New one and some things to think
« on: March 17, 2013, 07:15:37 AM »

Hello all!

I'm 28. I have a peyronie for 8 months and a degree about 10-20. The pain is in the middle of the penis, under head of penis in the middle and under head in the left. So, in 3 places. The plaque is only in the middle of pennis (as the ultrasound said).
As everyone here, I had pain during erection. I thought it was temporary,of course, it was not.

As for a treatment, I had 10 times laser therapy for 1-2 minute each one. Also I used ointment against thrombosis on penis, L-Carnitine, and drops about chronic venous insufficiency (it all has russian names, which I think wouldn't say you anything).

In the middle of this treatment (I was in hospital) my erection was excellent, I had not have any pain, even if I touch penis. BUT! the penis in my opinion goes some degrees left. I don't know is it connected with therapy or no. The plaque in the beginning was hard and painful, I could feel it when it wasn't any erection (you know). After laser the plaque is soft, when I touch plaque, it is not painful, though, of course, it is in it's place.

Full of wonders, I came home after hospital. First thing in the sex was no erection, I forgot how it is without pain :) But after few minutes it was good. I used condom :( It was small for me, though I used only this firm all my life. Maybe this caused bad thing - I had a pain during next sex like it was before treatment :( I was in condom again. The pain was smaller than before treatment, but it was.

As I wrote above, I have three sources of pain. Earlier the main pain was in the middle, where the plaque is located. The laser was 70-80% located there, other percents on 2 another sources of pain. I think, that the pain was outside these 2 sources, which were not treated as the main.

As a result, why I'm writing this... I had 3 hours reading this forum. But couldn't find any info about laser therapy at all.
The uro told me to do ultrasound therapy as quick as I can. But in my town we have ultrasoung for only kidneys. Somebody on forum says that it is not useful for penis (uro with laser is in another town; in mine there are no specialists for that). Should I risk and is threre a risk at all?

Now I'm waiting for some days without sex, giving the rest for penis ) During the night it sometimes rises, and I think I don't feel any pain. But experiments are not welcome now, I think.
The uro said that's enough for therapy and sain to go to the ultrasound. That's the point where I am now.

So, the questions are:
1) What do you think about this situation with laser, and the second sex with pain? Why so? (

2) I'm using  L-Carnitine now (500ml each day once a day). Is there a difference between it and Acetyl L-Carnitine, which is used on forum? Should I take it more than 500 ml?

3) I'm using vitamin E 200ml 3 times a day. Is it useful at all? Or just placebo?

4) With what information I can go to my uro about the treatment from this forum?
-- CO Q10 - 200 - 400 mg daily divided into 2 or 3 doses.
-- L-arginine 1.5 - 3 grams per day divided into 2 or 3 doses
-- Pentox?

big thanks for reading and answers.

Koss, I'm not familiar with any kind of laser therapy for Peyronie's. Can you get more info on the process? What is the process called? How does the laser penetrate the penis? Is there anything on the internet that you can point to so we can learn more?

Vitamin E can helpful but they recommend 800 i.u. per day.

You should definitely get on Pentox 400 mg, 3x per day.

Yes, there is a difference between L-Carnitine & Acetyl L-Carnitine. Get the ALCAR instead of the L-Carnitine.

And while many people here use L-Arginine, some people here including myself use Citrulline Malate instead since it's a precursor to L-Arginine.

Also, check out this link for more answers: http://www.peyroniesforum.net/index.php/topic,3180.0.html

Please provide more information on the laser treatment. Thank you.

I did not want to side-track this topic away from the questions that Koss asked so I will link to the translation of the laser treatment link he posted. Laser Treatment - Russian - Peyronies Society Forums

Koss,
Pentox helps in a couple of ways.  It changes the structure of the redblood cells so they can more easily get to restricted areas of the penis through capillaries.  This provides oxygen and other factors this help stop or reverse progression.  The result is that it softens plaque and reduces pain.  In clinical tests it has even been seen to reverse calcified plaque.  It takes at least a few months of treatment and usually many moths although, some men report that their penis is fuller and better erections even in the first weeks.  The link MattFoley gave you will take you to more information on Pentox that you can take to your doctor.

I can add again, that after laser the plaque was softer, and I hadn't any pain at all -  neither during erection, nor during orgasm. (that was said to me before treatment - so it is not a random result). And the first sex was without pain. But maybe I had to wait before second sex, or even had to avoid it. I don't know this...Now erection is with pain, but it is much lighter. I'm planning to visit a doctor and ask what to do next. Also I give him info, which you've given me.

Also note, that you haven't take all article in translation, only half  :)
For examle this is absent - "Laser therapy is done by contact, stable, with a magnetic nozzle. Optical range of the radiation - red (wavelength 0.63 mm, radiating head KLO4) biosinhronizirovannaya modulation pulse rate and respiration (block BIO), output power (without modulation) - 20 mW. Induction of a constant magnetic field - 150 mT. The total exposure time - 15 minutes per session, day 1 every day for 2 weeks, then 2 times a week."

IT'S NOT A INFO FROM MY DOCTOR. JUST ARTICLE FOR NOTICE FROM THE WEB. USE WITH MIND.

And one more - "Establishing a stable phase of the disease is the basis for the termination of the course of conservative therapy." My doctor said, that as it is stablished, we finish therapy. I don't know what is stablished phase, he said that plaque won't be rising and the pain would be absent.

I have to ask one more question for ultrasond. I found the equipment in hospital, but they haven't ever do ultrasound for peyroni. Have you got any technical information about mhz, minutes of prosedure, and whatever to help?

I don't know the technical specifications for the ultrasound, but it shouldn't be difficult to find. The ultrasound is almost identical to the type and equipment used on women during their pregnancies. The more sophisticated ones are called "full color" Doppler and can also show and measure the amount of blood flow in the penis. I don't know if the full color Doppler's are used for pregnancy scans or not.

Les,

Are you sure they are the same. I think he is talking about ultrasound to treat / impact the plaque and you are talking about imaging.  I don't know enough about types of ultrasound or wave length to know how they might differ.

I do know that the some men on this forum used ultrasound without any clear improvement, but I would give it a try. Maybe they know something we don't.  The laser is certainly not something used men in the U.S. or Europe.

Good point Hawk, thanks for pointing this out. Yes, my brain jumped to the assumption of imaging ultrasound equipment.

My doctor said me the requirements for ultrasound,I'm going to try it. I think I should try everything, what can be useful for treatment before the active phase pass. Doctor said, that good results show ultrasound and then electrophoresis. After then I'll try to do ultrasound for imaging, then I'll compare it with results shown before any treatment (about a month passed).
Now using pentax,L-arginine, L-carotine and some more drugs.

I have questions..
1. If the plaque is soften and painless, can it be harder and painful after? Or it is irreversible?
2. I probably have only 2 plaques. Can new one appear in other places some time later or they appear once and never again?
3. After all, did somedody cure without surgery?

1. Plaque can harden even after they have become soft but it is a good sign that they have become soft.

2. You can get a flare up of Peyronies again and develop new plaque.  It is is not a one time thing.  Unless the underlying conditions change a new event can trigger a new episode.  If the underlying conditions are very bad then it takes very little to trigger a new episode.  If the underlying conditions are better then it might take something more like a bad injury.

3. The word "cure" is a difficult word.  Men have gotten better.  Men have have gone from curve to straight and had good sex lives, so they have overcome deformity, and had better erections without surgery.  I do not think that is the same thing as "cure"

what are the underlying conditions in answer2 ? How to avoid new ones? I think I have a small angle now,but there is a pain. 8 months passed. When will the penis start to deformate? I think I don't understand the whole picture of changes in my life, which will appear in future, and hope for curing, that is impossible..:( though,it's not cancer or something like this, and there is a surgery,as the last waypoint.

Koss, I read so many posts I do not remember if you had an injury.  If it took something as serious as an injury to trigger your Peyronies Disease then you have much less chance of new plaque developing.  Underlying conditions that cause one man to get Peyronies and another to NOT get it are not clear but we think they are things that can be helped by a low inflammatory diet and life-style (good sleep, moderate exercise).  I understand your frustration but it is much like diabetes.  It can be managed but not cured at this point.  That may well change in your lifetime.

As I can see, in the first phase, when the angle is low, and the pain is during erection, there is a greater chance to negate the disease. Since I fell ill in the past 8 months. So am I right thinking, that all the energy I have to put on my treatment exactly now? Or in other words do I have any advantage, while being in this phase, and in what is it concerned?

Like any disease, the earlier you start treating it, the better. As far as Pentox goes, I don't believe that there is any set time for taking it. Each case is individual.

What you must understand is that there is no PROVEN cure for this disease. Some guys recover without any assistance, although this is rare. What works for one person, may not work for another. What you will find on this site is the collective knowledge and experience of fighting this disease, and of what is most likely to be of help in doing that.

Koss

To your questions:
Quote
During what time I'll have to take it?
During having Peyronies and maybe beyond. If you are asking what time of the day: Morning, Launch, Dinner during meal, better not later than 6 PM
Quote
What are the symptoms that it helps?

It helps with pain and increasing blood circulation in your penis that is healthy. In my case, I am out of all my supplements and medications (also VED broken) except 3*400gr Pentox per day in the last 3 weeks and my erections and libido increased.
