Hi. 36 years old from the UK (England).

I'm not sure whether I have peyronies, but here is my story.

Two and a half years ago I was taking an anti-depressant called Paxil that wiped out my sex drive. In frustration I took a Viagra to have sex. My penis got erect, but it was totally numb (from the Paxil). I got hard enough for penetration, but I felt nothing, and I mean NOTHING. After a few minutes I ejaculated, but then found that I had jammed my foreskin beneath the helmet (I believe this is called paraphimosis). This was extremely painful as the glans was now exposed. Driving home was awful and all that night I couldn't sleep. Next day I went to the doctors and he used cream to return my foreskin to the normal position. I have a large, pea-sized scar just beneath my helmet from this. Six months later (2 years ago) it happened again. I now have one large scar/ lump on the top of my penis, just beneath the helmet. This is painless however. But I have a second, smaller lump/ scar on the left of my glans, about an inch down from the tip of my penis. This IS painful (though the pain seems to come and go- it will be painless for weeks then start to hurt or itch and get hot after masturbation). If I'm masturbating regularly the lump is painless. But if I abstain from masturbation for a few weeks and then masturbate it hurts :-\. However, I don't have any curvature of the penis and, though I rarely get morning erections, I believe this is to do with depression and other psychological issues unrelated to the scars.

I also have even smaller scars on other parts of the glans. None of the scars have got any bigger over the last 2 years.
Last summer I went 3 months without masturbation, and I rubbed vitamin e and garlic into the painful scar every day. This made no difference at all.

This may or may not be Peyronies, so there are only two real suggestions to make here. Go and see a urologist as soon as possible for a proper diagnosis. There is absolutely no good reason or advantage in waiting further. In the meanwhile avoid doing anything that might cause further problems. The safest option is to leave it alone.

About 2.5 years ago I was on an anti-depressant that totally wiped out my sex drive and left my body and penis numb. I got so frustrated with this that I took a Viagra in order to have sex. But the desire wasn't there. So I had a sort of fake/artificial erection without any of the desire or sensation. I wasn't fully hard and felt no sensation (I mean NOTHING). When I withdrew I found that I'd jammed my foreskin beneath the helmet (paraphimosis). This meant the glans/ head was exposed. It was incredibly painful and next day I had to get a doctor to dislodge it. A few months later it happened again. That second experience was 2 years ago, and I have several very hard lumps/scars, of different sizes, all over my glans from those two sexual encounters- I've had these scars/ lumps for at least a year or more. Thankfully I don't seem to have any curvature, but the lump at the base of the helmet on the bottom left of my penis has flared up in pain whenever I masturbate (I'm not in a relationship atm). I can feel the hard lump beneath the skin, but at the moment it's almost too painful to touch. The pain seems to come and go however. It flared up like this once before, about 6 months ago. Is this normal? Is it peyronies?

I've read quite a few of the old posts on here, and it seems that something called pentox is the best treatment available. I rub man 1 man oil into my penis several times a day (this contains vitamin e and L-carnitine).

Hi,
You can have scars on the glans because of ulcerations (some people masturbate with sand paper, believe it or not, or various items that induce a lesion), or because there was an accident (zipper). It is also possible to get scars from diseases such as lupus vulgaris or from penis tuberculosis, of which papulonecrotic tuberculides can create symptoms that could make think of what you describe. A cause of glans scars can also be herpes, which is in fact the most common cause for genital lesions.

But in your case, it could also be a disease called bxo or Balanitis xerotica obliterans, which is related to phimosis.

It seems to me you have bxo or herpes, and not Peyronies, because of the pain you describe and ocurrence of your symptoms and I suggest you consult your physician/urologist to get proper diagnosis and treatment. Do not stay without treatment, as at least one of these diseases can have impact on your kidneys.

Keep your glans clean and dry, you can use 3% hydrogen peroxide to clean it with a cotton pad. You dont seem to need pentox nor oil.

Do not worry too much about the scars, girls really do not pay attention to that. A dermatologist can help.

On a side note, if paraphimosis happens again you want to get circumcised.

Thanks Obsie, that's given me a lot to think about :).

I really should go and see a GP (just need to summon up the courage!). It might be what you suggest, but I also think it could be a result of the damage I did a couple of years ago during intercourse. Because my penis was so numb from the anti-depressants I didn't feel any pain even though I'd jammed my foreskin beneath the helmet, so I kept pushing. If I'd had normal sensitivity I'd have quickly felt pain and withdrawn. I suspect I caused internal bleeding that day.

I also suffer itchiness around one of the lumps as well as pain. Is there ever itchiness in peyronies? Or is there never itchiness?

edit...I have looked up the different things you suggested and it doesn't sound like herpes, but it could be BXO/ sclorosis. I read somewhere that "lichen sclerosis (BXO) can appear on skin that has been damaged or scarred from some previous injury". I don't have any bleeding and I've never had any blisters or spots or discoloration of the foreskin (no lumps etc on the OUTSIDE). My problems is several hard lumps of various sizes all over my glans, particularly beneath the helmet- I can feel them underneath the skin. My feeling is that they are scars from the damage I did when my foreskin got jammed beneath my helmet during sex and I kept going because my penis was so numb I couldn't feel the pain. One of these lumps (only one) is often painful after masturbation and sometimes itchy. Perhaps BXO has developed around one of the scars?

I have to admit I don't understand what you are trying to describe. I don't know how you jamb foreskin "beneath the helmet". I assume you are referring to the penis glans, but I still can't envision how you jamp foreskin beneath it.

He is referring to paraphimosis, which has a rare ocurrence among uncircumcised men. Basically the skin retracts behind the glans and a small oedema makes it impossible to retract to normal position. In most cases the skin would retract normally after a short time and the patient will experience a sore penis for 48 hours, but in some cases the swelling expands further and creates a risk of necrosis, in such a case it is an emergency.

Moksha, the paraphimosis cannot create what you describe. It maybe comorbidity, which means two diseases that exist together, without one causing another, but rather due to environmental causes.
Lichen sclerosis is the same thing as bxo. In any case you should consult quickly, it is not a matter of courage. There is strictly no shame in having a doctor manipulating your penis, it is just a part of your anatomy just like fingers or hair. You want to see an urologist next week.

It's called paraphimosis. My foreskin got stuck beneath the glans, leaving the glans exposed.

But what could have caused these lumps/ scars on the glans? They have been there for over a year (possibly two years) and they don't seem to get any bigger or smaller (though I think a couple of new ones have appeared). The only other thing I can think of is masturbation. For years I was a heavy masturbator and never used any lubrication. I had no idea of the danger of excessive dry masturbation.

The two times I suffered paraphimosis I was having sex without any real desire, aided by Viagra on one occasion and alcohol on the other. The anti-depressants I was taking meant my erections were weak and my libido very low. So I was kind of forcing it.

All of the scars/ lumps are painless except the one on the bottom left of my penis which, after sex or masturbation, is often painful and itchy for a few days. Most of the scars seem to be around the ridge at the base of the glans/ helmet. Could the itchiness and pain just be caused by inflammation of one of the scars rather than BXO? Can you have the scars and lumps without bending? Is Peyronies ever accompanied by itchiness? The itchiness is underneath the skin. The surface of my penis is perfectly normal.

Obsie

Masturbation cannot cause scars. It cannot. Unless you used sand, a saw, or some aggressive tool.

Scars and lumps on the glans can have many origins, from those I listed above, to penile papules, fungal infection, psoriasis, genital warts, or different types of inflammations (balanitis) such as Zoons disease, lichen planus, dermatitis, syphilis or even penile cancer.... It is impossible to diagnose through internet. Clinical tests may be necessary (biopsy etc).

What you have is not caused by Peyronie. Consult a doctor.

If you bend your penis in the wrong way even in masturbation it can cause peyronies and scar formation. Vigorous masturbation or masturbating with thumb on top and index finger on bottom can cause an upward curve and urethra problems.

Noway, he is referring to scars and lumps on the glans, not on the shaft

Sorry Noway, but I don't agree. The only way masturbation can cause problems is if you do some serious or rough treatment to your penis. And I mean rough. The penis was made for some level of stimulation in order to achieve orgasm.

I agree virtually all guys would have Peyronies Disease if it was caused my masturbation.

Are the lumps/ scars in peyronies never on the glans? Most of my scars/ lumps are around the ridge beneath the glans/head/helmet (whatever it's called) and there are a few smaller ones on the actual glans itself.

Obsie

Moksha,

The ridge behind the glans is called the corona. I do not think you need more information that was already given to you and repeated a few times. Your condition is probably not severe (it does not mean it is not) and it is highly unlikely that it is Peyronie. I mean, highly.

What you need is to have this diagnosed in real life, not through an internet forum. I could post here a document with pictures of the most common glans lesions and you would find you have them all. My bet is bxo, but it is not something to bet about.

I wish you full recovery and a happy sex life, but to get there you need to see a doctor, perhaps to have biopsy/ blood test/urethroscopy, whatever needed to make the correct diagnosis.

The sooner the better. Do you get me?  Go see a doctor. And let us know the result.
