Hey guys,

I've been prescribed 2.5mg Cialis which I have been taking pretty much daily in line with my urologists recommendation.  Thing is, I sometimes wake up in the morning with a strong erection that takes a while to go down.  It is never painful, but I'm concerned that I maybe suffering some form of priapism at night while sleeping.  I know it does not usually resolve itself and mine does go away, but it is still a concern.  I may discontinue use of them.

I know you guys can only advise and I should get a medical opinion, but it will take months before I get another appointment, so I just wanted some informed opinions on the matter :)

I have the same thing and I call it a "pee hard on".  I usually wake up with an erection that won't go away until I urinate in the morning.  Obviously urinating with a 35 degree upwards bend is not an easy thing to do, but as soon as I empty my bladder, the erection goes away.

I consider it a good thing to have the morning erection and since there is no pain associated with it, I don't really worry about it.

Thanks for the reply GS, yeah I used to get hard ons in the morning, but stopped getting them after I developed issues with my fella.  It just freaks me out that priapism is a documented side effect of Cialis and if you're asleep, how would you know it was happening?

I guess maybe the pain would wake you up. To be honest, my unit seems (at least in my mind) a lot more easily damagable now as I've become more aware of conditions that can affect the penis - I've perhaps become over paranoid :)

Guys, it's only considered priapism if the erection won't go down after 3+ hours. Otherwise, enjoy it. ;)

Thanks matt, yeah like I said I think I'm just super paranoid. My most recent urologist put down my penile issues to me having had a priapism - something I have never been aware of having and that you think I would remember.  I think this was just an attempt to form some sort of diagnosis (I've had multiple other urologists pass me back and forth) so he could move on to the treatment phase.  I guess it kind of lead me to think, 'but what if a priapism occurred at night - how would I know?'.

Anyways, my erection in the morning usually subsides fairly quickly, life goes on and I can find something else to be paranoid about  ;)

Thanks for the input guys
