Im curious to hear any personal success stories regarding traction therapy. first hand, not from studies

MtnSurf

I honestly believe my plaque is decreasing with traction. I can feel it smoothing out with my finger while I'm stretching to where it actually feels some what normal. I have a tract of plaque along my septum and corpus Cavernosum where my dick was bent during sex. Once I remove my traction device it does feel more normal and loose after initial post stretch contraction. Whether it's a combination of healing time & meds/traction I can't definitively say, but I honestly think it's helping me. I started to stretch more often recently and will try to get 5 or 6 hrs in daily which seems to making a positive difference in my case. Plus the quality of erections seem to be improving as well. I'm assuming (and hoping) my plaque hasn't calcified yet. My penis trauma occurred in Dec. of 2011.

MtnSurf

My urologist in Chicago who is one of the few specialist in US who have done research on peyronies thinks it can help, but he did tell me it's all based on theory and couldn't guarantee it would cure the disease or reverse it. Traction is very uncomfortable and a pain in the ass at first but it may make a difference. In theory the concept of stretching scar tissue makes sense & has been proven to make a positive difference on other tissues in the human body that have scarred.

edzo67

Mtnsurf, I have the same type of injury and its causing it to bend downward. I wonder if the angle of your erection before injury dictated which way you are most likely to bend with a peyronies injury? My erections were straight as an arrow before and if I was not fully erect? It would slightly arc downward. That must be why I have a downward bend. Only makes sense the injury would tend to favor the direction your junk was pointing in the first place. Anyhow the hard tissue is on both sides but more so on the left and it runs about a 1/3 of the length from the top. My biggest problem is the hinging effect at the head where I'm not getting the blood flow into the tip. I can actually live with the bend the way it is now. I would just live to get the blood back to the top to fill the head.

funnyfarm

I tried it very gently and it made me much worse both times.  I recovered but it took a few weeks.
Wish I had a better experience.
When you are in tune with the unknown, the known is peaceful.

MattFoley

I know that I really need to devote more time to traction therapy but the idea of stretching my penis for 4 hours a day versus (2) thirty minute sessions of VED a day keeps me from making a full commitment to traction. But, I will start the traction daily at some point.

Matt:

Keep doing the VED therapy long enough to give it a chance to work. Doing both traction and VED therapy at the same will surely put a lot of extra strain on ones penis.

In addition, with both being used at the same, one would not know exactly which therapy did the work, etc.

MattFoley

Old Man, thank you for that info. I was concerned that I might be overdoing it so yeah, I'm gonna concentrate on the VED for now since I really do believe that method has the best possible chance of repairing the damage.

Edzo, I fortunately don't have a bend. I have some deformity (bulging tissue) around where my dick was bent by my ex GF's pelvic bone and I lost 1.5-2" of length. I still have tenderness and mild pain in area around surrounding where it was bent and a slight indentation.  The top 3rd of my dick lost a lot of its elasticity from the scarring. Pre trauma when my penis was hard it had a slight bend or natural curvature back towards my abdomen. I don't really have that curve anymore because of lost length I guess. I have an appointment next week with my uro in Chicago. I'm going to ask him if I'll likely get a severe bend if the plaque calcifies.

How long ago was your injury?

NeoV

I've been able to smooth out my scar and bend considerably with manual stretching. I've used downward stretches and "fowfers" with a pillow to stretch out my suspensory ligament. This has lowered the hinge-point of my penis (as some research has even shown can happen with traction), and helped me a lot.

The only thing is that I don't know what my penis would be like if I hadn't done manual stretching, but I have a feeling it would be much much worse given how deformed it would get if I didn't do it.

Stretching actually improves my deformity visually instantly after I do it. Particularly the fowfers, which focuses the stretch on all of the ligaments in your lower penis which hold it up and can cause hinging. You can use a bed or a chair and do it the classic way by basically "sitting" on your penis, or simply try to just use your hand to pull your flaccid penis between your butt cheeks. As stupid as it sounds, it's been a savior for me.

edzo67

@mtnsurf   Its been 15 months since my injury. I believe that i may have injured myself a second time about 4 months in. Felt another pop during sex. Its after the second time that i started to lose blood flow to the tip, but cant be certain it wasnt heading that way to begin with. after using my first traction device use, i did notice a difference in flaccid length. It seemed to hang longer and loosen things up a bit., but i had to stop using it because i thought it was irritating the plaque under the noose and making me have a feeling of irritation during urination.have tried a VED as well but dont think its helps with my particular situation. have tried using cock rings during sex but it kills the sensation for me because its so tight, but it does keep the blood up in the head. although its really the corpus part thats not expanding to support the head. i can fold the head of my penis right over during regular erection.

MtnSurf

edzo, man that's rough. peyronies is rough hand to be dealt in life. I can see why you'd want to avoid the noose style traction device because the strapping point is too close to your scarring. Maybe the suction type would work better for you that you mention in your other post. I've thought about trying it too because most of my severe scarring is in the top 3rd of my dick, but it doesn't seem to be irritating it too much from stretching, so I've stuck with the noose type. I lost close to 50% of my normal function in the 12 months following my injury, but have since got some of it back.

Does your plaque feel at all palpable? Are you on pentox or do you have a good urologist?

edzo67

some parts feel palaple. some parts feel really hard, mostly right under both sides of the head. not currently taking any meds. i tried the natural route, nattokinasse, high test vitamin c,d and e.It really messed with my digestive system to the point where i had stabbing pains in my stomach, so i stopped after a couple of months. I have a good uro. i sought out the most qualified in the state. He has been invovled with peyronies studies and is well versed in different approaches. I have a follow up with him in the morning. its been a few months since ive seen him last. If there is anybody in this forum from massachusetts that needs a good uro? u can check out mens health boston or their website menshealthboston.com  there are a few docs over there, my doc is DR. Connors. He was a huge improvement over my original guy and i felt comfortable with him right off the bat. They treat a lot of peyronies cases over there and when u go for an appointment there is usually a handful of guys in the waiting room with u. It is somewhat uncomfortable in the waiting room because almost everyone there is there for peyronies treatments and everyone realizes that. Soooooo there is very little eye contact in the waiting room because of the shame. I just want to jump up and tell a joke because u can cut the tention with a knife. Other than that the staff is great! and they even have a candy dish!!

MtnSurf

Good luck with your appointment. I'm sure you did research on pentox. I'm not a fan of prescription meds either and am typically sensitive to taking them, but have been on 400mg pentox & 5mg of cialis for about a year with no real noticeable side effects. My regular doctor in Pittsburgh had done some research on pentox years ago & concurred with my urologist in Chicago that it will aid with the healing process in the body. I think it does help. The healing process in the penis is slow and may not be relevant in comparison to healing in other parts of the body. I've been on pentox for about 1 year. Before I started taking it I had been dealing with severe tendonitis (tennis elbow) in both elbows for almost a year (pre dating my penis injury). It was due to over use from whitewater kayaking which I do twice a week on average. After being on pentox for about 2 weeks my tendonitis was gone and has not come back in the last year. Maybe it was a coincidence, but like i said, I had it long before I started taking pentox.

You may want to look into L-arginine 1000, acetyl L-carnitine, pycnogenol, ubiquinol, CoQ10. They are all over the counter supplements and seem to easily tolerated in my body.

edzo67

Well.. I just returned from my uro visit today. Good need and bad news. Bad news is they found the plaque in the head of my penis to be calcified, which explains why I can't get any blood up in there. Unfortunately that is not a good prognosis. Good news is , the plaque causing my curve had not calcified and still has hope, however I would rather have the blood flow to the head and live with the moderate curve. I am going to start pentox for the first time today and hopefully continue with traction when I recieve my new suction type unit. I believe that the noose type device contributed to the progression of the plaque just under the head of my penis. I felt I left the dr office without having all my questions answered as time was tight with my drs patient load. I was interested to find out that my dr was involved in the xiaflex trials. He brought up that they are hoping to have it approved this September , however it's my understanding that it wasn't used on calcified plaque although I can't confirm this at the moment. Maybe if I whack it real hard with a hammer ?if that will help break up the plaque?  Joking of course.. Ok let's roll the dice with the pentox!! Come on lucky 7!!

Mrgnarly

Ive managed to improve my condition to 5-8 dgrees during a moderate erection from nearly 30 degrees with dents 12 months ago. During a full erection its nearly straight now. I did everything except pentox, my Uro thought my case was mild to moderate and early. I believe the traction helped a lot as it stopped it from getting worse. I now use a suction traction device that stays on all day. I had  maxed out on the regular traction device after 6 months  so it appears I added length although that was not my intention. My uro suggested not buying or adding extra lengtheners.  I also work on maximizing flexibility around my hips now with regular mechanical stretching at the gym and yoga. Ive noticed minor improvements from that also. I now work on controlling any potential inflammation as I believe Im still in the acute phase. (15 months)

NeoV

Thanks for the information Mrgnarly. I think my case might be similar to yours, since I am still in an acute phase with no hardening or obvious calcification. I haven't tried traction, but manual stretches have really helped.

Mrgnarly

The phallosan.   It's slower at working so you have to wear it longer  than the mechanical devices. but it's more comfortable so it's easier. I wear it 8 hours a day at work and it wont fall. I  have slept with it on a few times.  It's safe to wear while you sleep as long as you don't try and sleep on your belly :) I've had some improvements after a month or so.  The replacement parts are expensive though but it's been worth it so far.

MtnSurf

I had an appointment last week with my urologist Dr Levine in Chicago. I've been stretching for about 9 months in addition to taking pentox, 5mg cialis and various supplements. His measurements showed an almost 2.5 centimeter stretched (flaccid) increase in length since about a year ago before I started traction. He Also noted an increase in elasticity since last year and much less scarring (fibrosis) along the shaft. I had a penile fracture at end of 2011. I don't have a bend in my penis but have about 1 inch scar along the septum and lost at least 1.5" in length. He encouraged me to keep up with the traction as often as I can. It was encouraging to hear some positive feedback with definitive increase in length and overall improvement since the trauma.

2 centimeters isn't the 1.5" I lost, but it's a start. Keep in mind, every case of peyronies is different, but I'm definitely going to continue with traction.

BBB

MtnSurf- what stretching device do you use, and what is your daily stretch time?
Mrgnarly, I know I've seen it, but to save a lot of time searching, do you have a link to phallosan?
Thanks, BBB

BBB, My uro suggested the Fast size and that's what I've been using. I've tried different clamping attachments from other brands but have come back to the original silicone noose that came with the Fast size model.

I've been trying to stretch for 4-6 hours daily. I live alone so it's easy for me to stretch that often. I do 2 hours before work and try to get at least 3 hours or more in after work or before bed. I'll try to use traction any time I can if I have a chance. If I know I'll be in the car for 1.5 or 2 hours I'll try to stretch for an hour or more of my drive time. I bought a pair of baggy yoga pants with a low crotch to wear traction device while driving. I'll put something under my dick to support it while seated in the car like a hand towel. So it's slightly lifted and not pointed down towards the floor. I've found it's the only way to tolerate wearing it in the car. I'll try to wear it in bed while watching TV before I fall asleep, but am careful not to fall asleep with it on. I've even put the traction device on in a public bathroom stall. I know it sounds creepy but I don't really care. Once the door is locked no one knows what you're doing and it only tales me 30 sec to put it on. I've found it hard to put it on while seated.

Yep it helped me regain my lost length and i gained some girth. It also had an unmistakable positive effect on my erectile quality.

hey bb just try  phallosan.com I cant be sure of any substantial net gain since I got Peyronies Disease. Since my case was mild i think im back with a little extra apart from a residual slight curve. I have read some guys have made better net gains but that takes at least a year from what im reading. I guess its some consolation for the Peyronies Disease if youre willing to committ to traction long term.

BBB

I know there are worse things in life, like cancer, a death of a loved one....but Peyronies Disease really hits hard. I never, ever, thought I'd be dealing with a bend, shortened penis. Sex with the wife is difficult to say the least, and there really doesn't seem to be ANY simpathy  from her regarding this issue, and when I mention devices, she thinks I'm just doing it for the excitement, not a treatment. She especially has an issue with spending 2-3hundred dollars on these devices. I did notice a $50 traction device on ebay, that looks like the expensive ones, just to see if in fact they work. Anybody know about these knock-offs (generic products?)
Any help will be appreciated.

At its core, it is really a very simple device. Someone else here bought a $50 ebay one and it has worked well for them, cannot remember their name at the moment though.

Things that are necessary is that it needs to be spring loaded, this is the most important point. Then you need markings or you can make markings on it, for how much tension is at each point.

Where you strap yourself into it is also hugely important but very hard to know what is best without trying. This is where the expensive ones have the biggest advantage, as the nooses are of softer silicon or rubber that hold better with less discomfort, and often also offer the 'comfort' strap which some prefer but does not work for me at all.

Craig, thanks for your opinion. You state the 'comfort' strap doesn't work for you.....what do you prefer? We (the newbies to Peyronies Disease)-really depend on other sufferer's input, hopefully we can get some help without trial and error expensive shopping.

I don't know if you mean me specifically but I got one around $30 in an auction on eBay as well as a suction cup-type connected by a bungee cord that velcro straps to my ankle.

They both work great.

The traction device (generic I guess)-I was inquiring about was the GOLD HYBRID DOUBLE SYSTEM Penis Extender Stretcher Enlargement Hybrid System-on EBAY for about $50. It says its spring loaded, looks OK-just wondering if anyone has had experience with these, less expensive devices.

MattFoley

I've been using the suction cup +bungee cord + velcro strap to my ankle device and after a week of 4+ hours a day of wearing it, I have to say without reservation that I've had some success.

I have the bend and "bunching up" (narrowing) right under my glan and after wearing this device for a week, it seems the bunching up is gone or temporarily relaxed. I haven't checked the bend degree yet but I will soon and post my results here.

BBB

Matt, you're talking about the 'ego-booster' from ebay, right? How, exactly, does it attach to the penis? I don't really see a vacuum-type bulb in the picture on ebay.

Thanks.

MattFoley

BBB, the cup is a soft silicone material. You basically roll the cup back, apply your penis to the rolled back cup and gently let the cup roll down over the head of the penis. The cup will now act as a perfect seal. And that's it. Like I said, when I have to piss, I pop it it off and then after I clean the head, I roll it back on. It takes 30 seconds to put back on. It's been doing an amazing job for me. That's why I'm confused why everyone keeps talking about expensive traction devices that you can not wear out and suction devices that are really expensive.

edzo67, yeah, I've had success with the device I keep talking about. In only a week, it pulled apart the compressed area right under the glan. It's not only a great traction device but it's easy to hide and comfortable enough to wear where after a while you forget it's even on. And it's cheap.

I also have a standard traction device which I never use. It's ridiculous to try and wear out of the house. And, it's not as comfortable.
Got Testosterone?

MtnSurf

@matt, I just ordered one from ebay. Like you said it's very cheap so why not pick one up & try it out. I've been looking for something to wear outside the house as well. Something more comfortable than the extension rod device I wear at home.

Can it only be worn with it pointing down your leg?

-Thanks

MattFoley

MtnSurf, cool.  :)

Yes, it can be worn down either leg. When at home sitting at my computer for a long time, I will even tie the velcro part to some part of a table or chair and as my penis can handle greater stress, I will either change my body position or move the chair further away from me just to keep maximum pressure on it. That's just my little thing I like to do. Otherwise, it's just fine to anchor to your ankle or even under your foot depending how much pull you want to achieve.

In the week I had been wearing it, it caused significant change to the compressed area under the glan. That area no longer has that "bunched up" look and I couldn't be happier. I haven't re-checked the angle of the bend by it seems to show some improvement.

And as you already noted, this is a simple and no brainer solution to the traction issue.

At night, I still do the following VED technique:

(1) I use a rice sock to heat the penis.
(2) I apply avocado oil & vitamin e oil and massage it in.
(3) I use a very wide constriction ring at the base of the penis.
(4) I use the VED for 5 minutes on and 5 minutes off for about 30 minutes. (For me, I have to watch porn in order to maximize blood flow into the penis)

That process works specifically for me because of my type of Peyronie's. It may not be ideal for you or others so I urge caution should you decide to do it.

Nevertheless, good luck with your new traction device.  :)

Yeah I picked one up also on your recommendation, I will still try to get as many hours a day in as I can with my Fastsize but will add this in around that as extra low level traction hours. I did intend to try phallosan at one point but the massive price for such a simple gizmo turned me off, this looks like a good alternative.

When I bought mine, I figured, what the heck? If it works, great, if not, it was only like $30. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me. :)

I know I've commented on my traction experiences here a long time ago, but just to summarize:

1) all pain, both flaccid and erect ceased for the 2-3 months I used it
2) hard flaccid completely gone while on it
3) flaccid curve completely gone
4) restored elasticity, much easier to stretch the tissue
5) increased stretched length while flaccid, although not much more while erect.

unfortunately the noose caused some scarring to form underneath the glans and I had to discontinue.  After reading about these newer suction attachments, I'll give it another shot, since it's the only thing that really made any improvements with me in 3 years.

MattFoley

I had something weird happen last night while using my VED.

I always put on a cock ring before using the VED and I did so last night as well.

As I started to pump, the erection ring come up about 2 inches from the base of the penis. I was looking at it wondering why the heck it was doing that since it usually stays put. I realized that the base of my penis was hard as a rock and so it was pushing the constriction ring up and away from the base. Beyond that, the penis was weaker as usual.

I then used one of the lesser constricting cock rings to finish the VED session. (I have 5 constriction rings and one metal ring which goes on the outside of the other 5 rings. So you can basically say that I'm the "Lord of the Rings".  :P  OK, yeah, that was bad.  ;) )

Anyway, I'm not sure what the heck this means but it did make me feel better seeing the base strong.

The reason I'm placing it here under traction is because I devote a large amount of time wearing my traction device whereas I haven't been able to allot much time towards VED. So I'm thinking that the traction may be playing a role in perhaps creating a work-around solution for blood flow. I'm also noticing that I'm steadily increasing tension on my traction device so I'm happy with that as well.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

hi,
like a lot of you, Im lost in this world of despair of peyronies and its all just happened to me.  My urologist is completely uncaring about anything that is happening to me and I need to source answers elsewhere.  I need to know what to order for the best traction device to try and assist the problem.  I dont care what it costs, this has really upset me and to say that I am anxious to see a pathway to fixing it is an understatement.  Im so scared in time it will affect my sex life and render me feeling useless.  I am sure many on here know the feeling.  Currently, things are still working ok, but lots of pain to have sex, and erections are just predictably bent to the left versus what was a proud penis.  I need to know what you guys have found works, I see testosterone injections may help as well, pls comment.  But I will buy the traction device immediately and get started as soon as it arrives, but pls direct me to the best one that is available, your experience is vital.
I hope to get a normal life back again soon.
cheers

Find yourself another Urologist ASAP. I'm sure your post will be moved to the introduce yourself section. However, for now, read all you can on here. There is a wealth of information, some of which will guide you to finding a good Uro.

As it sounds as if the onset of the disease is fairly recent, you must act now!  The sooner you fight back against this, the better your chances of mitigating the damage.

Orally, you need Pentox ( it can be bought from an online pharmacy if your Uro won't prescribe it) Alc, Arginine, or Citruline Malate, CoQ10 or Ubiquinol. Possibly add low dose Cialis too.

Traction or VED will also help. This is all about maintaining a healthy penis with good blood supply.

But, most importantly, act now! Don't wait.
