Just something else to keep a heads up for, there are multiple fronts in the war against fibrotic diseases and using RNA s one of them.  Targeted therapy towards dupuytren's or peyronie's may come down the pipeline, especially if it's made known that there is a strong demand. So take a look, any thoughts anyone?

relatively recent and potential siRNA technology study geared specifically towards Peyronie's plaques...whaddyaknow.   The target is HDAC2, (Histone deactylase 2)  More studies invested into decoding HDAC  may yield better results in how to deal with Peyronie's.

No problem, just been doing a little homework and dug up some interesting happenings going on at Nitto Denko, they've filed patents on potential therapies left and right concerning the fibrotic process. one just needs to google search their patents. Their flagship is on the liver, but the basic nature of fibrosis is related in any organ (excess collagen production, myofibroblasts, inflammation etc.) and from what I've read it strongly suggests that their research may prove to be valuable in assisting other organs damaged in this way. Let us know if you hear anything.

James, this is the developmental drug and treatment part of the forum right?  I'm merely trying to make aware of another potential therapy for fibrosis  and not let it fall into the realm of obscurity if it can help us one day with this miserable condition. The data may not all be there yet as it's recent and undergoing, but don't you agree it would be something worth keeping an eye on? I'm not trying to raise any false hopes, just making aware of some research happenings. RNA therapies are an exciting new frontier just as stem cells are.

I agree with you that that is  the developmental drug and treatment board of our forum and everybody is more than welcome to post any new potential treatment.
I just want to understand where is the trial they are mentioning (number of enrolled, relative results etc') to be able to understand the chances and timing :)

that you have to pay to see the full text of is unfortunately almost more than likely not specific to peyronie's, probably the liver, lungs, or kidney, but I cannot tell as I haven't payed. Sorry if it was misleading,  I posted it just to show that they do have a drug in phase 1 dealing with fibrosis, and that it is involving RNA therapy that may be beneficial to our condition if targeted. If you look down at the last link I posted, one of their patents, it does mention Peyronie's disease as a potential target, it's long so use "find" and type in peyronie's. This is all speculative still, but I found it interesting and felt the need to post it here.

The "Inhibition of histone deacetylase 2 mitigates..." abstract that I posted was just showing that someone else ( I don't think they are affiliated with Nitto Denko) has used Peyronie's fibroblasts in an effort to understand and potentially target Peyronies Disease and other fibrotic disease with siRNA technologies.    

"Decoding the individual function of the HDAC isoforms by use of siRNA technology, preferably siRNA for HDAC2, may lead to the development of specific and safe epigenetic therapies for Peyronies Disease."

As far as timing, I can only imagine it's not going to be tomorrow, but over years. It's more than likely that they won't actively go after Peyronie's disease with this therapy, which is , in my opinion all the more reason to be more vocal about it somehow, our condition is an obscure one.
