaps there is a therapeutic application for peyronie's using the Ac-EEED peptide

"These results show that Ac-EEED can influence myofibroblast contraction in vitro and wound contraction in vivo and suggest that this peptide represents a new candidate for the treatment of inappropriate connective tissue remodeling in several pathological situations, including Dupuytren's disease."

It may not happen, but fingers crossed that someone takes studying this one further, even if it's just in Dup's.  Xiaflex started in Dup's and they took it to Peyronies Disease.

Here is a video from the 2010 Miami Dupuytren's Symposium demonstrating the action. Since Dupuytren's pathology is related to that of Peyronie's  I find it relevant.

The question is when it will be available as treatment for Dupuytres's or Peyronies.

No problem. I posted all of them because I think that they may be beneficial somehow IF they were used for our condition. As far as it all being targeted and used for peyronie's , that is a whole different battle. Our condition is so obscure most of this technology probably isn't even thought of for use with peyronie's. It doesn't help that there are really no vocal proponents to peyronie's disease out there either.  It's more of a sit and hope deal at this point.

There is more going on to start Peyronies Awareness than most are aware of.

My wife and I did a video promotion on peyronies for Xiaflex. No we did not endorse it. I got to tell my story my way that was unscripted. I know of at least one other videos. These are to be shown to the Xiaflex reps as well as doctors and patients. They tell of our struggle, both physical and physiological, to find doctors and treatments. I emphasized that there are only about a half dozen great doctors treating peyronies and more need to be trained. Among them were Dr. Milam and Dr. Levine.    

Les is also involved with another awareness program. Voices in Action.

All of this should become public after the FDA approves Xiaflex.

N-terminal peptide of α-smooth muscle actin Ac-EEED sequence is what it says.

OK, I don't know anything about that but the line of peptides I mentioned should, in theory, do what I hope they can do.

Matt, I've got very little understanding of it myself, doesn't seem like something that someone could readily get their hands on unless you worked in a lab or something, much less administer without knowing a great deal of science.  The delivery system of the peptides to the tissue seems to be either through microinjection "This sequence, microinjected in myofibroblasts"  or attachment to another peptide that is able to enter the cell
"We have observed for the first time that the peptide AcEEED, which can be efficiently delivered intracellularly when linked to a cell penetrating peptide (pAntp)..."  I'm not a scientist, though I wish I were so I could take some action myself...

Jack, that's great news, I am glad to hear that you are helping to spread the word of our condition in hopes that the medical field will pay more attention.
