loss of sensation following surgery

It's been 5 months for me and the loss of sensation appears to be a common theme. I have a knot about a 1/4 inch in size on the surgical side, that I was told was a stitch that hasn't dissolved. It causes an itch I cannot scratch, after moving around all day or after sex it becomes quite sore. I am hoping this goes away over time and at this point am not sure if I would of been better off just giving up sex, because it's pretty difficult for a guy to fake one.
