Hello to all,

My name is Jeff and I have peyronies. I discovered a bend in my penis one day (evening to be precise). I was getting a little bit of a pain in my erect penis when my girlfriend and myself were messing around so when I dropped my trousers I nearly died with shock! my erect penis was bent and I had a pain where the bend was. Fortunately I have a fantastic partner and she comforted me by telling me not to worry "WE'LL" sort this together.

This was in February of this year and I made an appointment with my GP and he referred me to a urologist, he explain what it was and what possibilities there was to rectify the problem, one solution was to cut out the scarring but making the penis shorter!!!. He also told me that I may have to wait between 6 and 18 months until the pain subsides and the bending stops progressing before he does anything. 9 months have past now and I went to see him on Monday but this time it was a different doctor. In the time between seeing the first doctor and this one I have gone from pain with a semi erect penis to no pain at all and an erect penis. I do get the occasional ED but I put that down to my age (55yrs young  ;D ) but he has prescribed a low dosage of viagra for such occasions and my girlfriend helps by dressing in sexy gear too!!! ;D ;D ;D, the bend is still there but do not suffer when having intercourse (Costing me a fortune at Agent Provocateur ;) ) .

long story short! This doctor seemed to know a lot more about this condition that the other doctor and said if I was still enjoying a healthy sex life then it's best left alone. He wants to see me in three months time to check it's progress (or hopefully lack of progress). He did tell me that if the bend became more 90 degree then it may be advisable to do invasive type surgery which he stated would involve stitching the opposite side of the bend enabling to force the penis to straighten (a totally different process to the advise from the first doctor).

I hope this will be a comfort to other sufferers of Peyronies and I will post again in three months time to let you know of my progress.

Regards

Jeff

Both doctor don't understand in Peyronies too much if they are just telling you to wait and see.
The second one sounds better, but the surgery he is proposing you it will shorten your penis a lot.
Hope some members that understand better than me in surgeries for Peyronies disease will jump in.
You should start oral treatment as soon as you can and also VED to stop the disease from progressing.

shippo,
Your story sounds like so many here. Classic Peyronies......  bend occurs, pain initially during the active phase, becomes stabilized and the pain subsides, but curve doesn't go away. Your doctor is close but missed a couple of key points.

1. Don't WAIT to see if it gets worse, try to actively keep it FROM getting worse. Read up on the VED and traction boards on this forum. You will want to be proactive to keep things from worsening.

2. I DISAGREE  that sex becomes difficult at a 90 degree or more bend. I have personal experience (read my story), and have spoken to many guys. Sex can become uncomfortable at about 30-40 degrees but tolerable. But at 60 degrees or more sex can become nearly impossible or even painful for your spouse.

So don't wait. Do you have an estimate or your own curve at the moment and/or any other symptoms?
