I bought a one cylinder under the guidance of a wise old friend on this forum and finally broke down and used it tonight for the first time. First I put off the purchase for over 2 weeks because I wasn't sure of what I was doing and then when it arrived I just threw it up on a shelf and tried to ignore it. For some reason I was really wrestling with this whole idea and feeling sorry for myself over the condition of my injured penis. Well tonight I put the thing together, lubed up and gave it a gentle, slow try. I have to say after just one session I can already see where this has promise. The vacuum created in the tube causes the penis to expand and fill with blood in a healthy way that it just won't do anymore since being injured. While pumping up if I watch carefully I can see right when the scar tissue starts to affect the erection and make it lean which is my cue to go easy on the pressure. The VED also creates much more girth and length than a natural erection and the appearance of my penis in the tube while under pressure is much fuller and straighter than a "natural erection" with much less hour glass effect. Obviously I am a complete newbie rookie but after just 15 minutes of gentle experimentation this strange plastic device that was freaking me out has given me a spark of hope. I can see where this thing shows promise! Thank you all for your help so far!

Here's to the journey!  8) \m/  8)

All I can say is that you were told what could and would happen. So, now that you have experienced first hand the good results from proper use of the VED, you are well on your way to seeing more good results.

Keep the forum up to date on the progress that you are making so that others can share the wealth of results with you.

I will my friend! I can already tell I'm going to have to hold back my excitement because if you tell me it's a 26 week program I want to figure out a way to finish in 13 weeks. It's just my nature to over do everything! I'll be good! I promise! ;D

Knight

There does seem to be something wrong with this unit though. There really weren't any directions included (maybe I should look through the box again) but I assume the soft black button on the face of the pump is to release the pressure? Mine doesn't do anything. At first, when the black button failed, I was pulling off the VED to break the seal and release the pressure but that added strain on my already pumped up penis so I started unscrewing the pump to release the pressure. Seems like that black button should be for that?

Litani

Yes.  The black bottom releases the pressure. I pump and wait 10 seconds and press the release button.

Knight

This unit is defective. The black button does nothing.  :( No big deal, I'll just note that when I register and see about a replacement. ;D

NeoV

Glad to hear it's showing promise!
I finally ordered mine off amazon here to Tokyo, it costed double the price just to ship it but I really felt I needed it as soon as possible.

I'm really looking forward to it!

Knight

Good luck NeoV! I've spent much of my life in the gym working out and I'm kind of taking that same approach with the VED therapy. When weight training my motto is to stimulate, not annihilate and that's how I'm approaching VED therapy. I learned this lesson many times the hard way by over doing it in the gym which only cause injury and worn out body parts so I'm not going to make that mistake with my VED therapy. I'm going very slow and easy under the guidance of those with experience on this forum. The last thing any of us needs is further injury to our already damaged privates! Please let us all know how it goes for you when your VED arrives!

Update:

I've been doing the VED therapy for about 2 weeks now and today I also had my first appointment with my new urologist at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. First let me state that very early in my VED sessions I learned that it is a fine line between enough and too much stimulation/suction. I liked what I could see happening inside the tube and got a bit too aggressive in one of my first attempts which did cause some pain in the penis right next to the area where my plaque is most prevalent. Seems "stretching" needs to be done very slowly and carefully. I have been much more careful since that incident with better results. I have constant irritation whether flaccid and/or erect, but not usually what I would consider "pain", but this was pain...no doubt about it. After a good VED session my flaccid penis looks almost normal in girth again even though it still curves to the left. The curve in my erections hasn't gotten better but it's still early in the process and I'm still learning.

The appointment with the urologist at The Mayo Clinic was refreshing because I finally feel confident that I have finally found a doctor with experience in treating Peyronies. But let me be perfectly clear that even though the man seemed educated and experienced he didn't teach me anything I didn't already know. Basically my new doctor just confirmed everything you guys on this forum have been telling me. I don't know anything this evening that I didn't know this morning but I feel more confident than ever that you guys are an invaluable resource in fighting this awful condition. So after confirming that I have a large plaque between the size of nickle here's what my new doctor said to do:

1. Stop using the topical Verapamil, it is probably worthless. (Even though I despise the stuff I may continue it anyway since I have a valid prescription. It may not help but I doubt it can hurt and who knows....).
2. He gave me prescription for Cialis.
3. He gave me a prescription for Pentox. (Finally!!!).
4. He told me to continue with the VED therapy! (He really seemed to believe in this! He thinks a guy should use it 6 out of every 7 days which I don't recall being discussed here but I might have over-looked).
5. He told me to continue with the supplements if I want (Ubiquinol, Vitamin E, L-Arginine, Fish Oil, Multi Vitamin).

He told me to follow the above program for 1 year before judging the results. He did stress that it probably would have been much better had I started all this within the 1st year of contracting the condition and he honestly didn't think there was much hope for significant improvement in my case because of the length of time I have been hiding it and living with it. As disheartening as that sounded coming from a doctor who seems to be up to speed on Peyroines I left feeling very hopeful because of the stories I've read right here on this board. Sure it probably is better to begin treatments ASAP but I've got some friends right here that are defying the odds by using the same program as stated above. I feel I now have all the tools we know of to fight this and I'm going to do so with everything I've got in me.

If you are new and/or just being diagnosed don't hide, don't wait, take action!!!

And in the end if all else fails he said we could do silicon implants. That will be my last resort but it's a great option.

In my opinion you found a competent doctor :)
The treatment you have got is the prevalent treatment on our forum.
To stop VED one day per week it may be to let your penis to rest. I don't remember that is written in the protocol, but I am doing the same.
Please give us the details of the doctor, it may help others. You can post on:

or send me a PM.

Okay! My turn! I can basically second everything Knight said in his first post, but some different impressions as well.

I received the Augusta manual pump single cylinder - aka "vitality OTC" three days ago.
This is the cheapest medical grade VED I am aware of, and is the one often recommended on these forums.
Thanks to Old Man for all the help so far! First off,

Background: My scars are soft, and in multiple places half way up on underside of my shaft causing an upward bent and slight hourglassing. I am 26,this started 2 years ago but had symptoms since 19 or 20.

Like other's, my initial and first use of the VED yielded immediate results that have lasted ever since I started it.
My first impressions are these:

-fuller penis / no more "hard flaccid"
-lessening of hinge and hour glassing like I've never seen before
-Subsequently, urine stream improvement
-Erections induced afterwards feel and look more like old times; solid and whole, not segmented and weak!
-Small but visible improvement of dent and hour glassing
--And most importantly, I can finally ejaculate normally. This is a god send. I can actually enjoy orgasm now, since ejaculation no longer results in blood leaving the penis and a transient priaprism / bending. For years this, I have theorized, has been the cause of my peyronies. Constant bending always after ejaculation. Even a single kegel while flaccid would always result in bending and hinging. If I kegel now while flaccid, my penis does not even move. This is simply outstanding for me.

The VED has seemed to solidified my penis already, and evened out the blood flow.

Questions: I think Knight, I, and many others have demonstrated that VED can offer immediate results. (In my case, huge results in the ejaculation and orgasm department). Can it be said with any confidence, that more results come beyond these initial ones in the months to come, or after the protocol? I know VED is a constant long term therapy, so I don't ask much here, just curious what people have experienced after the initial results like Knight's and mine.

For you young guys on the fence, do not hesitate. Get a cheap single cylinder VED now, do not overpump, and you will surely see some kind of improvement.

It's inspiring to read these success stories. They are an oasis of hope in a sea of desperation.

The VED alone is a critical tool in restoring functionality to our penises. Without VED, my penis remains tight and smaller. But when I do VED every day, my penis hangs fuller and my erections are better.

As I've mentioned, a protocol of VED, traction, Pentox, and Cialis is the bedrock of therapy for this plague. Looking beyond those, making sure your testosterone is at the high-normal range and that you are eating a diet of high protein and low carbs and getting a good amount of exercise is important as well.

Here's how I would rank the various treatments:

First Tier:

(1) VED (Thanks to Old Man for his research and his advice on the proper use of the VED for Peyronie's)
(2) Traction (4+ hours/day is essential. Wear it as long as you can for maximum results)
(3) Pentox (400 mg/3x per day minimum)
(4) Cialis (I take 5 mg/day for maintenance but sometimes skip a day to insure my body doesn't get used to it)

Second Tier:

(1) Testosterone (Including supplements to raise testosterone (D-Aspartic Acid) and nitric oxide (L-Arginine or preferably Citrulline))
(2) High protein/low carb diet (protein is essential in building and repairing muscle while carbs can make you gain weight and slow you down)
(3) Exercise (focus on low reps with heavy weight since that creates more testosterone)

Third Tier:

(1) PRP treatment or (Priapus Shot) (typically about $1,800. One shot is all you need but you can get another shot in about 3 mos.)
(2) HGH (you can get it for less than $500/month)
(3) Stem cell treatment (typically about $5,000)

Fourth Tier:

(1) Experimental processes, including peptides (This tier would be skipped until these processes are shown to have some degree of efficacy)

Fifth Tier:

(1) Surgery, either to fix the bend or get an implant. (The ideal implant is the AMS 700 LGX because it expands in both length and girth giving the penis a natural, full appearance. Thanks to Jackp for bringing it to our attention.)

And please, no smoking!! That's how I got Peyronie's.

In conclusion, if I could have only one form of treatment, it would be VED, hands down.
Got Testosterone?

Awesome post Matt,

Very conclusive I love it, thanks a lot! I think I have to agree with your "tier list".
I wish we could have this list posted somewhere clearly for everyone to see.
It would be great to have an official therapy tier list that is updated regularly based on voting of senior members. However, I guess that would just be misleading, since this disease is different for all of us.

I feel like I must be getting lucky with this VED, but my penis has changed so much in just one week. I've never seen it so large when erect, and never so straight. In fact I cannot believe I am even writing this right now, but indeed my penis is bigger and straighter than a week ago. This is my personal experience only, and I do not know what else will come of it nor do I know what VED may do for others.

To be fair, It took a while today to induce a naturally very hard erection today. Once the dents and everything "filled out" (20 minutes or so), the resulting erection was like nothing I've seen or felt. I'm thrilled, while also trying not to expect too much.

Knight

I am about 3 weeks into the VED therapy and I have to say at this point I get mixed results. Some days it seem better, fuller and straighter but some days it seems worse with more curvature. Natural erections seem much firmer but that could just be the Cialis. But I do realize this is only the beginning and I remain hopeful for positive long term results.

Three weeks are really nothing for VED therapy. Just keep going and you will see results.

Just checking in with a quick update. Everything remains status quo for me as far as supplements, prescriptions and VED therapy goes. In the last few days  I have experienced some pain directly around the area where my plaque feels the hardest and sharpest. I suppose this is from over pumping but I honestly don't know how. I'm very careful with the VED, but no matter what there always seems to be some discomfort. But this time it isn't just discomfort, it's definitely pain. It is either from too much strain being put on the scar tissue from the vacuum pressure or it is re-injury as a result of sexual activity with my very caring and patient wife. Starting last night I backed down even more with the amount of pressure I'm using with the VED, but it is very difficult to gauge how much is enough to have a positive effect on the Peyronies Disease and when the VED is actually making matters worse. All we have to go on is feel and appearance?

Then to make matters more interesting (worse) Blue Cross Blue Shield health insurance has decided to fight me and make it difficult to get my Cialis prescription covered. Last month they didn't give me any trouble and now on the firsts refill they want to play hard ball and make us jump through hoops. My poor wife spent hours on the phone today between the insurance company and The Mayo Clinic and we still haven't reached a resolution. It is very frustrating to pay for a policy and then have them fight you when you need them. I wish all the these people (or their spouses) had bent, painful penis's so they could experience what we go through. To hell with them.

Sorry to vent, but this is about the toughest thing I have ever had to go through and the anger that is there every day is very real. I'm sure you all understand.

I will continue doing everything you all have suggested and patiently wait for good results! Tomorrow we battle the insurance company again.....tonight low pressure VED for hope!

I was going to take a short break to heal but I went ahead and used the VED for 15 minutes tonight. (I did skip last night to heal a bit) Tonight I went at it very easy by slowly working up to about 4 pumps max where as previously I would go as high as 6 or 7 pumps. I know "pumps" is not a very accurate way to judge the amount of force any one individual may be placing on their penises, but it's all we've got and it does offer some idea of the ultimate pressure. Besides using less over all force I kept the holds short and then slowly pumped back up by doing 2 pumps, pause, 1/2 pump, pause, 1/2 pump pause, (and so on) release, pause and repeat. All in all I was much less aggressive on the "stretch" I placed on my damaged tissues and so far it seems to have stimulated a natural pump with no further pain or irritation (although I always have some irritation anyway, it just doesn't seem worse). Whereas before I would slowly work up to a pretty aggressive erection in the tube, tonight I never made myself get completely hard. I'm just testing the waters so to speak. I'm thinking being this cautious every time may not have an over all positive effect (not enough stretch) but I have to learn proper stimulation without annihilating myself!   :o

I'm not sure if this would be proper therapy under normal circumstances or if what I was doing before I got hurt was proper, or something in between is the ticket but at this point working up slowly is the way I will proceed and monitor for pain and/or irritation. If I have to take a break I will, I just want to be sure as to not waste any time.

I'm just throwing this out there for feedback and to help other newbies find the best way to perform VED therapy without risking further damage.

Where my plaque is, and as hard as it is, I'm not sure these tissues are ever going to be elastic again without a miracle. How much "stretch" I can get out of the surrounding tissues seems to be the key to compensating and correcting the curvature. Is my theory correct or false in your opinions?

Respectfully - Knight

NeoV

Knight,

I think Old Man and the others will agree that less is more, and that a full pump is not necessary at all. Even partial "engorging" is hugely beneficial. There are studies demonstrating a massive increase in oxygen levels in the penis after one use. And the scar will be stretched, or rather blood will be forced to enter the small areas of the penis it couldn't before. I do not believe it's just a matter of stretching the scar, but rather about getting the blood into the small damaged areas of the penis. :)

inkhorn

Gentlemen- Follow Old Man's protocol to the T. Men of my generation always think more is better. Strong coffee, fast women, and strong whiskey! With VED less is more. Make sure he tells about "milking". Regards Inkhorn

Knight

Quick update - I did have more discomfort/pain after my last VED session, even while being extremely sensitive to amount of vacuum I was using. So taking the advice of my mentor, The Old Man, I have stopped using the VED for the last week to heal up. I think I will give it another night or two to make sure I am healed and then restart the whole process using less pressure this time.

NeoV

That's a good call Knight

Lymph injuries can be noticed by a sharp pain in the area, or a tightness. I am almost back to normal after my lymph rupture(?),
But I can sometimes still feel something upon erection so I'm waiting even longer. Hell, I've been off the VED for nearly a month now!
It really takes time, but our bodies do heal so don't be afraid it won't. Take some rest.

In other news, my peyronies is still there, and it looks pretty dented when flaccid. But upon erection I am still looking much better and feeling better in general. I am able to completely rid myself of the dents in my penis if I take a long time to induce a natural erection. This is a huge deal for me, I think I might have mentioned it but I cried when I actually saw those dents disappear! The VED works, though I consider it a messy process. I'll update in more detail on my situation after I give myself more time to heal the lymphatic vessels.

Knight

Yeah I've had to be extremely careful. I think I have healed from my mishap but even now it doesn't seem take much to aggravate these damaged tissues. I'm not using the VED every day again yet and when I do use it I am not pumping it up as much as I was. And like I previously stated, I "don't think" I was getting all that aggressive in the first place. I believe my unit is unfortunately so damaged that it is extremely fragile even at it's best right now. I have very recently gotten worse, not better. I can still achieve and maintain an erection but its not very stable. I have a nasty curve to the left and a very thin section right down at the base that makes it very flimsy even when completely engorged. I have large sections of plaque on the left side, top and right side right at or below the base of the shaft (even/mostly where it extends inside my body). The fact that my insurance company is fighting me on the Cialis, leaving me without any for the last 2 weeks isn't helping. I had only been on Cialis for a month but it really helped with the erections. Funny thing is before that I never needed or wanted it and now I don't want to live without it. Cialis had its draw backs too though. At 54 years old I'm not used to getting an erection just because the breeze kicked up and all those stiff erections irritated the Peyronies Disease and brought on those itchy crawly feelings.

I'm committed to giving all these supplements, Pentox, Cialis (if I ever get it back) and VED therapy at least 1 year to show me something as long as I am able to remain reasonably sexually active with my faithful and beautiful wife, but I'm already pretty much given in the the idea on having an implant done. It's a scary proposition, and I have no idea how I would explain my hospital trip and time off to heal to my extended family friends and employer but it's a bridge I'm preparing to cross.

Emotionally I have both good and bad days. Living with this secret isn't easy. Being less than a "whole man" in the gear department is a tough thing to live with it. But I'm also grateful that it isn't worse and aware that there is hope. I love reading success stories on here. Sometimes hope is all there is to hang on to, but hope can be very powerful!

I wish we could all cast this demon behind us and get on with the business of living!

Quick update - It's not been going as well as I had hoped. After taking a week or so off a few weeks ago I slowly worked back up to consistent daily VED sessions being extremely careful with the amount of vacuum I used. At first it looked like everything was progressing good again but then the pain, itching and irritation came again. When this thing gets riled up it's no joke, very miserable to live with. I do not know if it's the VED or sex (or both) but something feels like it's making matters worse, not better. It's a bit frustrating and I'm not sure what to do next. I can feel my plaque and it is quite large and extremely hard on both sides but especially the left side. There is a spot that is painful to even the lightest touch and the plaque feels very hard and sharp under my skin. I would like to give the VED, Pentox, Cialis and everything else time to have an effect but I'm starting to seriously wonder if I should be seeking a qualified surgeon and get aggressive to put this behind me. Just thinking out loud so to speak....

Emotionally I'm doing better. I refuse to let it completely dominate my life like it would like too. If this does come down to surgery there are so many questions. For instance what do you tell people? I'm (we) are living with an evil secret. Telling your friends, family and coworkers you have busted up penis is not exactally everyday conversation. It sucks to be ashamed and embarrassed over something we had no control over. Most people have no idea such a condition even exists.
